SONOMA FORGE FINCA LA DONAIRA

H

idden within the warm embrace of the rolling hills of southern Spain, and within the confines of simple stucco and tile, is the healing comfort and simple luxury of one of the world’s most revered resorts. Finca La Donaira, a one-of-a-kind boutique eco-luxury retreat, is set high in the Andalucian countryside between Seville and Ronda. Unparalleled service, food and outdoor experiences await. The ambience of La Donaire is of crucial importance to owner, Manfred Bodner, who was also the interior designer through his company, Themroc Design Ltd. All of the shapes and colors and textures and tastes of this unique place must communicate to the guest about the region, the environment, and the lifestyle. We are deeply honored that Mr. Bodner chose Sonoma Forge for his kitchen and bath fixtures. And we agree with his decision.

“We had been looking desperately for fixtures with the right personality and dimension to blend in with the overall design we had in mind. We sampled countless european models. Some felt ok, but when we unpacked them and held them against a stone wall in the halfconstructed Cortijo, the picture always fell apart. We used this process of “asking the house” a lot throughout the whole design process. It helped us create our quirky and very personal fusion of archaic structures and materials with industrial and postindustrial elements that make La Donaira today.

The nine rooms at Finca La Donaira include five in the main cortija, two across the courtyard and two designed as yurts set high on a hillside. Each is unique, some with enormous copper bathtubs and walk in showers, others with two stories, but all have gorgeous Sonoma Forge fittings, fantastically comfortable beds, and great style. In-keeping with the ethos of the property, all materials are natural: stone, iron, wood, leather, sheepskin and wool. Comfortable bedrooms all have sitting areas and large bathrooms offer underfloor heating for the chilly Andalucian winters. In the main cortijo, there are several sitting and lounge areas, with large scale furnishings and

superb artwork. Large windows invite you to appreciate the incomparable scenery looking out on the medicinal gardens, farm, and hills beyond. Our internet research showed Sonoma Forge a last potential candidate, and when a conference took me to San Francisco, Erik Ambjor, president and owner of Sonoma Forge brought samples to me so I finally could see and touch Sonoma Forge products. I was a bit nervous because we felt we had seen it all and nothing really worked, but it felt right from the start. Nevertheless we had to ask the house... Some time after that samples arrived in Spain and eventually the Cortijo said YES!” Manfred Donaire

Bodner,

Owner,

La

La Donaira features two outdoor “yurts” with the humble monikers of Yurt #1 and Yurt #2, and the simplicity is deceptive as these provide the ultimate in both outdoor romance and luxury commensurate with everything else that this unique resort has to offer. Embark on a sensory journey, rejuvenate and revitalize in our spa. Get inspired by their luxurious, infinity pool with exquisite views. Feel beautiful as you step into their hammam to detoxify, relax and purify your body and mind, or warm yourself up in their natural, log heated sauna.

As their logo suggests, Finca La Donaira’s equestrian center is a real highlight of the estate, complete with 70 Lusitano horses raised using Natural Horsemanship, a computerized dressage area, plus lessons and trails for the true novice to experienced riders. The experienced team can also tailor multi-day riding programs, should you wish. Sonoma Forge celebrates the art of skillful metalworking and machining by highlighting the beauty of metal in their unique line of designer faucets and tub fillers, dramatic shower systems, and coordinated bath accessories. Their distinctive product line offers homeowners refreshing design options with a decidedly masculine sense of style that enhances any setting, whether urban loft, country villa, or boutique hotel.

The 181 Fremont Grand Penthouse is exemplary MASS Beverly. The fourbedroom residence in a San Francisco skyscraper was fully furnished by MASS Beverly and Minotti Los Angeles with pieces by Bottega Veneta, Minotti, Swarovski, Verpan, and more. The home is a sophisticated retreat thanks to the use of American walnut wall panels, white limestone, and parquet wood floors. Amenities include a private elevator, wine tasting room and bar, study, exhibition kitchen and catering kitchen. Spaces are thoughtfully divided by custom pocket doors and floor-to-ceiling shelving by Italy’s Henge. The formal living area celebrates Minotti, includes a statement light by Matter Made, while the adjacent fireside lounge prominently features Thonet, the heritage brand that combines iconic steam-bent beechwood with tailored upholstery. In the master bedroom, Minotti’s Lawrence king bed, another Dordoni design, meets Lou nightstands by Christophe Delcourt. The design compliments spectacular city views.

Forest Knoll, located in Los Angeles, is an iconic modern farmhouse featuring contemporary furnishings by Minotti Los Angeles and MASS Beverly. The tailor-made selections were customized to reflect the clean and serene Danish-modern environment created by Standard Architecture. The interior spaces are quite wide-open, so furniture was used to designate different areas for varying purposes, from foyer, which organically shaped low tables from Henge, a reception lounge and a formal living area, all of which were furnished in clean, quiet colors and comforting materials. A handful of vintage pieces and modern accessories were selected to complement the natural woods used throughout the home and low-profile designs highlight the soaring ceilings. Also featured in Forest Knoll, the Minotti Lawrence sofa is the quintessential seating system. Its versatility and its iconic stitching design are a staple exemplifying refined taste. The double-level outdoor terraces feature pieces by Minotti and Expormim in cool grey tones to allow the natural hillside to sing. Overall, the goal was to create a tranquil retreat outfitted with comfortable classics and icons of modern luxury.

Reminiscent of MidCentury Modern design, the Minotti Connery sectional shown above is a sophisticated piece with strong architectural volumes and clean lines. The Minotti Mattia chair shown to the right is a modern reinterpretation with a nod to the 70’s. A balance between the structure and the volume creates a soft, luxurious look.

Handcrafted from the finest materials, the sleek forms of the iconic Henge Tape light creates unique lighting solutions. Light volumes, soft goose down padding, and metal backing details create a floating aspect to the new Henge Downtown sofa, designed by Massimo Castagna.

OFFICINE GULLO FIORENTINA

O

fficine Gullo pays tribute to Italian beauty and sophistication by means of Fiorentina, the new line of cooking appliances. A unique and valuable style able to enrich any typology of kitchen with personality and charm. In fact, the new Fiorentina collection was conceived to embellish those places already characterized by a specified style or design by introducing efficient and aesthetically satisfying elements having a strong personality.

Fiorentina is inspired by Tuscany, by any aspect of its culture, by its landscape, by its traditions and by its history of metalworking. The new cooking appliance with free placement, characterized by a “magnificent”style, was fully designed and developed in Italy to ensure the most of quality, of performances and of appearance in order to meet any culinary need making use of tradition and innovation.

For Officine Gullo, accuracy is as important as power; therefore, the high-performance burners, installed in the Fiorentina cooking appliances, ensure the right amount of flame thanks to 5 combinations, with as many configurations, for an almost endless control. As a matter of fact, burners made of brass are resistant to the highest temperatures, but they are also able to supply the feeblest flames.

MIKEL TUBE HANDCRAFTED WOODEN DIVING BOARDS

T

he harder a high-end product is to find, the more originality and uniqueness it possesses. The wooden diving boards by Mikel Tube certainly enters this category. What once started as a single project has now become a full time activity with customers all over the world. Years of experience are the foundation of their quality and constant innovation. This makes them unique - and the last of their kind remaining.

flexibility while also being very sustainable. But this kind of wood also needs a particular approach. Unlike classic types of wood, IPE has its own way. Years of experience have ensured that those special assembly techniques are mastered by Mikel. Starting with the exclusive “floating” technique® at first and now releasing the innovative “tension” technique®, makes the wooden diving boards of Mikel Tube unique.

Winner of the Los Angeles International Design Awards in 2014 for the Revelation 1 model and now competing with the new Derover 1 model, a certain success. In 2020, the Derover 1 was launched and immediately got the attention of the industry. Some describe it as a piece of art. Indeed the new techniques used have allowed to create a stunning wooden diving board without losing the initial basic design that distinguishes the products of Mikel Tube.

Is a handcrafted wooden diving board the icing on the cake? You might think of Mikel’s designs like a jewel that finalizes the whole project, be it a swimming pool or a motor yacht. The owner has made a real effort to find the top location, a pool designer who perfectly embeds the project into this environment, a pool builder then carefully deploys what has been conceived. All this effort will stand out with a beautiful diving board. Compare it with dressing up for a special evening, the jewel will be put on last, the finishing touch to make it all perfect.

Each board is handcrafted and can be personalized to your wishes. The specific design could be created by the very pure and light surface with a solid backbone which is invisible due the particular assembling. This allows Mikel Tube to change the length of the board to your wishes. The best wood for a diving board is Brazilian hardwood TAMBUIA, better known as IPE. It offers strengt h and

Design, innovation, respect for nature and a constant effort to improve are the main pillars of the brand that pioneered the use of specific techniques. Located in Belgium, they are proud to export the bulk of their production all over the world, adding the Belgian sense of precision and correctness in the package.

Renowned all over the world and adopted by the most beautiful residential pools and motor yachts on the planet. Mikel Tube stands for personal relationships with customers. A small dedicated team handles the one to one contact creating a trustful relationship over any geographical distance. Mikel personally gives advice and creates the design of the global project if requested. Once a week Mikel takes the time to discuss projects remotely via video conferencing, after which he would reach out to Robert in Melbourne or Caroline in Los Angeles for example. “How would you want our customers to trust us unless they can reach us” would be his most repeated guideline. After a customer has initiated a request, a dedicated point-ofcontact will be designated to help this particular customer through the whole process. Starting with advice on the type of board or the size of the bracket, then entering the phase of safety communication and maintenance and finally ending with the helping hand on shipping and delivery, there is always one dedicated personal contact for every customer. Blending beauty, fun, and functionality is what design is all about. Combining quality, style, and affordability is the real challenge. Every design lover knows it comes with a price. Finding the delicate balance between quality, affordability, and style. These is the key elements to creating a unique product that sells.

Mikel advises every pool owner to add a diving board as a safety measure. Water is not the natural habitat for people, so safety should be one of the major concerns of a pool owner. A diving board will orient the diver to the deep end of your pool, making him dive from the spot where he/she can not touch the bottom of the pool. Diving from the deck on the shallow end will always be dangerous. Some of Mikel’s customers use the diving board cover to give a clear message to their children that the pool is not open. Mikel will even have a specific message embroidered on the cover if requested. One of the major impacts that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the company is the surging cost of shipping. The boards, with an average weight of 220 pounds, are packed in special designed, reusable crates. The pandemic led to a worldwide crisis in aviation and with less space available, ocean freight is also now offered as a possibility for the patient customer. But the COVID-19 pandemic also brought some challenges that were less expected. The ban on travel makes it difficult to have photoshoots at the exotic places where Mikel’s customers reside. Instead, they team at Mikel Tube will reach out to their existing customers in 2021 and request that they enter the world wide competition for the most beautiful project. The winners, based on the number of likes on the dedicated Instagram portal, will be rewarded with the optional Diving Bench model.

STEINWAY & SONS SPIRIO

I

f we’re fortunate, most of us hear great artists only from a distance—from the balcony of a concert hall, the back of a club, a stadium—admired but untouchable. But what if it were possible to hear the world’s greatest pianists live in your living room? An iconic American piano maker has brought this vision to reality. STEINWAY & SONS, makers of the finest pianos in the world, has been a New York original since 1853. Founded by German immigrant Henry E. Steinway and his sons in a small loft in Manhattan, the company expanded its manufacturing operations to Queens, New York in the 1870s. The historic STEINWAY Astoria factory is the headquarters of one of the greatest American success stories ever written—a story about a company committed to exquisite craftsmanship, unrivaled musicality, and continuous improvement through technology. In 2015, STEINWAY launched one of its most significant product innovations in recent years—the incredible SPIRIO—hands down the world’s finest high resolution player piano. Handcrafted with a rich color palette, warmth, and resonance, SPIRIO unlocks the STEINWAY experience regardless of playing ability, revealing the true essence, nuance, and soulfulness of a live performance.

SPIRIO quickly expanded STEINWAY & SONS from its irrefutable position as a 167-year-old American musical icon with an obsession for quality to a leader in innovation and player piano technology. The original “playback” SPIRIO—also a fully playable STEINWAY grand piano—was joined in 2019 by the launch of SPIRIO | r, which is now capable of playback plus live performance recording. SPIRIO is available in STEINWAY grand piano Model B and Model M. SPIRIO | r is available in STEINWAY grand piano Model D and Model B. A FULLY PLAYABLE STEINWAY First and foremost, SPIRIO pianos can be played like any other STEINWAY, the instrument artists have chosen for over 167 years for its broad palette, warmth and depth of tone, powerful resonance, and unmatched touch response. Much like the megapixel revolution of the digital camera, SPIRIO | r offers exclusive high-resolution recording, preserving all the music: every dynamic level from infinitesimal gradations of hammer velocity, and every shade of resonance from proportional pedaling—now at your fingertips. The artisans at STEINWAY & SONS seamlessly install SPIRIO | r technology at the time of manufacture, ensuring no alteration in the musical performance nor compromise in the instrument’s beauty. The STEINWAY SPIRIO allows you to hear concertizing artists from the comfort of your home. Using an advanced player piano system supported by a Bluetoothenabled iPad app, the user has access to an expansive music library. The majority of pieces are pre-recorded by elite STEINWAY Artists at a specially equipped STEINWAY studio in New York, but there are historical performances available as well. Some of the featured performers include Lang Lang, Yuja Wang, Olga Kern, Bill Charlap, Billie Eilish, Billy Joel, and Ramsey Lewis, as well as immortal artists like Sergei Rachmaninoff, George Gershwin, and Vladimir Horowitz. When a user selects music from the app, SPIRIO performs the artist’s exact keystrokes, making SPIRIO the only player piano in the world that can bring live music played by STEINWAY Artists into a listener’s own home. The music library continues to grow each month as new recordings and video performances are added to the library at no additional charge.

PLAY, RECORD, LISTEN, EDIT SPIRIO | r permits users to record and listen to performances in stunning state-of-the-art high resolution — with all the nuance, power, and passion on display. Simple, intuitive controls offer the ability to save and share user-created recordings in multiple file formats including SPIRIO high resolution, MIDI, and MP3 high quality sampled audio. Native to the SPIRIO app, the SPIRIO editor provides the world’s only advanced iPad– based high resolution editing capabilities to SPIRIO files, allowing users to edit every detail of their SPIRIO recordings. SPIRIO editing features include the ability to modify note velocity (dynamic); modify note duration (start- and end-times); correct wrong notes (remove or replace); modify pedal data (sustain and shift); and delete or add time. “Buying a piano does not have to mean waiting for a pianist to play it at home,” said Lang Lang, STEINWAY Artist and STEINWAY SPIRIO Ambassador. “It’s a major leap, a milestone — with superb craftsmanship.” Every STEINWAY piano (including SPIRIO) is a marvel of fine hand-craftsmanship and design which takes nearly a year to make. It begins with only the finest quality solid woods selected and seasoned for up to two years before the piano is crafted. The skills required to build a STEINWAY have been handed down from master to apprentice, generation after generation, to fulfill Henry E. Steinway’s wish “to build the best piano possible.” Today STEINWAY is the choice of ninety-eight percent of concertizing artists, none of whom are compensated to endorse the instrument. “NOW WE ARE FREE”

ISABELLE VAN ZEIJL ENIGMATIC REBIRTH

I

sabelle Van Zeijl invests herself in her images. She takes female beauty ideals from the past and sabotages them in the context of today. By using subjects that intrigue and evoke emotion, she reinvents herself repeatedly and has created a body of work to illustrate these autobiographical narratives. Her work takes from all she experiences in life - she is both the model, creator, object, and subject. Going beyond the realm of individual expression, so prevalent in the genre of self-portraiture, she strives to be both universal and timeless. Her love for nature and metamorphosis is also identifiable in the rebellious way she reshapes the dresses of well-known fashion designer Claes Iversen, whose designs she sabotaged into new forms in her early series “Camouflaged Beauty.” The embroidered flowers on the body indicate the process of our natural and inherent need to grow and continually progress; it illustrates the transformation from one phase of life to another, including the metamorphosis of a child into a woman. Transformation is a real and lasting change, however, is not a oncein-a-lifetime achievement, but rather a means by which we move forward, towards wholeness. Over the past fifteen years, Van Zeijl has shown work internationally. She is represented by galleries in the U.K., the U.S., the Netherlands, Belgium, and exhibits at emerging and established international art fairs in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, London, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, and Italy. She was nominated for the Prix De La Photographie Paris and The Fine Art Photography Awards. Her work is held in private & public collections in the USA, U.K., Belgium, Germany, France and The Netherlands. She is represented in the U.S. by Christopher Martin Gallery from Aspen and Dallas. “The root of hope lives in all of us. Is a flower not the perfect metaphor for hope? You begin with the hope that seeds turn into something beautiful. This flower series is about giving back and sharing hope and beauty with others. Let the seeds of our hope grow to abundant and viral beauty.” -Isabelle Van Zeijl Originally from The Netherlands, Isabelle Van Zeijl creates enigmatic self-portraits representing transformation, rebirth, and growth. Touched by the beauty in her works, we can reconnect with the natural world and history, as we so profoundly yearn to. Her work is a visual celebration of hope, renewal, and growth. Inspired by the relationship between humanity and nature, Van Zeijl evolves her practice towards the reinvention of the self. For her latest work, Van Zeijl turned her eye on 400 million flowers destroyed during the quarantine. Using flowers salvaged from her local growers in the Netherlands, Isabelle has created a stunning series of photographs of enigmatic beauty.

“REBIRTH PORTRAIT”

“ALL THAT WAS ME IS GONE”

Inspired by the relationship between humanity and the horse, Van Zeijl traveled the Wild West upon horseback in search of the iconic American symbol: The Wild Horse that still lives freely on the Western rangelands. The horse is a universal symbol of freedom. Emerging from a long evolution stretching back nearly 50 million years comes the horse, a wild beauty. The horse reminds us of overcoming obstacles and how one should carry oneself in the face of adversity. As a spirit animal, the horse works hard to tell us to take care of our emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. In some cultures, white horses stand for the balance of wisdom and power. Riding horses made people feel they could free themselves from their bindings. Representing the strength of maturity to handle what life brings, black horses were messengers of esoteric knowledge, keeper of secrets and mysteries. The meaningful relationship between horses and humans inspired Van Zeijl to investigate and dive deep to create a series of self-portraits with horses. Last January, Isabelle photographed herself with the horses every night under the moonlight. Every night she sat naked on the concrete floor in a freezing Aspen cold barn in front of her camera. To gain the horse’s trust, she had to evolve into complete surrender. Horses often mirror our deepest fears. They are typically non-judgmental, have no preconceived expectations or motives, and are highly effective at reflecting the humans’ attitudes and behaviors. These series carry out an important message for all of us. It is time to embark on the ultimate voyage through inner space, learn about trust, surrender, achieve the impossible, reach for the stars, and feel like we can touch them. “MOONSHOT”

STEVE WRUBEL AMERICAN RODEO’S NEW MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER

C

alifornia raised and Texas based, photographer Steve Wrubel has turned his lens towards the power, leather, dirt and sweat of the American Rodeo. After 25 years in commercial and fine art photography, Wrubel made a move to focus solely on creating art that reflects what he loves – The West. Inspired by stories from his family’s past in the Mojave Desert, his new work takes us to a place of light, motion, space, energy and detail that begs us to question what it is to be alive. Inspired early on by photographer Richard Avedon’s seminal work – IN THE AMERICAN WEST – Wrubel’s work has always been about separating a subject from its familiar background in order to focus on its details with undisturbed clarity. His objective is to present a truer feeling and understanding of the people and animals in his work. In his RODEO series, Wrubel uses graphic and technological techniques to stop the action of those on horse or bull riding - so the audience can see the beautiful dance that until now has remained hidden in the raucous nature of the sport. By taking away visually distracting backgrounds, Wrubel’s work invites the viewer to focus clearly on the finer and often unseen details of his subjects, offering a deeper story of what is going on in the split second that his images were created. Steve’s bold compositions and soft but vibrant and complementary color palettes coax in - the most seasoned eye to behold the timelessness of these photographs thus creating new icons of the American West

The competitive equestrian sport that we all recognized as Rodeo arose out of the working practices of cattle herding in Spain and Mexico. Today, it is a sporting event that involves horses and other livestock, designed to test the skill and speed of the cowboys and cowgirls. American style professional rodeos generally comprise several events such us saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, bull riding and barrel racing. Most of Steve series focuses on bronc and bull riding, a rodeo event that involves a rodeo participant riding a bucking horse (sometimes called a bronc or bronco) or a bull that attempts to throw or buck off the rider. The rider attempts to stay on the horse for eight seconds without touching the horse or bull with their free hand. Bronc riding is now a highly stylized

competition that utilizes horses that often are specially bred for strength, agility, and bucking ability. Since his first inspiration to jump into the world of rodeo photography in the summer of 2019, Wrubel has put over 30,000 miles on his Pickup truck. Criss crossing the western states in search of dynamic rodeo moments, he has been to rodeos and ranches in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Montana. His drive to dive further and further into the culture and the experience of the American Rodeo and Western Culture has allowed him access to the rare air of rodeo photography in events such as The American, The Riggin’ Rally, The NFR, The Gold Buckle Knockout at the Cervi Ranch and even buck up practices at the occasional private ranch.

Wrubel explains, “Finding a way to get in the dirt without getting in the way, and not getting run over by a 1500 pound wild horse is all part of the chase, the excitement and what takes to become a part of the image. To really feel and become a part of the energy and chaos and turn it in to a split second representation of that amazing dance between man and beast.” Wrubel has exhibited in solo shows in San Francisco, Boston, Santa Fe, Aspen, Dallas and in Los Angeles in 2021 at Maxwell Alexander Gallery. He is represented by Christopher Martin Gallery of Aspen and Dallas, and Tierra Mar Gallery of Santa Fe. Wrubel Rodeo Series are released as limited editions either in color or black and white. Presently two editions are available with 8 pieces sized as 40”x 40” and 12 pieces as 30”x 30”. To this date several editions are sold out in the color series at one or both sizes. This ongoing series of work is sure to continue to excite the eyes and minds of the viewer. Steve is continuously on the move - always on point to find the next rodeo or chance to exercise his process. These stunning images that Steve is creating have evoked an impressive season of collecting and will inevitably continue to do so. A truck, a camera and sense of wonder keep Wrubel looking always to the West for inspiration.

ALI ENTERPRISES INC. THE ARTISTIC EXPERIENCE

T

he passion and imagination behind creating a successful outdoor living space requires a professional eye who sees both the natural beauty of the space and the homeowner’s vision. When you think of your outdoor living space you want to view it as an extension of your home. Some homeowners look for the “wow” reaction, some look for a relaxing space to breath with a good book, others look for a dynamic elegant party experience. Often, clients look to feel all these sensations. Overall, the goal is to create a functional space that meets and often exceeds the homeowner’s expectations while providing a purposeful artistic experience. Designer and builder Ali Felschow of Ali Enterprises Inc. bases her projects around the experience, the feel which she explains is different for every homeowner. Having designed outdoor living spaces for over 20 years, Ali

Enterprises Inc. has a reputation for creating timeless showcases that integrate seamlessly with their natural surroundings and feel comfortable and inviting. “I didn’t start out in the field of design. In college I went to school for Art in Atlanta, naturally I learned how to manipulate spaces on paper but that is nothing like seeing it before your eyes. When it comes to the pool construction industry, my experience really did start at the bottom. During school I worked as a pool maintenance technician working and cleaning pools of different shapes, sizes, colors, and locations. As I got older and with a better understanding of a pool’s functionality, I was able to take my artistic knowledge and really use it to understand the flow of natural spaces in pool construction. Since then I have been a part of hundreds of different creations and different visions.

“I take this hands-on experience and my familiarity in the area of pool construction and maintenance to my client’s advantage.” Ali explains, “The wonder of color and texture transcends the imagination. My creations are designed to stimulate the senses beyond the trivialities of everyday life and allow you to experience the elements of the design while enhancing the space.” When designing the perfect space often you must look at the bigger picture. Bringing imagination to life needs a hands-on experience. “When I refer to hands-on experience, I’m not simply talking about my previous experience in construction. Design is a creative experience that goes hand and hand with an education. Traveling has helped educate me on different ways to build and overcome obstacles. Necessary items do not need to be boring or standard. A drain cover is a very necessary item when designing outside spaces. When traveling in Austria the Melk Abby, I noticed the hand cut drain covers which was a fantastic way to make a functional part of a project be a decorative piece that really makes you stop and look at the details in a new way. Every facet of the world has a unique way of solving problems related to everyday life, we just must “see” the creativity. Ali takes interest in how the client lives. She likes to study the family dynamic, the style they seek and how everything flows inside and out. With these additional details she attempts to create a design that fits the clients best. “Seeing a homeowner comfortable in their natural environment really helps me develop a stronger connection with the space.” As clients travel from Coast to Coast they do so to experience new places and want their spaces to fit their life style yet invoke a inner connection.

Ali enjoys the conversation and learning about people and the imaginations of the different people she encounters. “While I believe I can create a lot of great ideas on my own, it is nice to take a page from a client’s book. They live with the space every day, they stare at it and formulate ideas in their head while you are still processing that the space exists. Sometimes just listening provides you with a great deal of insight.” Ali states, “Crafting a space that can be used during all seasons is a personal priority for me. If I cannot provide a beautiful 365-day experience for my clients than I have not done my job.” Elegance can only be provided when the correct details are supplied at the right time with close attention to flow, functionality, and spacial awareness to create an enjoyable and easy experience for both client and contractor. “Designing is the first look into what a space could become. I love seeing the look on my clients face when I show them a 3D rendering of what the space could be. When I complete a design and I see that my client loves it, it creates a euphoric feeling and makes this job worth it every day.” From new construction to renovation, Ali enjoys the challenge. She holds a certification for the Society of Water Shape Designers (created by GENESIS) and Watershape University. Ali attended the University of South Carolina and graduated from the Art Institute of Atlanta with honors. She is an artist, painter, and does pottery work as well. Ali works to incorporate different artistic designs into the water shapes and hardscapes. Just how an interior designer incorporates art into your home, she incorporates art into your outdoor space. She continues to study her environment and enjoys new experiences. She continues to evolve beyond simplistic design to create new and unique designs in every space.

BAXTER WORLDWIDE 2020 PROJECT

“B

axter Worldwide 2020” project was born from the impossibility of bringing the Baxter community to Milan and in particular from the question “if they can’t come to us, why don’t we go to them?”, says Paolo Bestetti, Baxter’s CEO. The interesting thing is that, during the lockdown period, Baxter decided to transform this closure into a new opportunity by setting up this project, in which the goal was to involve the partners and, together with them, present the new collection to the professional community and brand lovers. The main challenge was to make people understand the new collection from a distance, always trying to express the essence of Baxter, which is not just design, but above all emotion and sensoriality. “We therefore tried to combine technology with the emotion and physicality of the product, thinking of letting people enter the new Baxter home and take them on a journey inside this house. This was the first step related to the digital part.

The other step instead concerns the physical part, the contact. Baxter has always carried out research on color and materials and this is a very difficult aspect to be conveyed at a distance. Material is something you feel and that gives you emotions. We then physically shifted our research at customers’ premises and what fascinated us the most was their reaction in previewing the new top secret products with a mix of digital and sensory clues, personally touching new leathers and new materials”, continues Paolo Bestetti. The research on the 2020 collection began one year earlier and has undergone ongoing changes. The initial brief was to work on comfort and shapes that were soft and reassuring. This is how all the products, including the new sofa by Paola Navone (where comfort stands out) bring with them this reassuring aspect, as if the product conveys a sense of protection. Also, as for the development of the Piaf sofa, which is a product of the previous year, the intent was to give it more comfortable shapes and elongated seats.

Beside the development of new products, there is also the famous color research, as explained by Stefano Guidotti, head of Baxter’s style department. “This year’s palettes are essentially three. The first features classic, almost reassuring colours, which were then combined with elements of great contrast. It starts with browns, then all the warm tones of chocolate, combined with a very strong blueberry blue and a camel color. In addition to the colors of the leathers, each palette is then combined with materials; in this case brass and white marbles such as Bianco Gioia. The second color palette is declined in various shades of green; starting from military green combined with a very bright lime green which are combined with greys. The associated metal is alpaca, therefore a cold grey as if it was a kind of silver. The last palette, on the other hand, is decidedly surprising, in the sense that a very bright turquoise has been combined with a

“nude” color, a sort of flesh color.” A research that aims to lead to recognition, as at a certain point the objects have to speak regardless of the logo itself, and this is also what happens for the new “Baxter Worldwide 2020” collection. Part of the design of the novelties was carried out internally by the style department, while other products were designed by the Designers we have been collaborating for years with: Draga & Aurel, Paola Navone, Federico Peri, Pietro Russo, Studiopepe. Technology has certainly been of great support in being able to realize this project and, as Baxter’s President Luigi Bestetti tells us “It was truly a novelty. It’s something I really enjoyed: being seated at my desk and seeing the whole team on one screen to discuss what’s new. Doing something new and getting it right immediately is what keeps you going.”

Baxter usually presents the novelties of the year in Milan, but that’s not all. The intent is to create a community that encompasses all the brand’s partners and lovers, organizing events such as at Baxter Cinema in Milan or at the Sheraton Diana Majestic Hotel, creating a convivial moment. “The most interesting aspect of the Worldwide project is that we will start from Tokyo and on the same day, we will tour the primary locations in the world passing through Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Bangkok, Moscow, Tel Aviv, Paris, Milan, Rome, London, New York up to reach Los Angeles. “Twenty-four hours with Baxter!“ concludes Paolo Bestetti.

CARLISLE WIDE PLANK FLOORS PRESERVING THE AUTHENTIC BEAUTY OF NATURE

I

n a world where organic materials and a connection to nature are more important than ever before, artisan-crafted wide plank wood floors offer a unique way to bring the “art of wood” into interior spaces. For more than 50 years, Carlisle Wide Plank Floors has handcrafted the finest wood floors in America – each one reflecting the natural beauty of the highest quality raw materials available. Carlisle takes great pride in its time-honored processes, from sourcing the soundest and most reliable timber grown in America’s forests to embracing a level of craftsmanship equally at home with traditional rustic themes or with fashion-forward style. Carlisle believes that every detail of every floor matters. Whether it’s just the right shade of gray or the nuance of a handscraped edge, the company’s design team collaborates with each client to define a personalized, custom-made floor. And while that floor may be selected from Carlisle’s extensive, curated Collections or be uniquely designed to match a specific vision, it will be realized in the same way: one plank at a time. Founded in 1966, Carlisle Wide Plank Floors originally sawed, cured and milled solid Eastern White Pine boards over 20 inches wide to be used in the restoration of Early American homes. Throughout the decades, the company has expanded its manufacturing capabilities and honed its unique finishing methods to encompass a wide spectrum of woods, textures and finishes to create distinctive masterpieces for the home. Most of the timber Carlisle uses today can be found in forests throughout America. Carlisle works exclusively with a small, carefully selected group of sawyers who responsibly harvest wood from regions of the country where each species grows best. Boards are created from the center (or heart) of the tree, where the oldest growth wood can be found. These timbers feature more heartwood and dense vertical grain – characteristics important to the stability and beauty of a wide plank floor. Because Carlisle boards all originate from the same stand of timber, the resulting floors exhibit a richer, more consistent color than found in mass produced products, and a cohesiveness that emanates across the entire floor.

Approaching the creation of a wood floor as a labor of love, Carlisle’s skilled artisans carefully craft each floor – shaping and refining each plank while preserving the timber’s natural beauty. This custom, handcrafted approach incorporates meticulouslypracticed techniques to bring to light the inherent essence and character of each plank. As many as two dozen pairs of hands will touch each floor during its journey from rough timber to a work of art. In addition to offering a timeless aesthetic and long-term durability, wide plank wood floors make spaces appear and feel larger. Depending on the wood species, Carlisle offers planks up to 20 inches wide with average lengths of 6-7 feet, which is uncommon in the wood flooring industry.

Wider and longer planks will mean fewer butt joints and seams than traditional width hardwood floors, which helps to open spaces while highlighting the natural variation of the wood grain. Wide plank hardwood floors have a classic, timeless appeal that infuses spaces with a sense of luxury. Available in a range of species, colors, finishes and textures, they complement a wide array of decor styles. Carlisle offers a broad continuum of flooring options, ranging from its standard Collections to fully customized floors. Customers can also make slight modifications – from simply adding a texture, changing the sheen or thinning the stain – to create a statement-making floor that will become the centerpiece of their home.

Hardwood flooring continues to be the gold standard for luxury and patterned floors. Also known as parquet, patterned flooring has become a popular way to add visual interest and upscale appeal to any room in a home. While rooted in history and tradition and showing up in interiors for centuries, Chevron and Herringbone patterns continue to be some of the most requested patterns for elegant homes all over the world. To give the patterns a modern feel, Carlisle offers many color choices – from natural to whitewash to deep ebony. Other available parquet options include Hexagon, Versailles and Basketweave along with customdesigned patterns. Although wide plank flooring is often viewed as being more traditional in style, it also lends itself to transitional and contemporary design styles. Versatile and beautiful, Carlisle’s floors can be installed on radiant heat or a concrete slab, in waterfront or mountain homes, in big or small rooms – offering ultimate flexibility. Whether an exclusive Carlisle Collection floor or a fully customized Carlisle floor, solid or engineered, unfinished or prefinished, Carlisle offers virtually unlimited possibilities to meet any design need and aesthetic preference.

METRON GARAGE THE INTERSECTION OF ARCHITECTURE, ART & AUTOMOBILES

W

hen Timothy Hogue spotted the trend early on for how the luxury garage would evolve, he instinctively knew what the market of auto enthusiasts and car collectors would demand. They’re many of the same things that move him. And it all starts with design. “Design moves people,” says Hogue. “I see this everywhere: in the lines of a car that create simultaneous flow and tension, in the brushstrokes of a painting, and in the interplay of structure and space in architecture.” Hogue majored in Architectural Design and Commercial Art, minoring in Fine Art and Business at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY., home of the Corvette. At his core, Hogue is a genuine gear head. He’s also a craftsman, a CEO and an artist. In his spare time, he creates automotive artwork using both digital tools and acrylic paint on

canvas. If he puts down the paintbrush on the weekend, you might find him scouring out another watch to add to his collection. “I love and collect older TAG Heuer Chronographs, as well as Rolex Daytona and Rolex Submariner watches,” says Hogue. “I love the concept of time. It’s so valuable. We never have enough of it.” And in a world that has recently made us slow down and reflect on what’s most important, a garage has taken on even more purpose as it provides a place nearby to spend time with friends and family, admire a car collection, double as a home office or provide space for a simple getaway or social gathering. No longer an architectural afterthought, the private home garage is establishing itself as a standalone building, providing another layer of security and space for both cars and drivers.

Traditional two- and three-bay garages are cramped on space, while larger attached garages can sometimes start to resemble an obtuse bolt-on to an otherwise sophisticated, well-designed home. “And with all due respect to collectors and where they store their vehicles: some car collections just don’t belong in a barn,” says Hogue. “We use materials far superior in strength and durability to protect such important investments from fire, winds, rain and other elements while providing a relaxing social space for life’s finer comforts.” Seeing the need for a company to provide this next level garage, in 2015 Hogue launched a new company at the intersection of architecture, art and automobiles to meet the demand.

Hogue recalls: “I was smoking a good cigar and sitting beside my favorite car in my traditional garage. The more I did that, the more it took me back to being a young man working in my grandfather’s garage, building engines and cars.” For Hogue, those were hours well spent, providing time for great discussions, observations, contemplation and life lessons learned from his dad and grandfather. He took many lessons from those sessions and applies them now to the way he lives and runs his companies. Hogue’s company Metron Garage is a sister organization to one of Hogue’s other longestablished brands. For decades his team has designed and fabricated all types of structures including commercial office space, industrial buildings, carwashes, convenience stores and custom homes. He’s applying that expertise to Metron, which designs and customizes the garages, and also pre-engineers the frames and materials to be used during the build. They use the same super-strong tubular steel framework and materials, with a powdercoated frame system somewhat unique in the construction industry. With certain guidelines followed, it allows many customers to take advantage of tax benefits through accelerated depreciation, while getting a commercially strong building that can stand the test of time. Auto dealerships and motorsports parks across the country have recently learned about Metron and are signaling interest in using the structures for other creative commercial use. “The recycled steel we use is sourced only in North America,” explains Hogue. “The refinement in the recycling process removes impurities, making the steel even stronger than the original.” The North American steel, created with the highest specifications of anywhere in the world, lets Metron’s designs hold even more weight and accomplish greater design spans with an exposed beam look, which references a popular look typically accomplished with timber frames.

Second stories are often part of the designs the clients demand today. An elevated level provides even more creative ways use the space. Plus it’s an angle of automobiles you don’t see every day. A garage is no longer for the cars. It’s for the people. It’s for life. Clients are also now asking for solar power installations, electric vehicle charging stations, even car elevators to bring a vehicle up a floor. The sky’s the limit with the design. That goes for the interior and exterior finishes for siding, floor, roofing and ceiling. Wood panel, aluminum composite cladding, fiber cement, stonework and drywall are all options for finishing out a space. At the end of the day, taste is highly subjective. At the same time, there are some timeless elements of design that shine through in a project done well. And these days, the ability to make the space and time to simply sit and contemplate the items you love is where Hogue finds himself drawn to more and more. Hogue sums it up this way: “You learn about yourself. And you learn what sort of beauty in this world drives you.”

SESSHU DESIGN CONNOISSEUR OF CULTURE AND HOME

T

anya Shively purposefully works to make your life simpler and less complicated. She is the trusted Interior Designer for dozens of families throughout the Western US. She appreciates the site and interprets interiors to reflect it specifically and uniquely for each client. As a connoisseur of taste, she’ll ensure your home is sophisticated and timeless. When did your passion for interior design begin? I didn’t recognize it at the time, but it probably goes back to around age 8. As a young girl I loved rearranging furniture in my bedroom and my parent’s living room. For my 12th birthday, I asked for a redesign of my bedroom with paint, bedding, window coverings, etc – and I selected them all myself. My favorite toys to play with as a kid were Lincoln logs and Legos which I used to build houses and rooms. This was when I wasn’t drawing anything and everything. Art was my favorite class in school, and I took it every year as my elective until I graduated. In high school, I actually had a class in interior design, and that is when I knew what all of those interests added up to for a career, and I never looked back. After high school, I pursued a degree

in interior design and then went to work for a small high-end design studio in Scottsdale. I learned a lot about the business, and how to work with architects and builders. After about 9 years there, I was feeling ready to have a little more control in the final design results and in my own destiny, so I opened Sesshu Design in 2005. How did your love for design begin to cross over with your love for the environment? I grew up across the street from Grand Teton National Park – literally. (My parent’s house is on the border of the park.) And just 60 miles from Yellowstone. So, the idea of protecting the natural beauty around us was just part of what I always understood to be our responsibility as stewardship of the planet. As I studied design I was exposed to the ideas of Ed Mazria, the American architect, a leader in sustainable design and founder of Architecture 2030, which advocates for more sustainable building design to minimize the effects of climate change. I recognized that we have a unique opportunity and responsibility in the design industry to make an impact of the future of the planet.

At the same time, I really love the way things like reclaimed wood add character and a story to a home that new materials just don’t. Finding old doors or gates and either reusing them or repurposing them as furniture came with a project I worked on in Santa Fe, and I loved how much interest that added to the home. It is so much better than just tossing them in the landfill. What inspired you to focus on sustainability and health in your interior design at Sesshu? My focus on health comes from my Dad, who has had severe chronic asthma my entire life. Things like dust, dander, mold, and allergens were a concern in our house, and making changes to reduce or eliminate those was something we addressed when I was young. As I became a professional, I heard more about how many people suffer from these kinds of health issues, and I realized that I could help them make a difference in their quality of life by the materials we chose for their home. Tell us about your mission behind WELL Designed™ homes. The concept of WELL Designed encompasses all of these ideas, but also takes into account the idea that people want luxury and especially livability in their home. I believe that you can have all of those things, that there is no reason to sacrifice any one for the other. In fact, many times choosing a healthy and sustainable option is a true winwin where it enhances or supports your health and well-being and is also better for the environment. I believe that your health is the most important aspect of all of these, which is why it comes first. The environment is critical as well – if we don’t take care of the planet, we have nowhere else to go. Livability is important for your enjoyment of your home and how it functions for your family and your everyday needs. And if we don’t have a little bit of luxury and beauty then we are giving up too much quality of life. I want my clients to understand that if approached correctly, their home can be all of these things and create a true sanctuary and refuge from the world which welcomes them every time they enter it. I think that COVID has only served to underscore that concept.

What is the collaboration process like between you and a new client? The first thing I do is ask them how much they want to be involved – just the big picture, or do they want to really get involved in all the details. Either way works for me, but it changes how I approach the initial research phase of the process. Generally it is somewhere in the middle, and so I gather some information from them upfront about they things like and dislike, how they live, and I ask them to do some homework to put together a file of images of homes they like. I take all of that information and start gathering materials and additional images to get a first pass concept or mood for the spaces we are designing. I also put together a preliminary budget and furniture layout. We meet so I can get their feedback to refine the style and details of what we will be specifying and/or purchasing. Once all of these are approved, I go back to fill in the holes and flesh out the design concept with more materials, ideas, and specific items. I present those and get more feedback or approval. If we need to refine any selections, I will do that. When we have approval on the majority of if not all items, we move into our construction document drawing phase or the purchasing phase for furnishings. All along the way, the client’s input is requested and required to proceed further, so they have a feeling of ownership of the design and a sense of confidence in the process. There is a lot of back and forth, feedback and input, conversation and clarification throughout the design process. What is the most fulfilling aspect of your work at Sesshu? I love seeing my clients wowed at the end of the project with a beautiful home that feels really good to them. Often, they say things like, “It is even better than we imagined it would be! We couldn’t have done this on our own,” and that makes my day. I just want them to enjoy their home and hopefully the process of creating it.

GACEK DESIGN GROUP DESIGNING A CASTLE

S

et in the Canyon’s exclusive Colony neighborhood, The Castle offers guests a private enclave in Park City. Reminiscent of a Medieval European castle, the design is classically Gothic with its pointed arches, diamond leaded glass, and quatrefoil detail. Its presence is majestic on the mountain, a grand castle intended to impress and dominate the landscape. The gray granite stonework on the exterior façade immediately transforms you to present day, where a fortified architectural structure becomes an environment for world-class mountain living. Gacek Design Group, leading interior design and architectural consulting firm, partnered on the project to transform the vast space while keeping the Gothic architectural details highlighted. The design objective to modernize the 15,350 square foot interior to a livable, comfortable environment resulted in a clean-lined aesthetic with finely appointed finishes. Their design style, Refined Gothic, will be mindful of details and reinforce them throughout the design story. RESEARCH Gacek Design Group begins the design concept phase by evaluating historical research to focus on the foundation, the structure of the castle, and its significance in architectural history. Research tells a story of how the aesthetic of one’s residence became important, and the castle’s appearance and size reflected the prestige and power of those who lived there. A medieval castle was the fortified home of an important person, such as a king or a noble. Wealth and status in society continue to define the affluent demographic, their lifestyle, and how they will live in the home today. Understated elegance is what is envision for The Castle.

As aesthetics play a role in the medieval period, fashion consisted of long flowing elaborate gowns, hose with pleated, skirted jackets, knightly armor, furs and robes. Clothing was generally made of woolen fabrics and linen. We can interpret this style of dress to materials and textiles as well as geometric shapes in the design. It’s also interesting to note that an introduction to a divinely inspired, ecclesiastic style, was prevalent during the time of the Crusades. The red cross on a Crusader’s uniform is reminiscent of The Castle’s stained- glass window detail. We interpret this as relevant by creating a story of a family embarking on their own crusade to The Castle, an expedition to relax in a ski and snowboarding retreat to experience Utah’s famous powder. ARCHITECTURE Gothic architecture transformed churches, cathedrals and castles by creating opportunities for natural light and detailed interiors. As structures grew in height and grandeur, Gothic architectural features like the pointed arch, flying buttress and ribbed vaulted ceilings, not only supported the structure but also offered an element of opulence. The quatrefoil, an architectural element that is significant in history and popular today, is the ancient symbol for good luck. The shape of a quatrefoil from the Gothic period is displayed throughout the residence in textiles, art, and accessories. The Castle showcases many of the architectural details that transcend the medieval period. One significant architectural detail, the diamond shaped leaded glass windows, offer a strategically “closed off” view of the grove of aspen trees surrounding the property. This feature supports the notion of an exclusive, private retreat and reminds us of a cloister, evoking an emotion of serenity and calmness. From the interior, this seclusion influences you to be present in the space. Even though the expansive glass looks out to the beautiful mountain scenery, it is not as important that you see the view.

NATURE Beyond the architecture, the natural landscape and exclusivity of the location play an important role in the design. The goal was to highlight architectural references and draw from elements in nature to integrate the castle with its surroundings to embrace the area’s mountains, wildlife and overall natural beauty. Elements like alabaster rock, deer and elk, hides, deciduous white pine and aspen, as well as natural grasses are discovered in the natural setting. Wood elements transform interior spaces in the form of ceilings and wall paneling detail that is hand crafted from red grandis eucalyptus. COLOR PALETTE Coupled with these strong architectural details and influences from nature is a sophisticated color palette. Gacek Design Group created a color story of warmth with light taupe and soft gray tones. Accent colors were used to create an ombre effect that travels through each room. Heather purple and saturated blues are shown at the end points of the residence and get gradually lighter to the taupe and gray tones in the center spaces. The Castle brings a different dimension to a typical modern ski chalet with an alpine setting.

HERMÈS MAISON COLLECTIONS FOR THE HOME

ack and forth, the needle or comb combine the threads of a fabric; back and forth, the saw and the plane shape the chair and the table; back and forth, the hands form a vase from clay where water remains. Durable things are born of movement.

The Tremplin, H Vibration and Escalator rugs have been delicately embroidered by hand. The compositions designed by Gianpaolo Pagni and Studio Hermès are traced out by a slender cord, as if drawn with a pencil. Against a highly robust linen backdrop, this slender cotton cord marks out the lines adorning the Cordélie rugs. A very rare and meticulous embroidery technique.

The Hippodrome d’Hermès coffee table by French design duo Normal Studio combines a rectangular tabletop in oiled oak featuring aircraft wing edges and an oval lower shelf covered in smoothed and burnished bridle leather. Its table top gently hollowed, its edges contoured. A large, structured piece, made lighter by slender legs set back from the edges.

mong the pieces crafted in Italy designed by Alessandro Michele, porcelain trinket trays and boxes decorated with the House motifs, blankets with fringed borders and shell shaped armchairs inspired by 50s Hollywood. Embroidered velvet cushions are cut in the shape of animals, such as a cat’s head and an owl or bee, a handmade laundry basket is colorfully decorated in a black cat motif, and vases and umbrella stands are adorned with patterns and prints borrowed from Gucci’s ready-to-wear collections—including an original design by creative trio A Paris chez Antoinette Poisson. The armchair in pink moiré fabric has a high-backed design that’s reflective of

a seashell design. The fabric is specially woven to create a textured appearance that resembles waves, set on black metal legs. The main cushion is further enriched with a butterfly motif that is embroidered and then hand-applied. The Floral Four Paneled Screen features two iconic Gucci motifs on either side. One is enriched with a floral jacquard fabric inspired by the ready-to-wear collection, and the other features allover bees—a historical Gucci code taken from the ‘70s archives. Designed to serve as an accent piece or a room divider, the screen is equipped with hinges that allow its width to be adjusted by closing or opening each panel. Brass nail heads enhance the silhouette and scalloped top edges.

CASA BLANCHE A PALM SPRINGS DESERT DELIGHT

I

n the heart of Palm Desert, California, one of the most in demand suburbs of Palm Springs, located in the coveted Coachella valley, lies a beautifully completely redesigned and renovated ranch property, Casa Blanche. Featuring Cathedral ceilings, oversized wrought iron light fixtures, and a large, open floor plan, this desert oasis offers a light, airy and energetic feel filled with beautiful mid century modern design inspirations. Decor influences mix pop art with beach chic for the perfect eclectic vibe of Palm Springs to compliment the mid century modern inspired pieces. Bold lines can be seen throughout the home, marking the fireplace, tiling, raised entryway, bathroom remodels, custom backsplashes and kitchen island. Casa Blanche is the perfect offering of relaxation in the Coachella Valley, with views of their beautiful blue skies

by day, pink sunsets at night, surrounding mountains and Palm trees. The home’s backyard is the ultimate dreamy and serene setting, featuring a mediterranean inspired redesigned pool and spa, adorned overhead with strung Edison lights, a cactus and rock garden, antique mirror accents, fruit trees, and comfortable outdoor furniture. The 2,000 square foot home features three bedrooms and three baths, with a beautiful master suite, a large open floor plan, breakfast nook, entertainer’s dream kitchen, and game room. The rear outdoor seating areas are surrounded by beautiful landscaping featuring a variety of hand selected cacti, and draping bright pink bougainvillea. A custom peachy pink entry door compliments the Spanish tile roof for the ultimate inviting element of Palm Springs modernism.

The home remodel was completed by Coachella Valley Homebuyers, Cindy Squyers (www.CVHomeBuyer.com) ,their director of home redevelopment and design. They have been active in the community for 25 years and have remodeled and flipped hundreds of homes in the area. Casa Blanche being one of their most recent projects completed in early 2020. The complete interior decorating of Casa Blanche was done by Alexandra Lasky, whose company The Influence focuses on marketing, influencer relations, events and event design, along with home decor as a newly added focus. With Covid-19 affecting events, their skilled event design background easily transitions to home decor, a passion of Alexandra for many years. “I added bold yet inviting accent pieces such as bright yellow metal kitchen stools, a teal tea kettle to compliment the teal sofa, neon wall hangings, and custom bright pop

art for the walls of the main living space to create an inviting, cheerful feel for both entertaining guests and relaxing with a sense of joy and serenity. Everything from the gold pineapple accents to animal print throw rugs were chosen carefully to not overwhelm the space, but compliment the bold light fixtures and white walls. The bedrooms were decorated with a more serene goal in mind, yet still reflective of the Palm Springs feel. Handmade dream catchers, ladder shelves, furry throw rugs, bold but soft printed bedding, etc. It is important that each room feels inviting yet comfortable. The custom gray washed wooden pool table was carefully chosen to match the kitchen island, flooring and master bedroom furniture to tie the home together for a flow easy on the eyes. The matt gold accented furniture, trinkets and ambiance elements also maintain a steady design theme throughout the home.” @CasaBlanchePalmSprings
