H EA D L IN IN G A R T IS T: YaYa Diamond & The Dream Chasers Yahaloma “YaYa” is the daughter of the multi-platinum international recording artist Evelyn Thomas, niece of the first Black Metropolitan Opera singer Robert McFerrin, and cousin of Grammy award winner Bobby McFerrin. She has opened – as a solo act and member of The Crashers, a Southwest Florida Premier band – for various artists such as Mary Mary, appearing on TV programs BET and the Word Network multiple times, Aaron Nevil, The Former Ladies of The Supremes, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Here Comes the Mummies, Rare Earth and many more!

O P EN IN G A R T IS T: Decyo McDuffie Decyo McDuffie is an up-and-coming, professional, and award-winning jazz vocalist whose classic sound harkens back to traditional swing jazz styles from the 20s, 30s, and 40s. Decyo currently resides in Southwest Florida where he is very in-demand for performances and collaborations.

Critics have compared him to greats like Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, & have even called him “A male version of Billie Holiday.”

EM C EE: Omgitswicks Comedic sketch artist and social media influencer Josh Robinson, aka omgitswicks, is a Lee County resident who started in music and podcasting, now finds himself as family-friendly, Florida-focused, politics-free source of hilarity on social media. He credits his entry into the world of social media to his two children who introduced him to the video platform TikTok. His current 1.5 million followers on the platform must like what they see because he is now a full-time social media star. Check him out at @omgitswicks on most social media platforms.

What is the Black History Baggage Car? In the early settlement days of Collier County, the railroads were a significant employer and source of social mobility for Black men both locally and nationally, offering employment as inventors, firemen, brakemen, station ushers, engineers, and Pullman Porters.

The Naples Depot baggage car was built in the 1920s and carried mail, passenger suitcases, and trunks across southern train routes until the car was purchased from the Atlantic Coastline by Southern Railway and donated to Southwest Heritage, Inc. Thanks to Southwest Heritage, the Depot was preserved and used for a variety of fundraising purposes until Collier County transformed the former station into one of Collier County Museums’ free locations, highlighting Southwest Florida’s use of technology and transportation throughout time.

Now, over 100 years later, Collier County Museums, the NAACP, and Friends of the Collier County Museums are determined to breathe new life into the historical train car – transforming it as the first dedicated place to tell the stories of Black settlers and families in Collier County.
