On-Property Activities
A rotating schedule of on-property activities are offered throughout the week. Summertime lineups can include activities like wake-up wellness classes, yard Olympics, and more. Guests are also welcome to try their hand at axe throwing and archery on the Marksman Range, or join our guides for some time on our climbing wall.
Fly Fishing
The Gunnison Valley is world renowned for its trout fishing, and our guides know all the secret spots. You’ll wade into the East River, Taylor River, or two miles of exclusive access on Tomichi Creek to catch rainbow, brown, and brook trout. Or opt for a float trip down the Gold Medal waters of the Upper Gunnison. This activity is included with Fly Fishing–inclusive bookings.
Mountain Biking
With over 700 miles of singletrack, it’s no wonder Crested Butte is officially on the map as a must-ride spot for any serious mountain biker. You’ll find everything from downhill drops to rolling cross-country trails to lift-accessed bike parks. The Gunnison Valley also has low-key trails for new and young riders just getting started.
Hiking
You’ll top out on 13,000-foot peaks, climb alpine ridges, and wander through extensive aspen groves and wildflower meadows on one of the many hiking trails that dot the Gunnison Valley. This area is a hiker’s paradise, with trails ranging from flat strolls on the valley floor to bold alpine ascents.
Guide’s Ridge Mountaineering
The Guide’s Ridge ascent is a rope-supported climb that follows an 800-foot ridge to Mount Crested Butte’s 12,162-foot summit. A stellar introduction to technical alpine ascents, this popular climb is suitable for adventurous families and seasoned climbers alike. Standup Paddleboarding
From alpine lakes to quiet reservoirs, the valley has ample options for paddleboarding destinations. Your guides can offer pointers on where to go and tips on paddling and balance, or send you out to explore on your own.
Whitewater Rafting
Two distinct rivers allow for whitewater rafting in the Gunnison Valley. There’s the family-friendly Gunnison River, which has mellow Class I and II stretches along its upper section. The more adventurous Taylor River has more sustained Class III rapids. We can make arrangements for guided raft trips on either river.
Horseback Riding*
Experienced equestrians and new riders alike will enjoy the horseback rides on Crested Butte’s most scenic trails, designated for foot and horse traffic only. You’ll tromp through wilderness areas throughout the Gunnison Valley, with mountain passes and aspen groves as your backdrop.
Wellness Offerings*
From riverside yoga and forest bathing to sound healing and personalized massages, our wellness menu invites you to revitalize your mind and body with nature as your backdrop.
Lake Irwin*
Be transported to Eleven’s Lake Irwin outpost for a day of waterfront activities at a high elevation lake just outside of Crested Butte with views of the Ruby Mountain Range. You’ll spend the day swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, and relaxing on the beach, with options for hiking on lakeside trails. Our lakefront cabin comes stocked with beach toys, games, and refreshments. This is available for up to six people and includes transportation to and from Lake Irwin.
