Internship Program Plan of Action Internship Program Elevate Entrepreneurship Systems will work with the Office of Student Life to recruit, identify, and provide 4 students with a stipend based internship program. These students will work with the Elevate Team to organize and develop the components of the system. These students will be responsible for assisting Elevate with the following:
Student Engagement • • • • • •
Recruiting and registering students to participate in various activities Completing assessments and pre-‐testing Engaging students in BOSS Club Activities Organizing student recruitment activities Monitoring student progress and development Capturing video profiles of each student in the BOSS Club
Community Engagement • • • • •
Promoting entrepreneurship and training activities in local high schools Promoting entrepreneurship with community organizations/ churches Organizing speaking engagements and activities within the targeted communities Identifying community-‐based mentors, entrepreneurs, and key advisors to assist student enterprises Developing sponsorship relationships with Elevate, MSCC, and the BOSS Club

Internship Program Plan of Action Program Description: Student interns will work with Elevate through the Office of Student Life. These interns will work directly with Elevate Staff 3-‐5 hours per week. Each student will then complete assignments and tasks. Each week students will meet with Elevate’s leadership team. Students will participate in a one (1) hour team meeting . Students will also have a one-‐on-‐one meeting with the Elevate Leadership Team. Interns will complete assignments on a weekly basis. Upon completing the internship interns will have a portfolio outlining their work experiences and the outcome of their work products. Compensation: Students who complete the internship will receive a $500.00 (five hundred dollar) stipend for their participation in the program. Students will receive their stipend based on the completion of 80% of the assignments made during the semester. Recruitment Process: Elevate will promote the internship opportunity. Recruitment will take place through the online job posting system. Elevate will also blend the recruitment activities through the organization’s existing effort to build the BOSS Club. The recruitment campaign during January 27-‐Feburary 12th. Intake Process: Students who apply for the internship position will be interviewed during the week of Feb. 10th-‐February 14th. The intake process will consist of an interview, completion of a skills assessment, and the completion of a CRC (if the student does not have a current CRC). Elevate will also conduct skills assessments on each student on a post-‐internship basis. This will help to evaluate the impact of the internship activities.
Internship Program Plan of Action Job Description: Elevate Entrepreneurship Systems Internship Job Description Elevate Entrepreneurship Systems is seeking to establish a relationship with a limited number of Mid-‐ South Community College Students. The interns applying for this opportunity must be self-‐starters, leaders, and have existing writing skills. Elevate is currently implementing an applied entrepreneurship education system in partnership with Mid-‐South Community College. MSCC seeks to identify highly motivated self-‐starters to work with our organization to: • • • •
Recruit and develop relationships with local corporate partners Utilize online resources to enhance social media impact Identify community / regional resources that can support the system and Support existing student enterprises / entrepreneurs
Learning Objectives Through this process students will develop the following skills: • • • • •
Improved writing skills; students will enhance their technical, creative, and descriptive writing skills Improved use of excel and spreadsheet based technology Enhanced relationships with local leaders in the public and private sector Understanding of the importance of entrepreneurship education and economic development within the Delta Region and Opportunities to transform the internship into a part-‐time and/or full time position with Elevate
Students will demonstrate that they have gained academic skills through post –testing, journal entries, and a final analysis of their local network. Each of these indicators will assist students in developing relationships with community members, leaders, and individuals who have a desire to assist in the educational/economic development of youth from the Delta Region.
