SUMMER FUN WITH FRIENDS Norte's Grand Traverse Regional Bike Camp provides the pathway for northern Michigan elementary and middle schoolers to gain confidence and a sense of empowerment through bicycles while exploring their community. Under the guidance of our enthusiastic coaches, campers learn bike safety skills and independence as they explore their towns, discovering new places, and making friends along the way.

The best part of bike camp was making new friends, having social time, and riding my bike to the lakes and seeing nature.

CONFIDENT AND COURAGOUS Over a nine-week period this summer, Norte hosted 48 unique bike camp sessions across five communities. In addition, we offered a bike camp experience in a unique collaboration with our partner SEEDS at Cherry Street Elementary in Kalkaska. Altogether, we realized a 97% capacity rate, with 621 spots filled among 454 unique young riders. Our attendance rate across the five communities was 91%.

Young riders rolled across four counties during summer 2021

Do you think you'll ride your bike more now?

I want to ride my bike more often now, and am trying to teach my sister to ride.

PHENOMENAL COACHES Our coach was awesome and took this group to new levels. They were exactly the coach our son needed to start stretching his wings.

Lead Coaches

19

Assistant Coaches

We're always looking for coaches who are passionate about creating activefor-life kids. Excitement and a willingness to have loads of fun are the key traits. Our training prepares them for the rest. All told, we clocked 695 hours of training for both lead and assistant coaches. 2021 was also our first year as a state-licensed day camp for the Traverse City location.

BIKE CAMP FOR EVERYONE We're committed to our mission that every child should learn active living skills that stay with them for life. Our youth scholarship fund and the availability of high-quality program bikes at no cost ensure that we leave no one behind because of their family's resource challenges or circumstances. Want to help get more great kids on bikes? Visit our website to donate, or become one of our incredible coaches or volunteers!
