Chairmans report by sue Jones Welcome back after the hot summer, although it doesn’t seem to have cooled down much yet! I hope you enjoyed your summer wherever you spent it. We have a full programme of events line up for you to enjoy for the rest of the year culminating in our usual pre-Christmas dinner & dance. This year tickets will be sold exclusively to our members until the 5th November after which we
will open it up to non-members, so don’t delay, get your names down as soon as you can. Meson Sara is closed at the moment so you will find representatives from El Valle across the road at the bar next door to Maroma Estate agents for the first few Fridays of September, we think Meson Sara will re-open about the September.

Your committee is already hard at work planning events and trips for 2019 if you have any ideas of places you would like to go then let us know and we will investigate if it is possible .I look forward to seeing you at the September meeting or at our Friday meeting points. Summer has definitely arrived with the temperatures rising high and already I have heard comments of “wish it would cool down a bit”!!!! This could also perhaps account for the relatively low number of members who turned up for the July meeting at the Camping Bar. Sue opened the meeting at 7.30pm with a reminder that there would be no August meeting and no Friday market attendance. Sue continued with her run down on the El-Valle Asociacion’s past present and forthcoming events and confirmed that the “big” trip to Valencia was definitely going ahead as sufficient interest had been expressed and deposits taken. At 7.40pm Sue announced that our evenings entertainment was to be L A Duo which as the name suggests were a singing duo comprising of Lorraine and Alan, many of us will know Alan from his previous group membership and possibly from his plumbing expertise !!!!!!!
A short break was called to visit the bar and such and at 7.50pm the show started!!!
It was not long before L A Duo had us up and dancing and it was a pity that numbers were so low as Lorraine and Alan were very good and I think we may well be seeing them in the future. Alan called a short break and then completed the second part of their appearance finally stopping at 9.20pm. Sue announced that the cash box contents stood at €160.00 but despite three attempts Peter failed to select the correct key, the other two attempts, both from my table, Lin and Terry, also failed in their quest to go home richer that they had arrived. The meeting was finally closed at 9.25pm with a reminder that August did not have a meeting.

OCTOBER 11th
Led by Stewart an Elaine. Start at Benagalbon fountain roundabout (west of Rincon de la Victoria) and walk to Malaga. You can either bus back or for those strong ones, walk back. We need an earlier start for this one, so the walk starts at 10:30 Description: 3-4hrs, 18km, along coast paths, good tracks.
NOVEMBER 8th
Led by Ian and Barbaran Taylor. We will meet in the large car park on the approach road to Almachar Description: 2hrs, 5km, long uphill section, most good tracks. Starts 11:00
JUly walk BY stewart common It was Thursday the 12th July and we met outside the Aldi carpark in Caleta de Velez. The walk was led by Stewart and Elaine. A very hot evening with a circular walk planned. Eighteen turned up and we had sixteen walkers up so we were off to a good start. Our usual scribe was away so I have to remember where we went and what we did. We headed off out past an urbanisation toward Torre del Mar, all on flat tracks/side roads. Up past the Hippotecca ?? the horse place where Ruby enjoyed herself up setting the dogs in the adjoining field (its an easy way to exercise Ruby) . We then crossed a main road under the motorway and headed alongside it passing under the motorway and the dried riverbed, then head-
ing up (yes up !! they do have hills in Caleta) a road towards the Baviera golf club and urbanisation. From here it was all downhill back to the Caleta port area. We all met up with the two non walkers back at the Eclipse restaurant and sat down to enjoy a few drinks and very good Menu del Dia. Facts and figures: Distance - 5km ish. Time - 1hr 20 minutes Accent to the top - Quite a lot. Walkers - 16 Eaters - 18 Sorry Alan I know when you write the reports we have accurate information, this time its a bit ISH.
Hope all of you who did the walk enjoyed the day, we certainly did. The next El Valle walk is led by Jan and Barry Barnett and is on Thursday August 9th at 7.00pm. The directions are we meet in the carpark of Pepi Molinos in Almayate (just along the main N340 from Torre towards Malaga, about 2kms and then turn right up towards Almanyate village and you will see the carpark on the left). It's a flat walk and will be hot so bring plenty of water. Hope to see as many of you as possible there.

Almunecar firewrks by alan impey Almunecar Fireworks El-Valle decided it was time to revisit Almunecar for the annual Firework Festival and this year it was held on Wednesday 15th August. This trip has always proved popular with the membership and this year was no exception and a coach of over 50 members, guests and visitors were to visit the spectacle. The starting point was outside Mis Tapita’s, (Billy’s Bar) in Puente don Manuel and the coach departed on time at 6.45pm. The first stop was at the Repsol garage close to the A7 motorway where the remaining passengers were picked up and then it was straight to Almunecar arriving about an hour later. We were dropped in the centre of town at the bus station and told that departure was at 12.45am prompt. Everyone made their own way down to the sea front which was the location for the display. My group of 7 had taken the chance a week earlier to visit Almunecar and find a restaurant on the paseo and close to the site of the firework display. As it is always a well attended and popular visitor attraction the restaurants tend to put on special menus at set prices and ours was no different. We took our table at 8.45pm and were there for the night. Our food was good and the staff very friendly and helpful and after the meal ended around 11pm we settled in our seats with drinks and waited for the display to start. We were not to be disappointed and the display to music was superb and it prompted two of our group who have attended similar things in Dubai to declare that it was every bit as
good, if not better, than anything they had seen in Dubai.
Shortly after midnight we started to make our way back to the coach parking area but had sufficient time in hand for a final drink near to the bus station before setting of back home. I for one was asleep shortly after the bus left and did not wake until we stopped to drop the first passengers at the Repsol garage where they had joined us. It was then back to Puente don Manuel for the rest of us and the end of a very successful evening/night out, arriving back around 2am. Main committee members for this trip were Sue, Stewart and Elaine and they deserve our thanks for the work they put in to make it a success.
1st DAY: PUENTE DON MANUEL (MIS TAPITAS) - >> VALENCIA Departure at 7.30 am from Mis Tapitas (Puente Don Manuel), stop on the road for coffee and breakfast. Free time for lunch en route (not included), continuation of the trip arrival in VALENCIA Around 18.00h. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. 2nd DAY: VALENCIA. Breakfast at the hotel and departure to visit Valencia with local guide in English, where we will visit, The Fallas Museum, Basilica, Merchants' Market that is a World Heritage Site, Central Market, National Museum of Ceramics, City Hall etc ... Free afternoon and evening. 3rd DAY: VALENCIA- AND CITY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES. Breakfast at the hotel and departure to visit The City of Arts and Sciences (entrance included Ocenografic + Hemisferic + Museum), it is considered the largest in Europe. Entry included. Afternoon and evening free 4th DAY: ALBUFERA- TOURIST BUS TOUR WITH BOAT AND MENU PAELLA IN THE ALBUFERA Breakfast at the hotel and departure to visit the Albufera National Park. We will go by boat observing the abundant native migratory fauna, as well as the aquatic vegetation. Lunch paella menu included.
5th DAY: VALENCIA- CARTAGENA- PUENTE DON MANUEL (MIS TAPITAS) Breakfast and departure to visit CARTAGENA with local guide, we will visit the most important of the city, among it, we will visit the remains of the Roman Theatre and (entrance included). Free time for lunch and departure to the place of origin, Brief stops on route, arrival and end of service.

August walk by alan impey El-Valle Walk Thursday 9th August 2018. The August walk, as usual, was a 7pm start time and again as is becoming the norm was routed and led by Barry and Jan. The start was from Pepe Molinos car park in Almayate on the coast and 11 walkers were there to take part.
We soon reached the high point all 40 meters of it!!!!! and then it was a gentle undulating walk on good tracks and paths before we dropped down to the coast and walked for a while along near to the nudist beach and despite shouts of “Don’t look Ethel” but it was too late!!!!!!!
In no time at all we were once again approaching Pepe Molinos where we were to enjoy a good meal and drink and our numbers were increased to 14!!!!!! Thank you Barry and Jan for your efforts. Walk Details; Length 6.76 Kms. Total Time 1hr 40mins Moving Time 1hr 30mins Stopped Time 10mins Ave. Moving Speed 4.5 kms per hour.
The weather was still very warm but throughout the walk we were fortunate to have a cooling breeze most of the time and the walk was routed to make the most of any shade. We set off going slightly inland before paralleling the coast albeit slightly inland.
Forthcoming events in malaga One of the biggest events in Malaga of the year, the Pasarela Larios takes place on Friday 15 & Saturday 16th September at 8:30 pm. Calle Larios takes centre stage with a blue carpet that stretches over 300m, making it one of the longest catwalks in the world! On Friday, the catwalk plays host to local designers, Haute couture designer Mona Almansouri from UAE will also be showcasing her latest collection and Abraham Zambrana will be presenting his first collection of women’s shoes. Saturday evening has models strutting their stuff in outfits from Sixteen One, Banana Moon Dunnes & Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. This is a
packed event so if you want a seat, get there early before 7:30 pm.
Classic Film Festival Returns to Malaga from 6 to 13th September The week long festival includes the showing of 22 classic films in their original version including 5 directed by Hitchcock (Secret Agent made in 1936 is one of them) and 4 by Mankiewicz, Godard and Donen. The event starts with a free showing of Sunset Boulevard in Calle Alcazabilla on Friday 6th September at 10:00pm. Musical Events in Malaga in September.
Classical Music Season. The Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra starts its season playing Prokoiev and Janacek at the Cervantes Theatre on Thursday 13th & Friday 14th at 8:00pm. Tickets from €9.. The season continues with a concert featuring Tchaikovsky and Saint-Saens on Thursday 27th & Friday 28th at 8:00pm. This year the Cervantes Theatre celebrates 30 years of opera performances and to commemorate the occasion there’s a festival of opera. The concert takes place of Friday 21t September at 9pm. Tickets start at €12.
