Welcome

Deplar Farm, set deep in northern Iceland’s Fljót Valley, is a front-row seat to fall’s transition into winter. Golden grasses ripple beneath snow-capped peaks, the northern lights flicker back to life, and crisp days give way to cozy evenings in the lodge’s geothermal pools and award-winning spa.

Afternoon

Snowmobiling January-February

Fire up the engines for an adrenaline-pumping journey across snowy tundras. On our expertly-guided snowmobile adventures, you’ll cross frozen lakes, zoom through meadows, and stop into our outpost cabin for a steaming cup of cocoa or a warm lunch.

Snowshoeing Late December-February

Go on a picturesque snowshoe journey around the Fljót Valley that surrounds Deplar Farm, once a 15th century sheep farm. This area is known for its plentiful snowfall, so you’ll trek through fresh snow as you take in the sights.

Fat Biking October-February

Traverse Iceland’s frozen landscapes on fat tire snow bikes, designed to traverse snowy terrain. This unique guided biking experience offers a fun and challenging workout, perfect for winter adventure seekers.

Surfing October-February

There’s no such thing as too cold around here. With our super thick wetsuits, you can surf Iceland’s best right-handers and occasional left breaks. Keep an eye out for local pro Heiðar Logi, master of these North Atlantic waters. If you’re lucky, he’ll offer some pointers.

Sea Kayaking October-February

Experience the Arctic Ocean on a sea kayaking adventure in the Haganesvík area. Guided by experts, you’ll spot fishing cottages, waterfalls, geothermal springs, and dramatic cliffs all along the water’s edge.

Whale Watching October-February

The cold waters off the coast of Iceland make it a playground for whales. All winter long, witness their impressive size and playful behavior on a whale watching tour from Eyjafjörður. From a traditional Icelandic oak boat, you’ll spot dolphins, humpbacks, blues, and orcas.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding

October-November

Experience the fun of stand-up paddleboarding in some of the world’s most dramatic scenery. Take it easy on the calm waters of Stífluvatn Lake while enjoying the view.

Snow Sledding Late December-February

Get back to the days of old-fashioned winter fun with our wide selection of sleds. Fly down snow-covered hills on tubes, saucers, and steerable Stiga Snowracer sleds, then be treated to a snowmobile shuttle back to the top.

Cross-Country Skiing Late Late December-February

Get outfitted with classic cross-country skis from our in-house gear closet, then glide along the trails around Deplar Farm through the snowy valleys of the Troll Peninsula.

Hiking October-December

Explore the wild landscapes of the Troll Peninsula on foot with our knowledgeable local guides. From meandering trails near Deplar Farm to snowy pathways in Svarfaðardalur Nature Reserve, there’s a route for everyone.

Haganesvík Gym October-February

Located at the Haganesvík beach property, our fully equipped sports hall has it all, a perfect option for an indoor sports day. Try your hand at pickleball, badminton, dodgeball, soccer, and basketball, or climb one of the varied routes on our fully equipped climbing wall.

Horseback Riding* October-February

Iceland’s iconic purebred horses are the descendants of 9thcentury Vikings. These hardy, sure-footed horses offer an adventurous way to explore Iceland’s rugged terrain, whether it’s your first time in the saddle or you’re an experienced rider looking to cover some ground.

Wellness Activities

Wellness activities are offered as private or group sessions and available at an additional cost. Use of the lodge’s spa is included in your stay.

The Spa at Deplar Farm

Recharge in our 5,000-square-foot spa, featuring a geothermally-heated indoor/outdoor pool, sauna, steam room, and hot tubs. Stretch and strengthen in the gym and yoga studio, or follow a self-guided contrast therapy circuit to boost recovery. Enclosed in floor-to-ceiling windows, the spa is an idyllic place to find inspiration and balance.
