Hi, I’m Michael and I’m 15 years old. Here are some photos of my family.

These are my parents. My dad’s name is David and my mum’s called Eva. She’s from 5 Vietnam. Really, Eva’s my stepmother: my real mum died when I was very young. Possessive adjectives go before nouns. They express ‘belonging’.

Remember!

In English, possessive adjectives: • do not change with plural nouns; This is my book. / These are my books.

• relate to the possessor, not to the object. her book, her pens (= belonging to a woman) his book, his pens (= belonging to a man)

My name’s Julia Huber and I’m 16 years old. I live in a small village in an area called Styria in the south of Austria. I love it because it’s got lots of mountains, forests and lakes, but my home isn’t very near my school. I go to a very small school in the mountains – it’s only got 49 students!

We often use adverbs of frequency with the Present simple. They go before the main verb, but follow the verb be.

Do you often cry? He’s always hungry!

We also use other expressions of frequency with the Present simple (for example, every day/week/month, once/ twice a day/week, on Mondays/Tuesdays). They usually go at the end of the sentence.

We have a French lesson twice a week.

We use How often...? to ask about frequency.
