Jamie Agoglia: First and foremost, congratulations on the current issue of SI (Sports Illustrated)! Kate Bock: Thank you, very exciting! Really quickly on that, I wanted to pay you a huge compliment, not that you need me to tell you this, while you have a magnificent way how you present both yourself and what you’re involved in, on a professional and personal level. You do it in a very unparalleled way, and your dog Vestry is one of the most beautiful animals I have ever seen! Thank you, every time Kevin (Love) and I are walking around with her we get stopped at least three, four times, people are like “What is this dog?! She’s so pretty!” And she is! She’s such a sweet girl and such a pretty girl. She’s a good little model and a good poser. Right now as we’re speaking her body is smooshed into my body, they’re very attached and very affectionate. She travels all over with me, she went paddle boarding with me this morning. Love Kate Inc., that is your lifestyle line, when do you plan on potentially launching, and is that a personal passion that you’ve been thinking about for quite some time? I’m hoping 2021. What I’m realizing more and more, through social media and through my friends, is that I’ve cultivated a way to do really healthy snacks and meals, tips and tricks, make special moments, beautiful ways to work out such as in candle light outside, and people started to just call it “Kate Lifestyle,” and we’re trying to figure out how to share that in the most diestable way. Kate, you’ve had, are having, such an amazing career, you’re so good at what you do. What are a few “aha” moments that you reflect back on as moments, decisions, that changed the trajectory of your career and brought you to this point? Interesting question! I moved from Vancouver Canada, I was 18, I had finished high school, and all my friends were going to college and moving away to different spots to go to school. At that time I decided to follow through with the opportunity to go to Paris and sign with an agency. Which, at the time (laughing), I was so jealous of my friends going off to college, to have that dorm room experience, that college time to look back on. I went to Paris by myself, I knew nobody, and got on the plane and hoped for the best, and here we are a few years later! I’m so happy with my career, the people I’ve met, the places I’ve traveled, and trusting that moving to a foreign country across the world I’d never been to was going to work out well, was a big moment for me!

Do you ever look back and think “what if I hadn’t done that?!” I feel like I always knew what I wanted, and envisioned these things in my head, and pictured myself being all over the world, or pictured myself in certain situations, and it all came to be. I’ve had a very strong eye for envisioning my future, and when something became an opportunity, it just seemed like a natural thing to follow through with. I also went to French immersion school so moving to Paris was a little less daunting to me because I could speak the language. I love that! So then what was your next significant, or even more significant “aha” moment? After Paris I lived in London, Milan, Tokyo, and then back to Paris, I was there multiple years, and then finally, I had never been to New York, and when I moved to New York that was a huge moment, it’s been my home now for 10+ years, I love New York City, and I do feel like a “New Yorker.” I think I’ve made it after 10 years, I’m officially a “New Yorker” now! That’s my home and that’s the love of my life citywise. And when I moved to New York I had some really cool jobs and career turning situations, like being cast for Victoria Secret and being cast for Sports Illustrated, doing L’Oreal commercials and got to live out so many of the dreams that I had envisioned by moving to New York.


I love how you touched upon how you’ve always had a strong sense of being able to envision and see where you’re going, or want to go, or wanting to become, and so what is that right now? I’m wanting to put together a book of favorite cooking tips, healthy eating tips, lifestyle, my favorite workouts, all of those tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way and that I love. Making healthy food at home. Making your home feel really welcoming. How to host and friends over and have quick, easy ways to prepare. How different workouts can help you throughout the day. Different travel tricks. I’ve learned so much throughout the years, I just want to put it all together and be able to share that. It’s something that I’m really passionate about, that I love, and I feel like I get asked the questions all the time, so I want to be able to have a book that I can share. And what a valuable time to be doing that in our current society, never have people been more focused on the home and how much they want to enhance their home lifestyle. Exactly, there are some silver linings. Obviously COVID is horrible, while there are some linings, and it’s the perfect time to focus on the home life, and eating healthy, and being active, and a focus on both your physical health and your mental health.

A

ctress and entrepreneur Kate Hudson is making her mark in the world of ultra-premium spirits with her newest endeavor, King St. Vodka. Inspired by good times with friends spent over Dirty Vodka Martinis, Kate couldn’t find a vodka that was just right for her palate, or one that was founded by a woman, so she made one herself. “I have always found the spirits industry fascinating, and I love Dirty Vodka Martinis. The creative side of me thought it would be a fun challenge to develop a vodka for my palate, and in a beautiful package that I would love to have on my bar and share with friends. The businessperson in me is now looking forward to the challenge of building a brand in an entirely new industry,” says Hudson. “After a particularly long day, I decided to host an impromptu cocktail party with my closest friends. As I prepared to whip up a batch of dirty vodka martinis I surveyed my bar, but I wasn’t 100 percent happy with my options. Then I wondered, ‘Are any of these vodkas founded by women?’ I did some research, they weren’t. So, I decided to make my own just the way I like it!”




Crafted in Santa Barbara, King St. Vodka was founded in 2019 by Kate and her partner David Kanbar, CoCreator of Skinnygirl. Created under the watchful eye of Master Distiller, Ian Cutler, King St. Vodka uses GMOfree corn and alkaline water, producing a final yield that is gluten free with a hint of sweet vanilla flavor. Distilled seven times and then filtered, King St. Vodka is extraordinarily pure. Made from the best ingredients, every sip is clean, smooth, and created to be enjoyed with good company. E

very Parmigiani Fleurier timepiece is the result of the combined efforts of masterful artisans and craftsmen, plying their trades throughout five distinct companies all under one corporate roof. Since 1996, when Michel Parmigiani partnered with the Sandoz Family Foundation in the foundation of his eponymous watch brand, they have built a vertically integrated watchmaking center with the Parmigiani Fleurier at its creative core. While each of the five companies — which together encompass all the industrial and artisanal disciplines involved in the production of high-end timepieces, from the production of screws and balance springs, to computer-aided design and prototyping, to the finishing of cases and dials — also provide their expertise to other high-horology watch companies, it is Parmigiani Fleurier that is at the forefront of their production and at the pinnacle of their craftsmanship. Parmigiani Fleurier is one of the few modern watch maisons with a deeply rooted tradition in antique timepiece restoration, a specialty of its founder and namesake, Michel Parmigiani. Its driving philosophy, in which a timepiece is approached as both a work of art and a practical timekeeping device, is shared among the collective that makes up the Parmigiani Watchmaking Centre. The five producers are Les Artisans Boitiers (LAB), a cuttingedge casemaker brought into the fold in May 2000; Atokalpa, a prolific purveyor of movement parts acquired in December of that same year; Elwin, a longtime supplier of micro-mechanical parts absorbed in January 2001; Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, the respected movement manufacturer established in 2003; and Quadrance & Habillage, whose founding and addition to the Watchmaking Centre in 2005 added in-house dial-making to the roster of horological savoir faire.


Following the successful launch of its first ever Hijri calendar wristwatch, the Tonda 1950 Tourbillon Double Rainbow and the Toric Tourbillon Slate, Parmigiani Fleurier is proud to announce the new Tonda GT. The Maison’s dress watches have long been revered among collectors for their elegance and fine craftsmanship, the result of its in-house manufacturing prowess combined with Michel Parmigiani’s master watchmaking talent and commitment to excellence. This commitment continues in this new introduction, a line designed to appeal to the modern gentleman looking for a watch he can wear on every occasion. Three distinct sporty, yet elegant designs introduces the release of the Tonda GT. With polished and satin-finished stainless steel or 18-ct rose gold, it is the embodiment of Parmigiani’s years of expertise and design ethos following golden ratio parameters.



The Tondagraph GT is powered by the PF043 automatic caliber and combines two of watchmaking’s most useful complications, an annual calendar and a chronograph. This is an uncommon combination and once again Parmigiani Fleurier fills a void in the watchmaking world by presenting them together at a level of quality seldom rivaled, and yet, with an exceptional price. The dial displays a wealth of information and remains legible. It has delta-shaped hands with black luminescent coating indicating the hours and minutes, a small second, two subdials for the chronograph function, and a big date aperture at 12 o’clock. To draw attention to the annual calendar function, the date and month are displayed in a vibrant orange color. This impressive watch is water resistant to 100m, has a screwdown crown, a 45-hour power reserve, and is finely finished with Côtes de Genève stripes visible through the open caseback. Parmigiani Fleurier worked with watch designer, Dino Modolo, to reinterpret its design codes, resulting in a reimagined case with updated lugs and an integrated bracelet ergonomically designed for ultimate comfort. ith its impressive watchmaking heritage spanning over 240 years of history, Swiss watchmaker Perrelet is renowned today for its timepieces with ‘animated’ dials. Characterized by the iconic Double Rotor and Turbine models, these fascinating timepieces were developed in honor of founder Abraham Louis Perrelet, the precursor of the first self-winding movement. As heirs of the grand watchmaking master, every model in Perrelet’s collection bears an automatic manufacture movement. Guided by creativity and a determination to innovate in watchmaking, the technical team at Perrelet presented the first automatic movement with a Double Rotor in 1995. Requiring five years of R&D, the Double Rotor has become the flagship style of the brand. The new “First Class Double Rotor Black Edition” is the latest model in the First Class line. Entirely designed and produced in Perrelet’s manufacture, it benefits from patented Double Rotor technology with a double oscillating mass that allows the automatic mechanism to accumulate energy from the two rotors. The first oscillating mass is placed under the caliber, while the second is visible on the dial allowing the owner to observe the energy supply to the movement. Perrelet’s latest creation, with its view of the harmonious ‘dance’ of wheels and gears inside the beating heart of the watch, was conceived for aficionados and collectors who appreciate fine mechanics. The “First Class Double Rotor Black Edition” is presented in a steel case with a 42mm diameter and treated, for the first time in this line, with black PVD. The case is water-resistant to 50m/5ATM. The lines of the case are fluid with rounded, bevelled lugs decorated with a vertical satin-brush finish and a contrasting polished bezel. The middle case is decorated with a combination of polished and brushed grooves as is the crown, which is personalized with an engraved Perrelet logo.




Perrelet celebrates the first decade of its innovative Turbine technology and breathes life into a second generation of models decked out with mesmerizing turbines on board. The look is still sporty but its silhouette is more refined adding a touch of contemporary sophistication that is more in touch with today’s aesthetics. “TURBINE EVO” is housed in a new sporty-chic case with a newly designed automatic movement. For the first time in its ten-year history, all the movements which equip this collection are covered by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) certification, testifying high precision in timekeeping after having undergone a series of tests. R

achel Hunter is an internationally known supermodel from Auckland, New Zealand, who began her successful career at the age of seventeen and has appeared on notable magazine covers and in films and television programs worldwide. Most recently, Rachel embarked on an odyssey exploring beauty and well-being in cultures all over the globe for her acclaimed television program, “Tour of Beauty.” She released a best-selling book chronicling her incredible experience, which is currently for sale in New Zealand and coming to the states soon. Born into a spiritually open family, Rachel had a deep connection with her late mother who sought many different and diverse spiritual practices. An open mind and heart became the legacy she passed on to Rachel. After her mother’s death in 2017, Rachel fully immersed herself in the formal study of the ancient practices of yoga in the foothills of the Himalayas under the teachings of master teacher Anand Mehotra. Having completed over five hundred hours of Registered Yoga Training (RYT) and several master modules in meditation, Rachel is trained in all facets of the eight limbs of yoga. Rachel’s transformational, dynamic practice includes breathwork and various disciplines of yoga with an emphasis on the Vedantic and Tantric traditions, incorporating Himalayan Kundalini. Rachel completed her Masters training in 2019. We sat down with Rachel Hunter for insight on her meditation lifestyle and mindset. Jamie Agoglia: How does daily mediation allow for a luxurious lifestyle and mindset? Rachel Hunter: Luxury is a word that has different meanings to people in different ways. Meditating takes us to an awareness that is grateful and connected to self. Whether we are laying in the grass, or in a lavish home, “luxury” is a mindset. We can then use this knowledge to expand our ideas of “luxury” and enjoy the daily luxuries without worry or stress, or thinking of other concerns. It’s great to “have luxurious things,” but are you in joy and happiness when experiencing them? Luxury is a lifestyle, a mindset, not an object.


Tell us about spending quarantine in India. What was that like? Although it was not planned, lockdown in India ended up being an incredible experience, one that will stay with me forever. Really for all of us. We are in unprecedented times. I was at Isha Yoga center in South India when quarantine began, and had been in a program of silence. I was studying at Sadhguru’s ashram, a well-known Mystic, who is known around the world. I had come to the South of India to Go to a friend’s wedding and to go to a known celebration in India called Mahashivaratri. After that I had decided to stay. For practices in yoga, and little did I know the world would progress. I was in silence for about 18 days, just days after that the world went into a lockdown. I came out of silence to face a new society. I was grateful for the experience where I was, as there was 2,500 of us within the the ashram each respecting the 6 foot distance, while going about the day, doing yoga practice, going to the temples within the ashram, many walks down to Adi Yogi within the ashram, peacocks surrounding the space, eating. Really deeply profound experience. To have this time to really go on this journey within, while maintaining the awareness of how Isha provided for the surrounding community with food and wellbeing of the community. Over the last few years I have been to India many times. Traveling into the Himalayas, studying Yoga in Rishikesh, traveling to the great city of Kashi - Varanasi, through Rajasthan, and into the south of India over the last few years. What are everyday mindfulness techniques you can share? Take time in the morning to connect to your breath, a small meditation to start with. I love setting intentions. Be grateful for life. Being aware of connection to self. I love honoring the elements. Food and wellbeing is important of course as well.



Tell us about your partnership with DAH! Yogurt. My work relationship working with DAH! is incredible and so genuine to me. It is a synergy I only dreamed of. Their plant based yogurt line made of almond milk is so delicious and perfect for dairy free eating, and the Lassi smoothie yogurt drinks are filled with billions of probiotics giving options to consumers, and offering gut health. Lassi is so delicious, and I would drink Lassi daily in India, which is where I first experienced it. I love to create yogurt bowls and make parfaits and other recipes with the almond milk yogurt. I also had Dahi in India daily, which they just added to the DAH! line as of September 1st. I love the work relationship I have with DAH! as we are synergistically aligned, and it is a product I truly love to eat. DAH! is a conscious brand which is so important, and exemplifies the ancient values of India I embrace.

Curried Stuffed Vegan Sweet Potatoes Servings: 4 Total Time: 50 min Skill level: 2 Ingredients: 4 medium sweet potatoes 1 15-ounce can of chickpeas, rinsed and drained 1 can of black beans 1 tablespoon of olive oil 1 clove of garlic, finely minced 1/2 teaspoon of cumin 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder 1/2 teaspoon of paprika 1/4 teaspoon of fine sea salt freshly cracked black pepper to taste A dollop of DAH! plain almond yogurt (dairy free) Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Stab each sweet potato a few times around with a fork and place them on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes-1 hour or until tender and easily pierced with a fork. 2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add in the olive oil. Once hot, add in the garlic, black beans, chickpeas, cumin, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and cook for 3 minutes. 3. When sweet potatoes are ready to serve, cut the center of the potatoes open and mash the inside. Divide the chickpea mixture evenly among the potatoes. Add a dollop of DAH! plain almond yogurt.

lackjack: The Jackie Ryan Story, which chronicles the life and career of legendary New York City street basketball player Jackie Ryan in the 1990’s, is the latest feature film by director Danny A. Abeckaser (Mob Town, First We Take Brooklyn) under his 2B Films production company, which has produced over 11 films to date. The film is slated for an October 30th release with Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company, a leading all-rights distributor of independent feature films and documentaries. Directed and produced by Danny A. Abeckaser, his third consecutive directed feature, it follows the success of indie hits Mob Town and First We Take Brooklyn. BlackJack: The Jackie Ryan Story shows a new side of Abeckaser, a bio-drama filled with heart and emotion. The cast stars Greg Finley (Secret Life of An American Teenager) with an incredible portrayal of Jackie Ryan, along with David Arquette, Ashley Greene, Moise Morancy, Brandon Thomas Lee, Robert Davi, Bo Dietl and James Madio, with featured cameos by Michael Rapaport, Sean Avery and Ben Lyons, as well as The Harlem Wizards.





You may recognize Abeckaser for his memorable acting role in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman alongside Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Bobby Cannavale. He will also co-star in the upcoming mob feature drama LANSKY alongside Sam Worthington and Harvey Keitel. Abeckaser does a great job of balancing his acting roles between his directorial passion projects, creating his own dynamic path that does not go unnoticed. Blackjack is a deviation from his recent series of mob flicks, showing the range of the Director, Producer and Actor who continues to forge his own path in Hollywood. Blackjack: The Jackie Ryan Story was produced under Abeckaser’s 2B Films production company. Abeckaser worked closely with the real Jackie Ryan to accurately have the story written. Jamie Agoglia: Tell us about the release of your newest film Blackjack: The Jackie Ryan Story Danny Abeckaser: I can’t wait for people to see this film, which was a true passion project. We spent two years working on the movie behind the scenes and finished production this past fall. To be able to finally debut it with Gravitas as our partner, is beyond exciting.




Why did you want to direct this film and tell this story? My first love is basketball, my second love is movies. There are so many reasons, but that sums it up. Tell us about the casting process for this. The casting process was more in depth than past projects, as we had to cast actors that could not only act and portray these biographical roles, but also actors who could play basketball. This was important to me as the director in order to be able to shoot this film accurately to tell the story of Jackie Ryan the way I wanted to tell it. What was it like directing this time, your third feature now under your belt? This time I enjoyed every minute because this film allowed me to be on a basketball court almost the entire movie, which just energized me. It was also the hardest. We had so many things to deal with. But it was worth it, and an incredible experience. This is a new genre for you, tell us about that? People think I just want to do mob movies. That’s not true, it just happened to be that First We Take Brooklyn, Mob Town and The Irishman all happened basically at the same time, and well, Lansky is up next. I do not think I will ever escape Mob Films, and I do love them, but I love all movies. Jackie Ryan was a story I wanted to tell, and the film was shot as authentic as possible. What do you enjoy about being on set? I enjoy every movie set, every experience. Being on set working is my favorite thing to do. Especially now, when I’m home, I am wishing I could do 18 hour days on set. Believe me. I would much rather be on set all day. I thrive there. Tell us about the bidding war on this film? Did you initially plan to put it in festivals? We certainly thought this could be a great festival movie. Tribeca was top of mind. But the world changed and we needed to adopt. In the end we had some great offers, which is all we can hope for, and we decided Gravitas will do a great job in getting the movie out. They were the right partner for this project, and I am super grateful it all aligned. I’m excited for people to see it.

he famed rapper dubbed “The King of Summer” Shwayze recently debuted his newest album, “Surf Trap,” released at the end of July 2020, with new singles off the album continuing to drop every few weeks.

Raised on the beaches of Southern California, Aaron Smith is a rapper, actor, musician, and father, became known to the world simply as Shwayze following a massive music breakout in 2008. His latest new album marks a new chapter of a storied career for Shwayze. The Malibu native released his debut album Buzzin’ that summer (2008) with singer-producer Cisco Adler. The duo hit the road immediately on the Vans Warped Tour. Shwayze has since gone on to work with an array of producers and release several independent albums such as Shwayze Summer on his self-funded Feel Good Entertainment Music label. He continues reinventing his sound while staying true to the influences that brought him where he is today. The past decade has boasted an impressive resume including a top 10 album, Billboard chart topping singles including ‘Buzzin’ and ‘Corona & Lime,’ a rock-doc reality show on MTV, and a number of roles in feature films and major network television- all while living on the road much of the year touring the world.




Shwayze continues to perform around the world and each year he finds new territories and fanbases to connect with. Last year he rolled out the highly anticipated full length EP “Beach Boy’, and his latest album “Surf Trap” that dropped this July is marking a new chapter of a storied career. What was your influence for the sound of the album? I wanted to stay true to my sound while sonically taking it to the next level. I worked with one of my favorite producers, Paul Couture, and we finished the album while on lockdown. I am extremely proud of this project and think it’s one of my best to date What was your inspiration for the album? I am a Malibu boy at heart, so my music is a product of my environment. Beach, Summer and ‘Feel Good’ music. Good Vibes Only! Did you collaborate with any other artists or musicians on the album? I worked with Cisco Adler, the Reggae band Hirie, and Fxckyeah (Formally Sky Blu from LMFAO) on the album tracks. I also have a new track out with the Common Kings called ‘California Day’ available on Spotify and Apple Music. Who are your musical inspirations? Red Hot Chili Peppers, NERD, Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, OutKast, The Police, 2Pac, Lenny Kravitz to name a few. What does Malibu life currently mean to you? Malibu life is more special than ever right now. I grew up here, but like most places you grow up, you tend to spend all your time trying to get away. I moved to Hollywood, then Austin, Texas and most recently to New York City, all while staying on the road playing shows year round. COVID has forced me to come back home and spend time with my family, and it’s been a beautiful reminder of how much I love this town, and how it’s influenced my lifestyle and music. What message do you want your music to provide? All good vibes. I’ve been coined the ‘King of the Summer’ by my listeners so it’s important to me to provide that escape from reality for them. No matter what season or what city you’re in when you pop on my music you’re right where you want to be. What is a luxurious lifestyle to you? I’m a simple man. Give me my health, my family, a few good friends, and a Bluetooth speaker...that’s all the luxury I need. MAXIMILIAN ACEVEDO ONE TO WATCH


T

here is a star on the rise, and he’s definitely one to watch. The 21 year old actor Maximilian Acevedo got his big break when he was cast on Nickelodeon’s “Henry Danger.” He is a fitness enthusiast with an avid focus on working out. He loves traveling and cars, fashion, sports and is up for any challenge. He was determined to make it in Hollywood from a young age, and his determination keeps him on a path for success, marked by this breakout role in The Babysitter 2 (Killer Queen). Maximilian Acevedo co-stars in McG’s upcoming highly anticipated sequel, “The Babysitter: Killer Queen,” out September 10th on Netflix. The “one to watch” Acevedo, a Los Angeles native, plays “Jimmy”, A “17 year old, handsome, ultimatebro” in the American comedy horror film, in which he stars alongside Bella Thorne, Leslie Bibb, Emily Alyn Lind, Jenna Ortega, Amanda Cerny, Hana Mae Lee and Robbie Amell. Maximilian is also part of the continuing animated series “Thumpy” on Cruise TV where he plays a version of himself. On the music front, he is also a recording artist and is signed with Thump/Universal. Maximilian’s young career is growing fast as he handles each coming challenge with no fear. Bradley Cruise: Why did you want to be an actor? Maximilian Acevedo: I want to be an actor because I want to influence people for the better. I want to be an escape for people’s reality. Life isn’t always easy and my personal outlet was always movies and television. So whenever I watched anything growing up, it gave me a motivation to be a part of that someday, so I too could make people feel what I was feeling. I want my work to motivate people to want more for themselves. I’m an actor because I’m a creator, but most of all, I am here to create emotions in people from all parts of the world.




What important lesson did you learn at a young age? I learned at a very young age that the amount of work and consistency that you dedicate to your body or performance can make you unstoppable, and that you can achieve anything that your heart desires. I was an only child and had to figure out a lot on my own as a result. Why do you love fitness? Do you have any fitness tips? It’s like a natural high. Workout tips I would give to people is to not lift with an ego, leave it outside the gym and workout with proper form and equipment. If you’re new to the gym, start off with light weights and progressively increase as strength goes up each week and month. It’s a lot easier to hurt yourself than you’d think. I’ve learned my lessons the hard way.

The new 8-seat Krispy Rice sushi bar is backdropped by a 14-foot lightbox image of Terry O’Neill’s vintage portrait of Raquel Welch on the beach. In addition to the refreshed decor, Doheny Room will now feature a customized sushi bar on the main floor, by sbe’s newly launched C3 brand Krispy Rice. The Krispy Rice concept was built around Katsuya’s beloved, signature Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, offering high-quality and responsibly sourced sushi.. This is the first physical outpost that joins the existing ghost kitchens. The menu offers variations of krispy rice from king salmon with yuzu to the plant-based truffle avocado to handrolls like spicy hamachi and wasabi in soy paper alongside maki rolls, nigiri and sashimi. Dinner service will be offered Tuesday through Saturday at the staple West Hollywood hotspot until 11pm, leading into evening nightlife hours.
