Welcome to our third edition of Best of the 207 magazine, sponsored by Fidium Fiber. When we first undertook this project in 2022, we had no idea what the response would be. Given that there are more than 140,000 businesses and 1.4 million residents in Maine (plus millions of annual visitors), it’s almost impossible to come to an agreement on which businesses are the absolute best. But in our first year we tallied close to 70,000 votes across more than 240 categories. In 2023, the ballot count more than doubled, and nearly 4,000 businesses and attractions were nominated across 250 categories.
It has been a thrill for us to witness your enthusiastic response. We predicted that “Best of the 207” would only get bigger, and the results speak for themselves. In 2024, we once again saw nearly 4,000 businesses and attractions (this time across 268 categories) rally their customers and fans to participate in the poll. The result was over 178,000 votes being cast— a 26% increase over 2023!
All voting and tabulation was conducted by our partner, Elite Insights, renowned for the accuracy and objectivity of their campaigns across the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. We’re grateful for their professionalism and diligence in ensuring that every nominated business was afforded an equal opportunity to win gold, silver or bronze.
