4.2 TRINE

UNIVERSITY MTI CENTER Book-ending the campus on the far west end, the new MTI Center at Trine University has been designed to recall the days when the fieldhouse was the basketball venue. With proportions and materials derived from historical examples, utilizing existing material language of the campus, and an infusion of contemporary materials and applications, the new Arena provides the strong visual and functional anchor to the athletics side of the university campus. The arena provides a new home to a number of Thunder Athletics programs. This new 75,000 SF athletics and event center boasts an impressive addition to the growing needs of the Trine University campus. With over 3,000 seats, the arena is the home court for Trine’s men’s and women’s basketball teams. In addition to this, there are other programs and uses within this building for general student use and special uses including a fitness center, a banquet room, multiple athletic offices and training rooms.

Due to its location at the former Witmer Clubhouse, the MTI Center also houses a new Golf Pro Shop and support spaces for the Zollner Golf Course. The center also includes a six-lane bowling alley to accommodate men’s and women’s bowling teams. In addition to traditional sports and functions, the MTI Center also houses one of the newest competitive programs in higher education – e-Gaming. Included in the design is a space for the newly launched Esports program which began in the Fall of 2017. This state-of-the-art space addresses a growing demand in collegiate interests in online competitive video gaming. From the traditions of fieldhouse basketball to new “e-Gaming” arenas, the new MTI Center at Trine University represents a new era in sporting and entertainment opportunities for the students at Trine as well as local residents and visitors.

The Zollner Engineering Addition and Renovation project at Indiana Tech provides growth and innovation with a 30,000+ sq ft three-story expansion and full building renovation. As the Architect of Record, Elevatus Architecture brought in various consultants to help with the planning and delivery of this new campus addition. A focus on connecting with outside environments and enhancing the quad and circulation within the campus was the main priority for this new addition. A new main entrance serves as a central hub to the facility and a collaboration zone for students. A strong visual cue from the vestibule to the new robotics program in development greets all. Glass-lined corridors help connect students and visitors with the inner-workings of various classrooms and lab spaces.

Engineering design, robotics, chemistry, electrical design, thermal sciences, and biomedical labs are several updates to debut this new project. New 24-hour computer areas and activity/study areas will help create a hub for exploration. The west entrance was recaptured to be the main entrance for professors and support services. The Zollner Engineering Addition and Renovation will be the newest addition to the growing Campus in Fort Wayne.

ALBION COLLEGE RECREATION AND 4.2 WELLNESS CENTER With a recent donation from a former graduate and basketball player for the Britons, the Dow Recreation and Wellness Center experienced a recent makeover and some much needed growth. The “Serra Dow Expansion Project” aims to transform the lives of students, staff, and faculty with a main purpose to be inclusive for all. The recreation and wellness center holds various areas that are hyper-focused on providing a holistic environment that promotes a fit lifestyle. From a cardio and fitness center to a study lounge, conference room space, and a smoothie bar with nutritious foods, the expansion project helps create a more engaged campus. The expansion revolves around a enhanced entry and lobby space that serves both the wellness center and the Herrick Theater. As the facility has centered around mind,

body, and wellness, it holds a great value in its cardio and fitness center. Featuring squat racks weight machines, and cardio equipment such as treadmills. The nutrition bar provides a nutritious and healthy place to enjoy smoothies and other foods. There ample amount of study space inside the Dow, which there are specifically pods found within the Center that are set up for a great learning environment. The multi-purpose space was designed to create a wide-open space for all types of fitness activity and programming, dance and theater classes. Other rooms that this facility entails are men’s and women’s locker rooms, conference rooms for meetings and study sessions, and an athletic director’s office. This 11,300 SF addition project was completed in 2020 at a cost of $3.45 million.

4.2 ALBION

COLLEGE LOCKER ROOM RENOVATION

The team at Elevatus Architecture successfully accomplished a locker room renovation at Albion College in Albion, Michigan. The renovation took place inside the Dow Recreation and Wellness Center on the campus. The layout is more efficient and effective for athletes and is central for various other athletic venues. The Elevatus team designed a new locker room that would embrace the university’s brand culture and foster camaraderie through various support features in ensuring an efficient way of storage. Team gatherings within this space will change dramatically. The brand colors representing the Britons will now give student-athletes more of an emotional connection to their pride. The sound system that spreads across the locker room can be heard far and wide. The storage lockers will make sure that athletes have organized spots to put their equipment. It is currently planned to have space be used

seasonally by various Albion College sports teams through the renovations. All 60 wooden lockers give a personal zone for those who will use them. Renovations throughout the existing space include: • Individual stalls for showers • Partitions for toilets • New LED ceiling lights • New wall tile • Floor covering • New acoustical ceiling system • Wooden lockers Siwek Construction was the contractor on this project who helped renovate this space into what it is today. MDA Engineering led all engineering design efforts in this renovation project to ensure all systems worked cohesively and comfortably within the room. Overall, this project adheres well to the growing campus community.

4.2 IVY TECH

COMMUNITY COLLEGE COLISEU CAMPUS BAKERY

LOCATION FORT WAYNE, INDIANA SCOPE 3,462 SF / RENOVATION CONSTRUCTION COST $450,100

Elevatus Architecture completed a remodeling of an existing unoccupied space to create a specialty bakery for the Culinary Arts department to expand the ever-growing program. Architectural work included demolition of existing classroom and offices, space planning and layout of new kitchen including workstation spaces and equipment coordination, storage, bulk food storage (perishable and non-perishable), office, and a public entrance. Since this particular project was to be located in an existing space, the major challenge was allocation of the program within the constraints of the building, to ensure the owner’s requirements were met.

While the use of the space is primarily for the Culinary Arts program, it also serves as a bakery for campus events held in the adjacent multipurpose room. The layout of the program located the bakery proper on the south half of the existing spaceto allow visual connection between the corridor and bakery. Large glass doors and windows were installed in the corridor wall to the building occupants for visual cues of the new space. The remaining program was on the north half of the existing space to accommodate delivery and storage of goods. The design also accounted for food service from the existing kitchen, through the extra wide bakery hall connector and preparation space.

4.2 INDIANA TECH

ZOLLNER BIOLOGY LAB

LOCATION FORT WAYNE, INDIANA SCOPE 1,065 SF / RENOVATION CONSTRUCTION COST $500,000 COMPLETION 2020

The Indiana Tech Zollner Biology Lab evokes an innovative approach for the university’s growing demand in it’s science programs and practice. Utilizing existing space on this 1000 SF Renovation project, Elevatus Architecture was engaged to provide design updates and modern equipment. Indiana Tech aims to introduce more students to scientific careers and felt the need to bring more of a biology-intense focus. This space will accommodate first and second-year biology students. The new lab is comprised of 3 areas: • Life Sciences • Lab Support • Cell Culture

The Life sciences area includes the main learning space where traditional lab countertops with power and gas faucets are attached. The lab support area stationed the refrigeration, fume hood, and other equipment with associated to the life sciences needs. Inside the cell culture room, you will find various biosafety equipment and lab test materials. The Zollner biology lab combines modern day needs and equipment in a traditional science lab.

4.2 PURDUE

4.2 PURDUE

FORT WAYNE E-SPORTS LOUNGE The progression of Esports in the Higher Education world is rapidly becoming a powerful means for students, whose popularity for electronics and the video game culture is a way to both connect and compete. Universities are now able to offer lucrative scholarships for students to attend these fully functioning spaces and compete at global levels.

Located on the second floor of the Walb Student Union at Purdue University -Fort Wayne campus, the space is separated into three zones. One of which included an Esport Lab, set up in full rows of state-of-the-art stations with flexibility in mind. The other two are distinctively similar, but several pods segment one, and the other is more open source.

Elevatus helped deliver a new Esports Lab and E-Gaming Lounge to suit the needs of Purdue University Fort Wayne’s growing competitive e-gaming programs. Concerning design and utilizing space for e-gaming, it would require an intense outlook on the interactivity guidelines and gaming needs through this new zone.

As for any of the numerous esports programs that we’ve worked within the higher ed space, connectivity and flexi-bility are two coordinates, we make sure to apply together.

The Bradley Elevatus assisted with several design options for a new boutique-style hotel in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne. This five-story new development includes ground-floor food and beverage spaces, rooftop bar seating and dining, 124 keyed rooms, 2,000 square feet of meeting rooms, and retail spaces - along with an unmatched view of the city.

Brownfield High School The new Brownfield High School in Texas is a fresh take on the modern school, where flexible and future-ready learning spaces allow students to grow through Career and Technical Education opportunities. The building shell was designed with industrial aesthetics of a state-of-the-art sophisticated facility, while the interior was designed with a neighborhood feel. Innovated safety solutions were utilized throughout.

Amp Lab Located within the energetic Electric Works historic redevelopment, Amp Lab is a project-based learning center where Fort Wayne Community Schools students can work with local innovators, corporate leaders, and institutional backers. The innovative school is rich in technology and features large lab spaces for unique programs, with space for breakout and small group work rooms.

Jim Kelley Career Pathway Center Elevatus was brought on to renovate an existing building into a vocational school. The Jim Kelley Career Pathway Center introduces Fort Wayne middle school students to skilled trades including automotive, manufacturing, construction trades, supply chain management and IT/CAD/CAM. The building is outfitted with a variety of learning labs where students can use cutting-edge equipment and technology for hands-on and project-based learning.

Meijer Remodels Elevatus has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Meijer for more than a decade. Elevatus has provided A/E design services for the remodel of 62 superstores in 6 states (Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin), with planning for additional stores ongoing. The partnership has been successful primarily thanks to cost-saving solutions devised by the Elevatus design team.

Kelley Automotive Group Auto Mall Elevatus assisted in the design and development of four new dealership buildings and support facilities within Kelley Automotive Group’s newest auto mall in Fort Wayne. Designers considered the customer experience, dealership operations, and traffic flow in the auto mall design.

Electric Works Elevatus was the lead architect on the massive rehabilitation of the historic General Electric campus into Electric Works, a mixed-use district of innovation, culture, and community. Spanning more than 1.2 million SF across 18 buildings, the $400 million multiyear historic preservation and reuse allowed for the creation of a public market, an education center, commercial space, and walkable community areas.
