Dear diary, I’m on the school volleyball team, and today there is an important competition. The matches are always on Thursdays at a quarter past five in the afternoon, and I really enjoy playing with my teammates. I usually go to the volleyball court by bus, but today our bus driver has a bad cold, and my parents are working late. Oh dear, I have to go by bike, and… there is a thunderstorm! What a disaster! Today, we are going to play against a very good team: The Black Bats. All the players on The Black Bats are taller than us, and they run much faster than we do. It feels like an impossible match to win, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best! Love, Madison

Hello, Dad, I’m queuing for the London Eye and I’m feeling sick. A woman told us we have to wait for half an hour. I’m a little bit scared because it is very high: one hundred and thirty-five metres high. It has thirty-two glass capsules, and each capsule can hold twenty-five people. The wheel moves slowly, but it doesn’t stop, and one full turn takes about half an hour. From the top, you can see all of London! You can see Big Ben, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, and also the River Thames. I’m frightened that I might fall into the water. I paid thirty pounds for the ticket, and now I have to go on it. I don’t want to waste money, but...

SAVING WATER Read the text about the ways in which you can save water. Choose the correct answer (A, B, C or D) for each of the sentences (1-5). Put a cross ( X ) in the correct box. Only one answer is correct. The first one (0) is an example.
You can save water every day, starting with the bathroom. To fill a bathtub, you need 80 litres of water. If you take a short shower of five minutes, you only use 25 litres of water. Your family can also save water in the kitchen. When you wash dishes for six people in the sink, you use 50 litres of water. When a dishwasher is full, it only needs 15 litres of water to wash all the plates. Many people don’t know that a lot of water is used to make clothes. To produce just one pair of jeans, factories need 10,000 litres of water. That’s about the same amount of water that fifteen people drink in one year. So, take care of your clothes instead of buying new ones very often.

Se il verbo è to be, è già ausiliare e quindi aggiungi solo NOT! Fai lo stesso con i verbi can e must.

Hi Alessandro, I hope you are well. I can’t wait to go on holiday! Do you want to join me and my brother? We are going to the Sun&Learn summer camp, in Liguria, Italy! The hotel is located between the sea and the hills. We are learning some Italian but this summer camp is for Italian and English teenagers, perfect for us! Our friends Bob and Lia are coming, too. We’re all flying to Italy on June 28th but the camp starts the day after, so my parents are driving me and Tim there. We are spending two weeks at the camp and I’m sure we will have a lot of fun. There are language classes in the morning, sports activities after lunch, and a lot of fun in the evening. Let me know! Liam 0.
