tray Poems (Poemas extraviados) el Nuevo libro de poesía de Alejandro Murguía publicado por City Lights of San Francisco, está lleno de energía de principio a fin. “Estos poemas son para la comunidad del distrito de la Misión”, escribe Murguía en su dedicatoria del libro. Esta proclamación es parte del discurso de aceptación como Poeta Laureado de San Francisco el
27 de enero de 2013, cuando éste le dijo al alcalde Ed Lee que aceptaba el honor “solamente a nombre de mi comunidad”. Con 110 páginas, el libro es una compañía para viajar en autobús alrededor de la ciudad y el área de la bahía. Incluye siete poemas y resúmenes de la historia literaria de los latinos de los años setenta a los noventa. “Yo llego a la poesía por una necesidad de alguna forma, viniendo de una urgente necesidad de definir quién soy pero también como una manera de darle voz a
mi comunidad”, dijo Murguía. Y esa voz tiene garra. Un poema que recuerda su primera lectura describe un encuentro con la policía. El libro está bien escrito y muy compacto. No hay una palabra extra en él.Y la poesía de Murguía es accesible. “No necesitas un profesor de teoría literaria para que se lo reconstruya”, dijo un amigo de Murguía. City Lights Foundation publicó este poemario en febrero de 2014. El libro es el sexto dentro de la serie Poetas Laureados. Profesor de Estudios Latinos en la Universidad Estatal de San Francisco, Murguía es autor de otros dos libros, El frente del sureste y Esta guerra llamada Amor (Southern Front y This War Called Love, títulos en inglés) --ambos
