Special Events | Plan of Action

Purpose / Overview Elevate Entrepreneurship Systems has hosted a number of unique events that engage students in understanding the importance of entrepreneurship and that also expand the network of those who support the development of an entrepreneurial eco-‐system. Elevate will implement the following special events plan in partnership with MSCC and the Delta Regional Authority. These special events are a critical component in the process of developing a strong student entrepreneurship eco-‐system within the Delta Region. The Elevate Entrepreneurship Systems Special Events Strategy will: • Engage students in applied entrepreneurship training & competition • Build relationships / networks between students and business leaders • Engage policy makers in developing support for student entrepreneurs within Delta Communities • Provide educators with training on how to weave applied entrepreneurship education into their area of study which will yield improved educational outcomes for students within the Delta Region • Bring local, national and global together to explore entrepreneurial opportunities within the Delta • Engage MSCC Students, Delta Students, and Community members in creating business enterprises, accessing capital for business start-‐up activities, and encouraging non-‐traditional partnerships between students, community leaders, and members of the private sector • Provide community leaders with best-‐practices to support and cultivate applied entrepreneurship education within their communities The goal of the special events plan of action is to demonstrate the activities/events that will take place to provide students with training, motivation, and demonstrate the impact of applied entrepreneurship education; to bring resources together; and to support the development of the entrepreneurial mindset. This goal is consistent with the Delta Regional Authority’s Small Business Framework on Transforming Community Economies, produced by Dr. James Stapleton. See Link: http://www.dra.gov/!userfiles/editor/docs/SBE Policy Framework Final.pdf This special events plan of action will incorporate the following key areas from the Delta Regional Authority’s Framework as seen below.
