We’re excited to introduce our 5 year undergraduate degree in medicine leading to the award of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
Our Medicine MBBS is open to students from outside the UK. Opportunities for home students will depend on Health Education England opening new training places for which Brunel Medical School will apply.

Study Medicine at Brunel
The Brunel Medicine MBBS course will enable you to graduate with the medical knowledge and professional skills you will need as a new doctor, ready for further training in the UK or overseas. You will be awarded a UK Primary Medical Qualification called Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)* and will be eligible to undertake your Foundation training. Brunel Medical School will be awarding a number of MBBS international scholarships on the basis of academic merit.
*As a new medical school, our MBBS award is subject to successful progress through the General Medical Council’s rigorous quality assurance programme.
Careers and your future
The world of medicine is certainly challenging. Our goal at Brunel is to prepare you for your Foundation training wherever you choose to continue your clinical journey. Specialist advice and guidance regarding your career in medicine will be provided as well as support when applying for your Foundation training. Supervised clinical placements will include general practices, community services and teaching hospitals in the neighbouring NHS Trusts, to give you a broad understanding of clinical specialties, health system delivery and community care. Entry criteria
A-level AAB IB 33 points IELTS 7 (min 7.0 in all areas)
International Secondary School Qualifications:
Grades equivalent to AAB at A-level Graduates with a degree cognate to medicine with at least a 2.1 honours or equivalent will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Priority will be given to applicants who have taken the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT). For detailed entry criteria visit our web page
Studying Medicine at Brunel will prepare you for the future of medical practice, being team-based, highly technologydriven and patient-focused. Team-based learning (TBL) will be the main teaching approach in the early years, both in-person and on-line. Our modern purpose-designed teaching facilities, vibrant international campus based in west London and focus on communication skills, team-work and leadership training will prepare you for clinical placements and patient contact. The curriculum includes a focus on ‘Technologies’ for Health to prepare you for emerging and innovative approaches for patient care, including telemedicine, genomics and bio-informatics to determine the genetic and environmental contributions of disease. The vision of the school is to transform healthcare through research that is translational and interdisciplinary, involving basic and clinician scientists, engineers, designers and computer scientists and research-informed approaches to health professions education, training and practice.
Course content

You will learn the following:
Scientific basis of medicine
Cellular and genetic basis of health and disease • Molecular biology, anatomy, physiology, pathology and pharmacology as applied to systems of the body such as blood, circulation, respiration, excretion, hormones, digestion, muscles, bones and joints, the nervous system and reproduction.
Social and professional basis of medicine
Medical humanities, lifestyle medicine • Professionalism, ethics, law, leadership and patient safety • Clinical and communication skills
Clinical practice
Clinical placements start in term 1 of year 1, with increased frequency from year 3 onwards.
