Press Release Information

Pritsch Cup The 5th edition of the Jon M. Pritsch Cup took place on Friday, August 19, 2011 at the historic Philadelphia Country Club, host site of the 1939 U.S. Open. The Jon M. Pritsch Cup is a Ryder Cup style event that pits twelve juniors from the Philadelphia Section PGA against twelve juniors from the New Jersey Section PGA. Each group plays two individual matches, worth one point each, while simultaneously playing a four-ball match, also worth one point. The New Jersey Section PGA was fortunate enough to hoist the Pritsch Cup for the fifth year in a row. Since New Jersey came in as the defending champions, they only needed to earn 9 points on their afternoon to retain the Pritsch Cup. New Jersey kept the Pritsch Cup with the final tally: New Jersey 9 ½ points, Philadelphia 8 ½ points. The Jon M. Pritsch Cup is played to honor the memory of Jon M. Pritsch who tragically passed away in May of 1991 at the age of 17. Before his passing, Pritsch was recognized as one of the top junior golfers in the nation. To date, the Jon M. Pritsch Memorial Fund has raised over $155,000 and given away 55 scholarships to juniors looking to pursue a career in a golf related field.
