Thursday, 11th August 2016 and time for the El-Valle evening walk. As usual in July and August the walk moves from an 11am start to 7pm in an attempt to avoid the excesses of the sun!!!! Also as usual this walk was routed and led by Stewart and Elaine with a start at Caleta port. Eleven members turned up for the walk and eventually eleven members completed the walk after Stewart mounted a solo search and rescue mission, more later!!!!!

We set off walking through the port but having cleared the port we turned inland and made our way along various tracks and paths until we crossed the A7 motorway, not literally, it does have bridges and
subways!!!!!!!!! As we turned to parallel the A7 Stewart offered a short cut to anyone who was so inclined and two walkers took him up on this and they were instructed/advised where to stop and wait for the rest of us to join them, simple, NO.
The main body continued inland and turned again to arrive above the Baviera Golf Course where we expected to join the shortcut two!!!! They were not there and at first it was thought that they had just made their way to the start so we all started back. Stewart had second thoughts and decided he would retrace his steps for another check. He gave us clear instructions on the route HE WANTED us to take.
Three of us dutifully followed his instructions but the others, some way behind us, shouted after us about taking a different route. We called back that they should follow us but no, they knew best and we now had two missing in action and five disobeying orders!!!!!! We all arrived back at the coast, minus Stewart and the missing two and we advised Stewart by phone that they were not there. A few minutes later Stewart phoned to say he had found the lost souls and they were returning to our restaurant, Eclipse, for the meal. As usual the menu del dia was good value and we were joined for the meal by three other non-walkers. Facts and Figures Distance 7.84kms Time 1hr 40mins Height gained 135mtrs Thanks again to Stewart for his leadership and Hasta Senderismo!!!!
AUGUST QUAD REPORT BY JACKIE & ROGER FREWIN There is very little for me to report for August given that I personally have not gone out at all this month, because I simply cannot tolerate the heat. There have been a few small group outings consisting of two or three quads, depending on availability but most of the group have been away for the summer. I know there have been some more fairly lengthy trips out to the masts
overlooking Malaga including visits to a Polish-run bar, which I’m rather eager to experience for myself but I have no photographs to share with you. Mike L. also devised a new route to Alfarnatejo that ended up on an extremely narrow path with overhanging bushes. Hopefully, I’ll be able to provide a first-hand report covering these trips and more during September, as the weather starts to cool down, though as I write this the temperature is around 40° in
the shade so it might be a while yet before I start to venture out. Are you interested in joining our friendly group? It’s a really fun way to explore and appreciate the area. You’ll find more information and contact details on the El Valle web page at http://www.el-valle asociacion.com/the-quaddies/.
