Rate change effective April 1

Jackson County REMC is a not-forprofit cooperative, and we strive every day to manage costs while continuing to provide the reliability and value you deserve.

In 2022, Jackson County REMC underwent an extensive cost-of-service study. Due to the results of that study, effective April 1, members of Jackson County REMC will see a rate change.

The rate change is primarily due to inflation and increasing costs to deliver the reliable electricity you expect. This rate change has nothing to do with our fiber project, the finances for which have been kept completely separate from the electric side of our operations.

Jackson County REMC has minimized costs where possible to be responsible stewards of your cooperative. Regrettably, these efforts have limitations when weighing current inflation against the reliability you deserve.

Starting with Jackson County REMC electric bills mailed May 8, the residential monthly basic service charge will increase to $40. The basic service charge is a fixed amount on your monthly bill required to deliver electricity and maintain the system that serves you. Each member pays the same service charge per rate class. The service charge is separate from the energy charge, which is the cost of how much energy you use.

The basic service charge helps Jackson County REMC:

• Provide necessary equipment and labor to deliver electricity to your home, including poles, wires and transformers, and more

• Invest in new equipment and systems to keep up with the growing demand for reliable electricity

• Provide the local staff who serves you

An example of the rate change for our basic residential service is listed below.

If you would like to see all the other rate changes, please visit JacksonREMC.com to see the rate changes for each rate class. If you’re not sure of your account’s rate class, it is listed on your bill.

We value your membership and strive to exceed our member’s expectations. As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to our office during normal business hours.
