Methodology

➢ The students of this educational stage must pass from concrete and simple problematic situations, at the beginning, related to the immediate environment, to a bit more complex situations, in the second cycle. ➢ Throughout the stage it is intended that students calculate fluently and make reasonable estimates, mainly when quantifying magnitudes and informing about real situations that children should get to interpret correctly. ➢ It is convenient that the students handle with ease the basic operations with the different types of numbers, both through pencil and paper algorithms and with the calculator. ➢ The numbers have to be used in different contexts: games, family and personal situations, public situations, operating with them repeatedly, knowing that the understanding of the processes developed and the meaning of the results is a prior and priority content regarding one's skill in the calculation and the operative automation.

Mathematic 1ST AND 2ND GRADES - LEARNING STANDARDS ➢Understands the meaning of ordinary problems in our daily life and its graphic and numerical representation. ➢Uses different strategies to manipulate and experiment with different materials related to the problem and represents it through pictures. ➢Follows the instructions in tasks and pays attention in the solution of problems. ➢ Reads and writes the value of natural numbers till three digits in classroom and personal situations such as heights, sizes, etc. ➢ Adds and subtracts numbers till three digits and multiplies by 1,2,3,4 and 5. ➢ Identifies situations in which he/she has to use addition, subtraction or multiplication. ➢ Interprets numerical texts to solve problems related to weight, capacity, time, etc. ➢ Identifies and differentiates plain figures; square, rectangle, triangle. ➢Identifies different kind of coins. ➢Knows some kind of graphs (such as bar graphs)to represent results.

Mathematic 3rd AND 4th GRADES - LEARNING STANDARDS ➢Interprets and represent the value of the natural numbers and fractions in diagrams or graphs. ➢Operates with the natural numbers using mental strategies or estimations and some procedures such as algorithms to evaluate the results and get some conclusions in shopping situations. ➢ Identifies and select measuring instruments ( ruler, metre, clock, etc.) to measure different objects, time, spaces, etc. ➢ Solves ordinary problems using different strategies to represent their meaning through pictures or graphs and using the corresponding algorithm. ➢ Follows the instructions in tasks and pays attention in its fulfillment. ➢ Reproduces and classifies plain figures ( square, rectangle, circle, etc.) using their properties and the right resources ( ruler, compass, etc)
