DISCOUNTS

Discounts are available on tickets with a regular price of $16 or more. El Camino College faculty, staff, students (with current ASO sticker) and Alumni Association members receive a 25 percent discount on the full price of up to (2) two tickets purchased at the Ticket Office for most events. In some instances, multiple ticket prices are listed for events that include Student & Senior Discounts. These discounts may not be available to all patrons. For more information about discounted tickets, please contact the Ticket Office.

• Seniors (age 62 and over): Receive a 10 percent discount on one full-price ticket prior to the day of the performance for most events.

• Student & Senior Rush Tickets: $15 rush tickets are available the day of show only for select events.

• Children (age 12 and under): Special prices for select events.

• Military (with ID): Service members, retired military and veterans receive a 25 percent discount on the full price of up to (2) two tickets for most events.

• Group Rates: Groups of 10 or more receive discounts for most events.

CHILDREN

The Center for the Arts encourages families to enjoy performances together; however, in consideration of other ticket holders, unless specified, most performances are not suitable for infants and toddlers. Select performances have special prices for

children. Contact the Ticket Office for specific availability and details. Children under 5 years old will not be admitted to any ECC Theatre Department play or musical. Please note: All persons, regardless of age, must have a ticket. If you have any questions regarding this policy or the age appropriateness of a performance for your child, please contact the Ticket Office

Events will start promptly. Latecomers will be seated during a suitable pause in the performance. The use of cameras and/ or recording devices, including picture and video phones, is strictly prohibited during any Center for the Arts performances, unless otherwise stated.

FOR OUR PATRONS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Wheelchair accessible seating is available in designated areas. Our venue is equipped with a sound amplification system and is available for the hearing impaired. Sign language interpreters can be arranged for most events, but requires a 2 week advanced notice. Contact the Ticket Office for more information.

Parking is FREE for most events, unless otherwise posted. If required, a parking permit can be purchased on the day of the performance or when you order your ticket(s) online or by phone. Welcome to the 55th Anniversary Season of the Center for the Arts at El Camino College. It is my pleasure to invite you to our campus to enjoy our upcoming 2023-24 Season, which is packed with exciting and innovative programming. We strive to engage, educate, and elevate the human spirit. Our upcoming season is designed to fulfill these goals.

In addition to working with many outstanding touring artists and ensembles, the Center continues to develop community partnerships with local artists and performing arts organizations. We are delighted to feature upcoming performances from Anointed Feet Dance Company, Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (ICYOLA), Ballet California, and a world-premiere dance work from Rebecca Lemme and her LA-based dance company, Acts of Matter.

This season, we are relaunching the “Friends of the Center for the Arts” fund raising campaign. This campaign supports crucial opportunities for academic and personal development for our performing arts students. Far too many times we view rejection as failure; when in fact it is pushing us to become the greatest version of ourselves. We still have to be the best students of our chosen craft. We have to be willing to cheer for ourselves when often times, we may be the only one cheering and the only voice we hear.

Choni won bronze at Van

International Piano Competition June 2022, the second Ukranian pianist to medel at the prestigious contest. He won hearts and accolades with a compelling and colorful musicality that is fortified by a genuine, engaging stage presence. Program will include pieces by Beethoven, Debussy, Prokofiev, Silvestrov and Liebermann.

AN EVENING OF CHAMBER MUSIC

Dance Works by John Pennington and Pennington Dance Group and Solo Dance Works by Liz Hoefner Adamis with live music by award-winning cellists Brent Samuel (Los Angeles Philharmonic) and Margaret Edmondson. This performance will include three world premiere works. This program is sure to educate and entertain audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Brazilian-American pianist and ECC Faculty Rafael Liebich will present an evening of chamber music, with friends Alex Russell (violin), Hana Kim (violin), Sarah Vendsel Dudas (viola), and Joo Lee (cello). This program includes Rachmaninoff’s evocative Trio ‘Élégiaque’ no. 1, in g minor, Turina’s colorful Quartet in a minor, op. 67, and Schumann’s vibrant Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, op. 44.

The Guitar Ensemble is comprised of guitarists who read standard musical notation. This performance will include guitar ensemble literature from the Renaissance to the present, including music of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras, as well as jazz and rock. Directed by Jon Minei

This hybrid of a piano recital and an autobiographical monologue is a story of immigration, of growing up a musician, of love, told by the artist herself, between performances of a varied program, including works by Shchedrin, Bach, Freidlin, Mozart, Chopin, Paganini, and Beethoven.

LP and The Vinyl perform beautiful re-imagined jazz arrangements by artists including The Beatles, David Bowie, and Stevie Wonder, fresh and funky explorations of jazz standards, and their own original songs. Through Leonard Patton’s charisma, and interplay between pianist Danny Green, bassist Justin Grinnell, and drummer Julien Cantelm, the audience is taken along for the ride all the way!

Hear concert organist Dr. Philip Hoch combine forces of the organ with the “soaring soprano” of ECC professor Erin Wood to blow the roof off the Campus Theatre! BRASIL GUITAR DUO

The Brasil Guitar Duo, João Luiz and Douglas Lora (LAGQ), met in São Paulo as teenage guitar students and are equally at home on a classical or world-music series or performing a concerto with orchestra. The Duo actively strives to expand the repertoire for two guitars, with Lora contributing works of his own and Luiz arranging both classical and Brazilian music.

Three centuries ago, this island lured thousands of pirates from the Caribbean (such as Captain Kidd). They used Madagascar as a base of operations for the seizing and plundering of ships of all flags, in the Indian Ocean. It’s believed Robert Louis Stevenson used one of the islands of Madagascar, St. Mary, as the inspiration for his famous book, Treasure Island.
