Exploring Time Through the Lens of Four Female Artists
Time is not merely measured in seconds, hours, or years it is lived, felt, and shaped
This exhibition, “Shaping the Moment”, brings together the individual view of four female artists who challenging the idea of passive perceptions of time, embrace its fluidity and subjectivity.
Their works explore how moments are actively shaped by memory, consciousness, and identity, transcending rigid external
measurements to reveal time as an intimate, personal experience.
Dina El Sioufi conjures timeless, melancholic figures drawn from music and literature. Her subjects theatrical, poised, and beautifully rendered in oil on linen exist in a suspended moment, where memory and myth intertwine.
Tracey Paterson distills joy through vibrant, emotive paintings. For her, time is a vessel for processing emotion and memories of her childhood; bright hues challenge our perceptions, revealing how a shift in perspective can transform grays into radiant pinks and yellows.
Elena Gordon draws inspiration from early 20th-century Russian modernism, particularly its pioneering female artists, to create rhythmic, geometric abstractions rooted in memory. Her layered compositions explore the tension between order and spontaneity, where past and present quietly converge.
Amy-Leigh Bird reinterprets time through collective memory and discarded beauty. By elevating modest, disposable detritus from shorelines, she reshapes our understanding of value, finding unity in fragments reclaimed by art.
Together, these artists redefine time not as a linear force, but as a malleable essence inviting us to shape, and reimagine our own moments. - Elisa Martinelli, curator at ArtMoorHouse
