From Waffle Irons to a Global Strength Leader
For 30, years Eleiko manufactured small electrical appliances. Then, in 1957, an inspired idea reshaped our future.
Eleiko’s factory supervisor Mr Hällström, an avid weightlifter, set our to find a solution to barbells that routinely bent and broke. He approached Mrs Johansson, the managing director, with his idea and received permission to pursue the project. Partnering with a Swedish steel company, Eleiko developed a proprietary hardened steel — refined over time and still in use today. A nod to our origin, the barbell was crafted with a signature waffle-patterned knurling. To complement this muchimproved barbell, Eleiko produced a collection of metal weightlifting plates setting a new course for the company’s future.

We distilled six decades of experience into a single, modular strength system — customisable, scalable, and built for lasting performance and safety. Prestera, meaning “performance” in Swedish, blends a sleek, user-centric aesthetic with precision engineering.
Through rigorous analysis and testing, we refined our rack and rig design — eliminating excess bulk while maintaining strength, safety, and durability, all with fewer materials. The result is a space efficient system optimised for the ultimate lifting experience.

Eleiko magnesia container’s tapered cylindrical shape gives the piece a modern clean aesthetic and allow for ample access. Resin is placed in the base of the container giving athletes easy access to the resin before they take on the platform.

Eleiko’s journey started in 1957 with a dream of a better barbell. At the 1963 World Championships in Stockholm, we introduced the first bar to endure an entire competition without bending or breaking — setting a new standard in strength equipment.
The Eleiko WPPO Powerlifting Competition Bar continues that legacy. Built in Halmstad, Sweden, from proprietary Eleiko Steel™, each bar is precision-engineered for the demands of world-class powerlifting — honed through decades of innovation, testing, and competition use.
Combining Swedish-made quality with responsible production, the bar is made from 97% recycled steel and has an 80% lower CO₂ footprint than the global steel average.
A 28 mm Eleiko Steel™ shaft delivers bench press stability under max loads. A 105 mm knurl-free zone protects racking surfaces, while 1.5 Power knurling — a pronounced volcano pattern — ensures a confident, secure grip. The DN3 Chrome™ finish preserves knurling sharpness and barbell integrity through years of intense use.
Eleiko’s dual lock system, dustproof seal, and recessed stainless steel end caps protect internal components and maintain optimal rotation with minimal maintenance.
Gold-coloured accents mark this as WPPO-certified equipment. A laser-etched ID ring on the flange clearly displays weight and model, simplifying bar selection in high-paced training and competition settings.
Precision Crafted Equipment
A new standard in plate performance
The Eleiko WPPO Competition Plates set a higher standard for performance and durability utilizing our proprietary SBR rubber, a new patented design which distributes impact force, and precision engineered zinced steel hubs.
The plates are made in Sweden with a redesigned thinner profile supporting heavier record setting lifts. The edge of the plate is more rounded and extends further and the grooved rim supports a firm grip for better handling.
The new plates have a smooth surface more easily tailored with custom designs for competitions and training facilities. The print is also more durable for longer lasting graphics as well. They can be tailored with custom prints on the rubber or decals on the hubs.

Precision Engineered Plates range from 10kg – 25kg and are approved by the WPPO and certified for competition. We calibrate them beyond the WPPO standard and now hold an exacting tolerance of +/- 0.05%. The plates measure 450mm in diameter with a 50.5mm (+/- 0.5%.) center hole for a precise and secure fit on the bar sleeve.

Eleiko’s new Competition Collar is the first to be certified by all three strength sports federations—IWF, IPF, and WPPO. The design features a proprietary TPE ring which compresses and rotates to secure the connection between the bar flange, plates, and collars, reducing wear on plate hubs and dampening noise. Eleiko’s distinctive 1.2 knurling on the lever and tightening wheel, along with the sandblasted grip contours, improve the loading experience. The compact design and indexed locking lever make for a more secure fit and smoother sleeve rotation.

The slim profile, knurled tightening ring, and indexed locking lever concentrate weight towards the centre of mass for less interference with the sleeve rotation and smoother lifts.
The intuitive ergonomic design with the sandblasted grip contours knurled tightening wheel, and locking lever improves loading experiences, while the moderate 1.2 knurling offers a secure and comfortable grip during competitions.
Added Load Capacity
The 60 mm Competition Collars are slightly wider than previous collars but together with the redesigned slimmer plates, it allows for more weight on the bar to support record-setting lifts.
Long-lasting performance with a 10-year warranty Material and finishing choices ensure lasting performance, while the redesigned locking lever system distributes the clamping force more evenly across the bar sleeve, reducing the potential for wear.

Eleiko’s patented sensor system delivers precise, distraction-free performance tracking — seamlessly built into the bar sleeve. The design preserves the bar’s balance, rotation, and signature Eleiko feel, allowing athletes to lift without interference while coaches capture essential data to inform training.
Seamless Sensor Integration
The patented sensor-ready sleeve accommodates an Eleiko Enode Sensor inside each sleeve. Dual data points capture accurate bar speed, force output and movement efficiency metrics, without disrupting lifting mechanics. The system maintains weight calibration and handling, ensuring consistent performance.
This integrated approach enables coaches and sport scientists to analyse real-time metrics, develop athlete-specific training plans, and support injury prevention strategies.

Product such as the sensor compatible WPPO Powerlifting Competition Bars — the first to integrate tracking into the barbell sleeve — give athletes and coaches access to real-time data and valuable lifting insights. The equipment is engineered to full WPPO Powerlifting standard and calibrated to within millimetres and milligrams. The bar grip and diameter are specifically designed for the Para Powerlifting athletes, along with our special 50 kg disc. The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games celebrated athletic excellence, inclusivity, and the strength of the human spirit. Among the standout events was Para Powerlifting, held September 4–8 at the new Porte de la Chapelle Arena in northern Paris.
With 180 athletes from over 100 nations, the competition brought together the world’s strongest para athletes to lift for medals and national pride. In a bench press-only format, lifters battled across multiple weight classes — setting records and redefining limits on one of the sport’s biggest stages. Eleiko was proud to power the event as the official equipment supplier for Para Powerlifting at Paris 2024.
