From Waffle Irons to a Global Strength Leader
For 30, years Eleiko manufactured small electrical appliances. Then, in 1957, an inspired idea reshaped our future.
Eleiko’s factory supervisor Mr Hällström, an avid weightlifter, set our to find a solution to barbells that routinely bent and broke. He approached Mrs Johansson, the managing director, with his idea and received permission to pursue the project. Partnering with a Swedish steel company, Eleiko developed a proprietary hardened steel — refined over time and still in use today. A nod to our origin, the barbell was crafted with a signature waffle-patterned knurling. To complement this muchimproved barbell, Eleiko produced a collection of metal weightlifting plates setting a new course for the company’s future.

Built on a heritage dating back to the Middle Ages, Swedish Steel is recognised for its exceptional quality. Eleiko Steel’s proprietary formulation and treatment process gives it the perfect balance between strength and flexibility. Eleiko’s clean Swedish steel also emphasises sustainability. Forged with 97% recycled materials, it has an 80% lower CO2 footprint than the global average.
The bar’s straightness is laser-controlled and adjusted as needed after surface treatment. Only bars with a maximum radial deviation of 0.1 mm are approved; the rest are recycled.

The patent-pending design features a proprietary TPE ring which compresses and rotates to secure the connection between the bar flange, plates, and collars, reducing wear on plate hubs and dampening noise. Since 2020, highly specialised infrastructure for athletic training and athlete health management, state–of–the–art sports performance areas and interdisciplinary research will be united under one roof. Two goals remain constant: The maximisation of training adaptions and the increase in athletic competition performance. This world class facility combines athletic training and science in a cutting–edge infrastructure. The project encompassed consultation on training floor plans and world class equipment from Eleiko.
Nottingham Forest F.C. UK
The new Nottingham Forest FC training facility was designed with several key objectives in mind. The primary goal was to create a spacious and efficient training environment capable of accommodating the entire team during sessions. The facility required ample floor and rack space alongside versatile equipment to support a variety of training needs. Additionally, the club prioritized designated areas for performance testing while encouraging a stimulating atmosphere essential for peak performance.
Bespoke elements of the facility, such as the custom-branded Prestera rack layout, eccentric pulley frame, and accessories storage, have been pivotal in tailoring the space to meet the club’s requirements. Notably, the storage solutions integrated between the racks have enhanced the organization of the facility, improving session flow, reducing downtime between exercises, and increasing overall efficiency.
The custom pulley frame provides a dedicated area for specialized exercises to be executed, offering flexibility for a wide range of movements essential to strength and conditioning. These bespoke features have optimized the use of space while ensuring the facility aligns with the club’s high-performance objectives.

The University of Nottingham, UK
The University of Nottingham is one of the leading universities in the UK. Awarded University of the Year in 2022, it offers some of the best Sports Science courses in the UK and boasts 37 on-site sporting facilities. Which is why we are proud to have been chosen as the strength equipment partner for the High Performance Zone refurbishment, set in the £40 million David Ross Sports Village.
The High Performance Zone offers a state-of-the-art training facility for performance athletes, including a 60m sprint track and the latest fitness technology. As well as delivering programs for scholarship student athletes and performance squads, Nottingham’s experienced strength and conditioning team work closely with professional clubs such as British Weightlifting and athletes wishing to use the facility. Nottingham’s High Performance Zone is now home to 25 Custom Stainless Steel Prestera Power Racks and Half Racks, complete with integrated Cable Systems and Smith Attachments, Customised Evo Dumbbells, Sport Training Plates and a host of other Eleiko strength training tools.

Greenville University, USA
Greenville University set out to create one of the nation’s premier weight rooms, designed to serve students, staff, and faculty. With the university’s expanding student-athlete population and campus growth, they required a facility capable of supporting diverse strength training needs while inspiring performance across the entire university.
The challenge was to transform a bare space into a state-ofthe-art sports performance center that would support collegiate athletics and a wide range of strength-focused programs. The project demanded durability, safety, long-term reliability, and completion within a year. Eleiko partnered with the university to deliver a comprehensive, customized strength solution, including equipment, flooring, and storage.
Custom-branded Prestera racks were designed to create versatile, multi-purpose training stations, maximizing space and supporting sport-specific programs. The layout prioritized functionality, offering distinct zones for cardio, free weights, cables, and turf training while providing clear sightlines for coach-led sessions. Importantly, Eleiko ensured that safety was a key design consideration, recognizing that the facility would be used by both experienced athletes and individuals just beginning their strength training journey.
To optimize the space, Eleiko designed custom storage units around structural columns, transforming otherwise unused areas into practical storage solutions.

Rugby School, UK
Once an old shooting range now high-performance gym, the Rugby School space was transformed to meet the growing demands of the school’s athletic development provision.
With the Strength and Conditioning program within the school catering for pupils as young as 13, right through to junior internationals at 18, the school needed to create an inspiring training space that could facilitate the varying demands of all students and encourage progression throughout the school.
The refurbished performance gym opens the space to more students, allowing greater contact time and a unique training environment that can be enjoyed by all. Students now have the option to train independently or as part of a squad using the Prestera Power Racks with an array of lifting attachments, and coaches have greater access to the tools they need to progress students training.
Functionality as well as aesthetics were key to the brief and the customised Prestera Power racks helped to meet both criteria. Custom-branded Prestera racks and a variety of Eleiko strength tools such as speciality barbells, sport training plates, plate dumbbells, a dual adjustable pulley machine and more, unlock a host of new training possibilities for both students and coaches – as well as a safe environment in which to perform the Olympic weightlifting movements.
Custom rack colours, branded sport training plates, turf track and plyo boxes were also implemented, harnessing the school’s identity throughout for a unique lifting experience.
Rugby School has a rich history in sport, producing the game that millions love worldwide. Keeping at the forefront of UK Independent schools with its strong academic and co curricular offering, the new performance gym enriches Rugby School’s already impressive indoor and outdoor facilities.

Impact Sports wanted to create a multifunctional area that could accommodate as many workout spots as possible with all the necessary functionalities.
Impact Sports installed one of the largest Prestera Rigs in Europe with integrated storage to optimize space. Additionally, they utilized Prestera Double Half Racks with integrated cable stations. By combining these solutions, they could maximize the space and create as many workout spots as possible with all the necessary functionalities.

Well-Come Fitness aimed to become one of the world’s most exclusive membership gyms by maintaining the highest standards in training and member experience.
Eleiko provided a full-strength solution, going beyond premium equipment to redesign Well-Come’s training environment. Prestera Cable stations expanded the gym’s offerings, while three Eleiko Half Racks with SVR platforms created a noise-reduced, versatile training hub. The CrossFit room underwent a major redesign, replacing a floor-mounted rig with three wall-mounted rigs, increasing floor space and improving coach oversight. These upgrades empowered trainers with greater flexibility and introduced members to advanced training opportunities—all in a premium setting designed to optimize functionality and reduce disruption.

U.be Health, Netherlands
U.be Health has launched a second gym in Amsterdam to expand their reach and offer a premium fitness experience. The goal was to create a state-of-the-art facility aligned with their vision of helping every member achieve fitness goals through personalised guidance and transparent, honest practices. Designing a highly functional and aesthetically pleasing gym within a compact 130 square meter space posed unique challenges for the project.
The objective was to develop a gym layout that supports highquality personal training while also accommodating small group sessions, without sacrificing the quality of the experience. This required meticulous planning to ensure a seamless flow between different training zones and efficient use of limited space. The solution involved strategically placing versatile equipment to cater to a variety of training styles and fitness levels.
Creating an environment that feels open, inviting, and motivating despite the compact size was another challenge. The goal was to avoid the overcrowded and impersonal atmosphere typical of traditional gym settings. This was achieved by designing an intuitive layout that fosters community interaction and personal growth, supported by high-quality, versatile equipment.
Eleiko delivered a comprehensive service, from the initial concept through to the final design and fit-out. This included developing a 3D design to optimise space efficiency and enhance the member experience.
The gym was outfitted with Eleiko Prestera — a modular and versatile strength system designed to maximise functionality and efficiency in training environments like U.be. Notable highlights include the Prestera Racks, complete with cables and a variety of training tools to support diverse workout needs, from individual training to group sessions.
NK Padel and Social by Ascaro, Sweden
NK Padel & Social by ASCARO is Sweden’s most spectacular paddle and training facility, located on the rooftop of Nordiska Kompaniet above Regeringsgatan in Stockholm. The premium facility consists of four paddle courts, a 300 meter long running track, an Eleiko-equipped outdoor gym and lounge area.
The 3000 sqm rooftop area will also offer events with a focus on health and well-being, creating a new social hotspot for visitors and members to play, train and socialize — all with a stunning view over central Stockholm.
Eleiko has outfitted the complete outdoor gym area, featuring galvanized rigs and racks, as well as free weights such as kettlebells, barbells, plates, and dumbbells and some cardio units. The training area allows for both strength training and spacious areas for hosting classes or personal training sessions. The galvanized finish provides protection against the elements, allowing the rigs and racks to stay outdoors year-round.

CrossFit Munich West, Germany
The new CrossFit Munich West location sets a high standard for functional yet aesthetic CrossFit facilities. Since its opening at the end of 2023, it has reaped praise from members, visiting athletes and coaches for its impressive design and functionality.
Spanning approximately 400 square meters of dedicated training space, the facility offers ample room for members to pursue their fitness goals. The inclusion of two Prestera freestanding rigs allows for simultaneous classes, while a Prestera wall rig and weightlifting platforms in the open gym area further enhance the training experience for an array of strength training movements.

Les Deux, Denmark
The modern workplace.
When the fashion company Les Deux moved into a new office space in Copenhagen in the autumn of 2021, they wanted to create something more than just an office. The modern workplace keeps employee well-being in focus. Scandinavian interior design and select premium brands reflect the company’s identity.
The heart of the office space, and the first thing visitors are greeted by, is a basketball court. It is adjacent to a wine bar and surrounded by conference rooms, office spaces, a showroom, lunch room, a wall of fame and “The Fitness Room” from Eleiko.
Les Deux wanted a room specifically for training in smaller groups while needing flexible equipment that was easy to move for larger group training. The result was a 40 sqm space-efficient gym where employees can train according to their own ability.
Rémy Martin, France
Rémy Martin is a well-known French company that specializes in Cognac production. The company aimed to provide its employees with a training area to promote their well-being. To accomplish this goal, Rémy Martin worked with Eleiko to build a complete solution based on functional training movements that could support their employees achieve better performance in their work and in their life — and evolve and grow with the company’s needs.
The main objective was to create a functional training area for Rémy Martin’s employees. The area is designed to help employees develop their physical and mental health through strength, weightlifting, gymnastics, and other functional movements. To that end, Eleiko proposed a customized rig that could be adapted to a variety of training styles, such as cross-fit classes, strength workouts, boxing classes and cardio classes. We also provided our full range of free weight strength equipment such as kettlebells and dumbbells.
The Rémy Martin facility is unique for a corporate wellness solution because it was based on a functional training area instead of a traditional corporate gym. Unlike traditional gyms, 95% of the equipment in their facility was functional equipment and 5% was standard machines. We helped Remy Martin create a space aligned with how people like to train today and shared compelling information about how functional training can help improve efficiency at work.

Jacy'z Sports Club, Sweden
Jacy’z Hotel is a modern resort of adventures in a 100-meter -high skyscraper in the city centre of Gothenburg. They call them selves “The Resort that never sleeps” and behind the audacious glass facade you will find 27 floors of experiences, such as a wellspring of restaurants, bars, premium pool club and activities.
On the third floor, they have a Sports Club in an open space with large panoramic windows. It is a multi-functional training area offering personal training, group training and supporting their hotel guests and club members with all the strength essentials for a complete session. Eleiko equipped Jacy’z with a wide range of products such as a free-standing rig with plenty of storage for barbells, kettlebells and dumbbells accompanied by benches and a set up of cardio machines.

Fort Liberty, US Army
Home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces. Fort Bragg is a military base of the United States Army. It is the largest military installation globally (by population), with more than 50,000 active-duty personnel, home to the XVIII Airborne Corps and the United States Army Special Operations Command. The physical demands put on the soldiers based at Fort Bragg are great.
Eleiko is proud to have been chosen for several projects, including becoming the bar and plate provider of choice for several of the High-Performance Training centres around the base and transforming a 10,000 sq ft space into a state of the art training for the 82nd Airborne.
To create the 10,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art training facility for the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg’s Ritz Epps Physical Fitness Center, Eleiko installed over 27 tons of equipment. It can now comfortably allow over 140 Soldiers to utilize the facility and work within built-in stations.
At Ritz Epps PFC, Fort Bragg, NC, Eleiko installed 14 free standing platforms, 14 doublesided half racks, and their Evo rotating dumbbells. 28 or more barbells and kettlebells were also part of the project. Eleiko stayed until the job was complete and assisted in the clean-up. Very great team to work with. Also easy to get a hold of if you have any questions about the equipment. The Blomberg family was part of the Eleiko story long before acquiring the company. A close friend of the original owners, Mr. and Mrs. Johansson, Lennart Blomberg was a seasoned entrepreneur when Eleiko became available for purchase in 1997.

“Lifting makes me complete”
Gunnila Blomberg, owner of Eleiko, share her story of how at 67 years old, she’s the strongest she’s ever been — and how lifting has become an essential part of living life to the fullest.
Even though I’ve been surrounded by weights and bars for many years at Eleiko, I only started lifting about 6 years ago. I’ve been active my whole life, but never strength training. I also had some problems with back pain. One day, I came to a point in my life where everything changed. My husband passed away and left me and my children responsible for Eleiko. This was a very challenging time in my life.
At that time, my son Erik, CEO at Eleiko, came to me with a gift — a package of personal training sessions with Micke, a personal trainer here in Halmstad. He taught me how to lift and showed me what lifting is really about. The back problem I had suffered from almost all my life just disappeared. For the past 6 years, I’ve trained with Micke almost every week – and I feel healthier than ever.

My strength allows me to do what I want in my life, like mountain bike in the woods or by the ocean or play paddle tennis with my girlfriends. This year, I was also able to complete Vasaloppet. I never thought I could achieve that a few years ago. My whole life is impacted by being strong. It makes my everyday life so much easier. I can carry my groceries up three flights of stairs by myself and have the strength and energy to play with and lift my grandchildren. That has always been my main goal with my training — to be able to keep living life to the fullest, every day.
