HOW PROUD ARE WE Chairmans report by sue Jones What a month!!! First, there was the invitation from the British Ambassador to attend a Garden Party in Madrid! We were a bit sceptical at first as it came so out of the blue, but having confirmed that yes, it was genuine Gwilym and I made plans to attend. Unfortunately, or fortunatley, depending on how you look at it, we were due to leave Malaga on a cruise the very next day to celebrate my 70th birthday!! So, I get on the internet to search for a place to stay for one night then book the train to go up to Ma-
drid on the Friday afternoon and return home on the Saturday evening after the Garden Party, mad rush but thoroughly enjoyed it. Luckily, Stewart & Elaine and Carol and Ben were able to extend their visit by a few days before and after in order to enjoy Madrid. As I mentioned, we were leaving Malaga the next day for my birthday cruise up the coast to Porto, Lisbon, Portimao, Cadiz and Gibraltar before returning to Malaga one week later, thoroughly enjoyable especially as Gwilym treated me to a Champagne supper that evening!
However, you will be pleased to know the Committee have been working very hard in my absence with a programme of events for the rest of the year. On another matter, if you have bought a ticket for an event and are unable to attend, please contact a member of the committee before selling it on to a friend who is not a member, there may be a waiting list for that event and the ticket could be used by another member who should take priority over non members.
