“Navegando lo desconocido, creando nuestro destino. Con cada una de nuestras semillas plantadas, crearemos un bosque de sabiduría.”
On it’s 52nd year of existence, El Centro celebrates the legacy of the first students who began this tradition in order to honor their cultural background, persistence, pride, and dedication.
¡Felicidades! On behalf of El Centro, we acknowledge your hard work, love, sacrifice, and dedication. You all have overcome so much these last few years. At the same time, you all have had the courage to stand up for what you believe in and each one of you has left a legacy on this campus and in our community. You have demonstrated the power of community, perseverance, and the pursuit of knowledge. Your accomplishments are a testament to your dedication and the support you have received from your loved ones. Your degrees are a collective cosecha, a triunfo de tu mama, tu papa, de tus hermanos y hermanas, tus abuelos, your ancestors who are with you in spirit, and all those who have nurtured you. Graduating is a reminder that you are growing and learning, you are resilient, and you are sacred. Continue to carry with you that ética de trabajo, ese espíritu de lucha que tuvieron nuestros padres. La lucha todavía sigue.
Let us remember that success is not solely measured by personal achievements or material wealth. True success lies in how we uplift others, how we make a positive difference in the lives of those around us. Let us strive to be compassionate, empathetic leaders who inspire and empower others. Together, we can create a future filled with compassion, equity, and justice.
For those who have dedicated their time as student program coordinators, interns, and volunteers, muchas gracias de todo corazón. We will miss you dearly pero es tiempo de volar!

“Navegando lo desconocido, creando nuestro destino. Con cada una de nuestras semillas plantadas, crearemos un bosque de sabiduría.”
A huge thank you to the El Centro Student Program Coordinators Saúl Ordaz, Arely Verduzco, and Kelly Camacho who committed their time to make this ceremony memorable. UCSC thanks them for their dedication and passion for planning this ceremony. Additionally, we want to recognize El Centro Director Xiomara López and El Centro Program Coordinator Jailene Tzintzun who guided and supported these leaders along the way.
This year El Centro raised $3,400 during UCSC’s Fall Giving Day. The funds were used to purchase stoles for this year’s graduates. Please consider donating next year!
Gracias a los que donaron dinero para los graduados.
