Part of Elder’s rich tradition and legacy is the unwavering loyalty of our alumni and friends. This loyalty is evident every time we see a sea of purple in the community or read the names listed in our Honor Roll. Your commitment is truly the heart of what makes Elder so special.
It’s easy to give when you can directly see the results of your contribution. While some of our campaigns and scholarships are directed toward facilities and endowments, many of your gifts directly impact our students through financial aid and merit scholarships. Though the results may not always be immediately visible, the impact of your generosity is seen in the well-rounded and well-prepared young men who graduate from Elder every year. These students go on to pursue careers in every field and enroll in colleges and universities across the country, carrying the values and education they received at Elder with them.
You can’t put a price on that kind of success, but it’s clear that everyone who wears the purple and the white does so with immense pride in all that Elder represents—past, present, and future. Your support ensures that this tradition of excellence continues, allowing each new generation of Panthers to thrive.
Thank you for all you do to make Elder the best high school. Your generosity and dedication help build a brighter future for our students and keep the Elder spirit alive in everything we do.
Kurt Ruffing ’81 Principal
New Gerflor flooring was installed in the 1922 and 1959 wings and 75 interactive wall monitors were installed in each classroom. The tennis courts were resurfaced and painted and the bathrooms in the horseshoe of the Pit were also painted.
Thanks to donors like you, I’m able to reach my goals and achieve my dreams.
LINCOLN ZUREICK ’24
University of Cincinnati, DAAP majoring in architecture
Elder High School has profoundly impacted my life and set me up for future success. Thank you all for your contributions and support, which have allowed students like me to attend this incredible school.
I first felt the Elder brotherhood after breaking my leg during freshman year cross country and being in a wheelchair for several weeks. While recovering, upperclassmen sent supportive texts and joined me for lunch in the classroom, helping me feel cared for as a struggling freshman. This was the first time I realized that Elder is more than just a school—it’s a brotherhood.
By junior year, I began taking leadership positions in clubs and engaging in more service at Elder and in the community. This was also when I decided on a career path. Elder's art program provided the resources I needed to pursue my creative ambitions, preparing me for a future in the arts.
Miami University, Farmer School of Business majoring in finance & entrepreneurship
I am grateful to have received merit-based scholarships to attend Elder High School. These scholarships motivated me to excel, as shown by my 4.0 GPA and membership in the Honors Program Plus. Elder’s rigorous academics and opportunities have prepared me well for college and beyond.
Outside of school, I own a business, Charcuterie Boards By Connor, which has taught me valuable skills in communication, advertising, and accounting. I’ve applied lessons from Elder’s business classes to my venture.
Additionally, I participated in a philanthropic leadership program through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where I was named the 2024 Student Visionary of the Year. My team and I raised $137,000 for blood cancer patients, research, and advocacy, an experience that taught me the importance of dedication and service.
Thomas More College
majoring in accounting & music management
On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff of Elder High School, thank you for your generosity.
During my time at Elder, I've been involved in the student council, ambassador’s society, pro-life club, varsity tennis team, freshman cross country team, Glee Club, vocal ensemble, and the Seton-Elder musicals. I’ve achieved many musical accomplishments, including top scores at vocal competitions, performing at the Cincinnati Art’s Overtures Awards at the Aronoff Center, and being cast as the lead in the past two Seton-Elder musicals.
However, the most important part of my time at Elder has been the education I received. Elder has helped me discover my passions for theater, tennis, and finance, which I am excited to pursue in college. This year, I will be attending Thomas More University to play tennis, sing in the men’s choir, participate in campus ministry, and study accounting and music management.
Elder High School is pleased to announce Greg Weber ’93 as the new Annual Fund Director. Greg is no stranger to the Elder community, having served on Elder’s Alumni Board for several years, most recently as the president.
“Greg is not only an accomplished professional but also an Elder grad whose deep-rooted passion for our school and commitment to its values will continue to drive our Annual Fund forward,” said Kurt Ruffing, principal. “His unique understanding of our traditions and vision for the future makes him the perfect person to lead us in fostering growth and success.”
Greg is married to Nicci, and they have two children, Tommy, a proud member of the Class of 2023, and Megan. The Weber family’s connection to Elder is strong, and Greg is excited to bring his energy and vision to the Annual Fund Director role. The Annual Fund is Elder's largest fundraiser and has always been the cornerstone of our fundraising efforts because of its direct impact on our students.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Trina Niemer as she passes the torch of the Annual Fund to Greg. Since taking on the role of Annual Fund Director in 2008, Trina has impressively grown the fund from just over $600K to more than $1.2MM. Although she is stepping down from this position, she will continue to make invaluable contributions as our Marketing Director, editor of The Pride quarterly magazine, and coordinator of the Elder Golf Classic. Additionally, she has taken on a new role as the instructor of the Introduction to Marketing class for juniors and seniors. Thank you for your incredible dedication, Trina!
Thanks for your continued support of the Annual Fund, we raised close to $1.25 million for our Elder students! Thank you to all those who participated in this year’s campaign.

Thank you to all who have taken advantage of the CATHOLIC
CREDIT and supported Elder through your generous gift(s). This wonderful Ohio tax benefit program for the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati has been almost too good to be true. It’s a win-win type of situation and if you haven’t taken advantage of it yet, you should most definitely consider doing so for your 2024 taxes.
The graph shows how members of the Elder family have stepped up and made a difference. Here in 2024, total giving to the CEF-SGO and directed to Elder High School is heads and shoulders above the rest of the schools within the Archdiocese. Then in total giving to the CEF-SGO since the first opportunity to donate in 2022, again Elder constituents have put our school at the top of the list. Elder students have benefited and will continue to benefit thanks to your generosity in supporting the CEF-SGO.
