Around the valle september 2019 Issue no. 8
Chairman's report by Sue Jones Well, here we are, September has arrived and hopefully bringing some slightly cooler weather with it, although Gwilym and I can’t complain as we escaped to Wales where contrary to all beliefs, it doesn’t rain all the time!!! We have had some glorious weather without the extreme heat. It has been nice catching up with family and old friends. I hope you have all coped with the extreme heat this year, or, maybe like us, you escaped to your home country. Now, down to business, don’t forget the change of venue this month, we are meeting at “TU PUNTO DE ENCUENTRO, ASADOR” next to the Indian Palace in Puente don Manuel. Do come along and let us have your feedback regarding the change. For
our first meeting we have a quiz compiled by one of our members, Philip Paviour, it promises to be a good one! Monday is also your very last chance to book for the trip to Guaro for “La Luna Mora” a magical evening amongst the candlelit streets. Coming up for the October meeting is a talk by representatives of the Guardia Civil which should be very interesting, and don’t forget the Car Treasure Hunt on October 24th. This is always a fun day and a way of possibly finding unknown corners of our area. This has been organised by Louis and Chris. Looking back to July, I believe the “Who wants to live like a million-
aire” was great fun and thank you to Martyn and Louis for organising it. The menu del dia also seems to have gone down a treat, as usual, it is one of our events that always goes down well so look out for more, maybe down on the coast, during the cooler months. The walking groups have also been very active during July and August despite the extreme heat, switching their start times from 11:00 to 19:00 so as to avoid the worst of the heat. That’s all for this month, don’t forget, members of the committee will be back on duty at Meson Sara from this Friday, 6th September at 12:00 to 13:00.
