1. Preface Dear readers, As a company with global operations we bear responsibility for our employees, business partners and succeeding generations in line with our sustainability and quality policies. With this focus we emphasize our will with a view to the future to decrease greenhouse gases to protect the environment and to further promote sustainable development in our company. Also for EJOT, environmental protection and the sustainable use of resources are amongst the most important future projects.

EJOT products help to save energy and to protect the environment Continuous improvement of the production processes is an economic as well as an environmentally important fact. Not only in product development but also in production we will continuously minimise environmental effects and thus ensure the protection of the environment.

Our products help us to achieve these goals as well because: Screws are basically removable products and therefore recyclable. Sheet thicknesses can be reduced with the use of innovative products. This is especially important in automobile construction because it not only saves raw material, but lightweight design is also a very effective way to reduce fuel consumption.In 2019, we determined an overall environmental impact of our non-detachable connections for the first time.

EJOT is also a pioneer in the building industry. On the one hand, our products are used to fasten systems for renewable energies such as photovoltaics and on the other hand, our anchors are used for installing thermal insulation for buildings. Our Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for fastening systems, substructure systems and self-tapping construction screws are continuously improved and updated.

EJOT – with more more than 3600 employees in 33 subsidiaries and with over 90 years of company history. This report has been prepared in accordance with the internationally recognized guidelines of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and has meanwhile become an integral part of our sustainability strategy. It serves to transparently reflect our economic and ecological performance. We want to reinforce our stakeholders' trust in our company by actively communicating strengths and weaknesses.

Summary Customer inquiries and the current political discussion about our social path towards climate neutrality prompted us to present the topic of sustainability in our customer magazine "Graphic Drehmoment" in a comprehensive way from the perspective of the EJOT world. With this CCF report, the EJOT Group continues to make its contribution to the international sustainability debate. Since 2013 we have been compiling an operational greenhouse gas balance sheet according to the international standards of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and DIN EN ISO 14064. The report focuses on the significant and influenceable emission sources of the EJOT Group. This means that all relevant environmental data are presented transparently and unambiguously.

In 2019, the CCF 2018 was checked for the first time by an external service company. As a result, various improvement potentials could be implemented. This meant that all reports from 2016 on had to be corrected. The emission factor for purchased electricity was adjusted to the current emission factor of the network provider. By using the real emission factor of the network provider, the CO2e emissions electricity were reduced by an average of more than 70%.

Furthermore, scope categories with high uncertainty, such as for example transport emissions, scope 3.4 and scope 3.9, emissions from plant assets and investments, scope 3.2 as well as the services scope 3.1 were excluded from the assessment of the upstream and downstream value chain. Additionally, emissions from the purchase of i.a. aluminium slit strip, scope 3.1, were collected retroactively to 2016. The year 2016 was set as the new base year.

Since 1998, we have been certified according to the internationally recognized environmental stardard ISO 14001. In addition to a continuous improvement of the system, the focus of these measures is also on increasing the environmental awareness at all our production sites. In 2019, our exisiting environmental management system in China was included in the sustainability assessment of the EJOT Group for the first time. In 2013, we implemented an energy management system according to ISO 50001 for the first time at our sales and production sites in the European Community. We were able to record various savings potentials thanks to a considerable number of investments in energy saving projects at our German and international sites. Some examples are given in the description of the respective locations. When it comes to our construction projects, we not only orientate ourselves to national guidelines, but also try to consider international guidelines such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

As an internationally growing company, there are both positive and negative developments in greenhouse gas balances at every location. Particularly in the case of negative developments, we question our fields of activity and realign them in a future-oriented manner.

4. System boundaries By specifying system boundaries, EJOT defines the subjects relevant to the company.

4.1.

Greenhouse gas emissions can thus be converted into "CO2 equivalents" and summarised. CO2 equivalents are designated with the abbreviation "CO2e".

The natural gas/heating oil consumption from the stationary heating systems are considered.

Monthly meter readings are sent to the UAG department for data preparation. The meters are currently being read manually.

The fuel consumption of diesel and petrol of the EJOT vehicle fleet is examined. The data for the German vehicle fleet is reported monthly to the UAG department by the EJOT vehicle fleet manager. For 2018, CO2e data was transmitted directly from the contract partner for the first time.

In addition, diesel and liquid petrol gas consumption of forklift trucks is determined.

For EJOT Mexico, Poland, Turkey, Switzerland and Sweden, the data is transmitted by the local environmental management officer.

Description of the system boundaries at EJOT

Climate-relevant gases are considered which could escape due to leaks in air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.

The systems are evaluated using a list of "cooling and air-conditioning systems" for the respective location, which is updated annually.

Due to the large number of systems, a leakage loss of 5% of the filling volume of the system is considered.

With a filling volume of 20 kg of coolant, for example, a loss of 5% would equal 1 kg.

The emissions are calculated for this kg of coolant loss per year.

Furthermore, car air-conditioning systems are considered.

Rented cooling systems, such as in Sweden, are not considered.

The use of gases in heat treatment and electroplating is considered.

These are methanol, propane and ammonia.

Natural gas which was intended to be used in the heat treatment, washing unit and electroplating plant was considered in scope 1.1. This prevents duplication of the data.

SAP evaluations form the database. This scope category is only considered for the locations Tambach and Untere Bienhecke. Furthermore, volatile organic compounds (VOC) from the washing units are examined according to 31.

BImSchV. Further emissions, for example natural gas consumption for processes at the locations in Mexico and Turkey are included in the scope 1 category.

The distance between the airports is determined with the distance calculator luftlinie.org.

The routes from the location to the airport or from the airport to the direct destination are not taken into account.

Domestic flights, long-haul and short-haul flights are accounted for separately.

For air travel emission factors, 9% are added to the distance in order to account for additionally covered distances (e.g. re-routing, holding patterns). Furthermore, this value is multiplied by a "Radiative Forcing Index (RFI) of 1.9, which accounts for the increased impact of air travel emissions.

Employee commuting

The distance from the employee's hometown to his workplace is considered.

The basis are 220 working days.

The outward and return journeys are accounted for.

Due to the large number of employees in Germany, the percentage change in the number of employees is offset against the average distance for the first time in 2018.

Example: Average distance employees to and from work is 10 km.

Compared to 2017, there are 100 employees more. So 100 people * 10 km = 1000 Pkm more must be considered when calculating emissions.

It is assumed that every employee drives to the workplace by car, this means that carpooling, bicycle, on foot, etc. is not taken into account.

General remarks:

In order to make the efficiency measures for reducing emissions visible, a new strategic group key figure was determined after a decision by the Holding management in December 2018.

The aim is to directly influence quantities such as electricity, production volume, used granulate and shipping quantity. In order to achieve this aim, projects which are intended to have a positive impact on these parameters will be launched from 2019 on.

A comparison of the reporting year with the base year takes place with current emission factors.

The emission factors at the international locations in Poland, Mexico, Switzerland, Turkey, China and Sweden are checked by the responsible persons. These emission factors only refer to scope 1 and 2 categories.

The greenhouse gas emissions for the period from 01.01.2019 to 31.12.2019 are reported.

6. Results of the Corporate Carbon Footprint 6.1.

DQS pre-audit June 2019

After the pre-audit of the CCF in June 2019, two auditors from the DQS identified improvement potentials and reviewed them retroactively to the base year 2016.

The biggest change was the adjustment of the emission factor (EF) for electricity. After a uniform EF electricity from 2010 was used for calculation between 2013 and 2018, the significantly better EF of the network provider is now considered. As a result, the emissions from the consumption of electricity were significantly lower than calculated in previous years.

Changing network provider in 2019 had another effect that had previously been neglected when purchasing electricity.

Whereas the current provider's EF electricity was 0.275 kg CO2e / kWh in December 2018, the EF electricity of the new provider EWE was 0.362 kg CO2e / kWh in January 2019. However, this less favorable factor decreased over the course of the year and was 0.318 kg CO2e / kWh electricity in December 2019.

At the individual locations, natural gas consumption is divided into the consumption of natural gas from stationary combustion sources (heating systems) and the consumption for production, e.g. for washing units, CHP, hardening furnaces.

For example, at the Tambach location, only approx. 15% of the emissions from natural gas consumption scope 1 can be attributed to the heating systems. The remaining 85% are attributable to the consumption for hardening furnaces, electroplating and CHP. At the Herrenwiese location, 50% of the emissions from natural gas consumption come from the heating systems, the rest is distributed between the CHP and the washing unit.

At the Untere Bienhecke location, 56% of the emissions from natural gas consumption come from the heating systems, the rest is distributed between the embrittlement furnace and electroplating.

The goal is to influence this key figure through operational programs. In order to detect significant energy hotspots, an energy team made an energy efficiency analysis in 2018.

A less significant emission source are the emissions from stationary combustion sources. In 2019, the emissions from natural gas consumption were approx. 24% lower than in 2018.

Natural gas is only needed for heating systems at the location. This means that the natural gas consumption depends on the age of the system and the outside temperature.

In order to reduce the gas consumption, repairs were carried out on the ventilation system, amongst other things. Heat recovery was also optimised based on an energy efficiency analysis. Apart from the influence of the outside temperatures on the gas consumption, these measures reduced natural gas consumption in 2019. Chart 12

This can be explained as follows: On the one hand, incoming wires were booked to the location Herrenwiese (Cold Forming BLB) in 2018. Thus, emissions from scope 3.1 category were significantly lower than in 2017.

In 2019, the incoming wires were booked back to the location Untere Bienhecke (Cold Forming Laasphe). Overall, there is a positive trend. On the other hand, the relocation of micro screws to the location Herrenwiese (Cold Forming BLB) has to be considered - chart 13.

The strategic key figure "CO2e electricity / production volume" slightly increased in 2019 compared to 2018. Due to the micro screw relocation, the strategic key figure will have to be re-evaluated from 2020 on - chart 14.

For example, the entire micro screw production was relocated to the site Herrenwiese in September 2019. Heading, thread rolling, washing unit and the tooling department were affected by the relocation - chart 15.

Further important direct emission sources are emissions from natural gas consumption (scope 1.1) and a indirect emission source such as purchased wire (scope 3.1). At the location Untere Bienhecke, various major systems have been equipped with energy meters in recent years, which, for example, record the heat flows at the hardening furnaces, electroplating and washing units.

The emissions from natural gas consumption show a slightly negative trend compared to 2016.

However, a distinction must be made between heating gas and production gas. 44% of the natural gas consumption at the entire site is attributable to production. This includes the embrittlement furnace and parts of electroplating - chart 17.

Another considerable emission source are purchased goods, for example wire (scope 3.1). In addition to weather-related heating, natural gas is also required at this location for the combined heat and power plant and the washing units. All mentioned units are metrologically recorded.

As at the location Untere Bienhecke, a distinction is made between natural gas consumption for heating and for production, i.e. central washing unit or the CHP. Furthermore, the micro screw washing unit is no longer operated by electricity, but by natural gas. A natural gas meter has not yet been installed, but should be installed urgently, so that this consumption is no longer included in the heating, as the values would otherwise be biased. At the moment, about 50% of the natural gas consumption is attributed to production, i.e. the big central washing unit and the CHP. The remaining 50% of the natural gas consumption is pure heating and therefore also depends on the age of the system and the weather. The smaller micro screw washing unit was installed in autumn 2019 and is also included in heating in the evaluation. Emissions from electricity consumption increased by approx. 13% compared to the base year 2016 - chart 21.

The location has continuously been expanded in recent years. Units, such as the new media centre for the storage of flammable gases, which require approval under the 4th BImSchV (Bundes-Immissionsschutzgesetz - Federal Immission Control Act), were put into operation in early 2018. The total production volume decreased by approx. 6% compared to 2018. In recent years there have been various major construction projects. This electricity consumption is included in the strategic key figure CO2e electricity / production volume - chart 24.

Natural gas is needed for the stationary heating systems and infrared radiant heaters as well as for the electroplating unit, hardening furnaces and the combined heat and power plant. Another significant and directly influenceable emission source are purchased goods, such as wire and granulate (scope 3.1).

Looking at the emissions from natural gas consumption, a negative trend compared to the base year 2016 can be seen - chart 25.

Just like at the locations Herrenwiese and Untere Bienhecke, a distinction must be made at the location Tambach between natural gas consumption for stationary combustion sources and for production. Emissions which are attributable to the heating systems have a share of around 31% in the total emissions from natural gas consumption. Again, these depend on the weather and the age of the system. The remaining 69% are attributable to the CHP, hardening furnaces and electroplating - chart 26.

The top 1 project in the BU EJOSYST is the construction of a new energy-efficient drying unit in 2020.

Thanks to numerous energy saving projects, the strategic key figure CO2e electricity / sales volume could be influenced in a significantly positive way during the past 4 years - chart 34.

6.8.1. Total CO2e EJOT Holding The system limits of the CCF also include the EJOT Holding. The EJOT vehicle fleet of the Holding employees, domestic and foreign business travels (only air travel) as well as commuting by the Holding employees are accounted for. Total emissions from the mentioned scope categories decreased by approx. 12% compared to the base year 2016 - chart 38.

Only emissions from scope 1, direct emissions and scope 2, indirect emissions are considered.

Scope 3 emissions from the upstream and downstream value-added chain are currently not accounted for at the international locations. Only the data concerning the significant emissions at the locations are analysed.

6.9.1. EJOT ATF Mexico Number of employees at the end of 2019: 198 Units i.a.: Hardening shop, heading, thread rolling, washing units, powder coating plant, sorting machines 6.9.2. In September 2018, there were mechanical problems with the new furnace, so that the old furnace had to be reactivated. Since this furnace had not been in operation for a long time, it took some days to set the parameters correctly. Furthermore, both furnaces then had to be operated at the same time in order to rework the produced quantity. This explains the higher consumption in 2018.

In 2019, the natural gas consumption of the furnaces normalised and was even below the natural gas consumption in 2017, so that the effects of a new energy-efficient furnace become visible here.

Emissions from the EJOT vehicle fleet, solely petrol-engined vehicles, increased over the past few years. However, we aim at converting the vehicle fleet to energy-saving 1.5-litre vehicles - chart 44.

Emissions from the EJOT vehicle fleet Turkey have increased over the last years. Due to the good order situation, new sales representatives had to be hired in the Construction division, which is why the number of company cars increased from 30 vehicles in 2016 to 39 vehicles in 2019. This means an increase of 30% within the past 4 years. Most of the company cars have an energy-saving motor with a 1.5- or 1.6-litre displacement - chart 49.

6.9.6. Total CO2e EJOT Polska Compared to 2016, total emissions from scope 1 and 2 increased by 63%. Thanks to the good economic situation, it was possible to increase production many times over. The location was expanded by a new production hall of more than 3,000 m² and by office space of more than 1,000 m² - chart 50.

The strategic key figure CO2e electricity / used granulate shows a negative trend, which is also due to the strong growth of the location. Any electricity consumption from construction activities is included in the strategic key figure - chart 51.

6.9.6.1.

Significant emission sources EJOT Polska

The most significant emission source at the location in Poland are emissions from purchased electricity (scope 2). Emissions from electricity consumption increased by approx. 22% compared to 2018. This increase is amongst others due to the increase in production - chart 52.

A large proportion of electricity in Poland is generated by coal, which leads to a relatively high emission factor compared to other European countries. The trend is negative, with the result that the management decided at the end of 2019 to purchase certificates for green electricity with proof of origin from 2020 on. From 2020 on, EJOT Polska will thus emit 0 emissions from electricity consumption. For detailed information, see subchapter 6.9.6.3.

6.9.6.2. •

What have we achieved?

Analysis of the energy consumption of injection moulding machines.

Target:

Reducing the energy consumption by using a functional energy measurement system.

Measures:

The project has not yet been finished. Thanks to the energy measurement system, it was possible in 2018 to compare the operation of machines with and without eco-drive, to identify significant energy consumers and to adjust the electricity consumption. With this system, it was also possible to thoroughly plan the energy purchase for 2020.

Remarks: In future, it will be possible to compare the energy efficiency of a machine on the basis of the production of the same part on two different machines.

This enables a greater use of machines with higher energy efficiency.

•

Analysis of the increased energy consumption in relation to granulate consumption The company is in a phase of strong development and dynamic changes (including expansion by a B2 hall, increased production, relocation of machines).

In the framework of the project, the energy consumption which is not related to the amount of granulate was analysed and identified, including the cleanroom and assembly machines. Furthermore, a larger number of engineering plastics led to a significant increase in the energy consumption of the dryer. Machines with a low injection weight for processing engineering plastics consume about 5 times more energy for processing 1 kg of plastics.

Measures:

A high number of stops on the machines directly led to an increased amount of waste. An analysis detected this problem. As a result, measures were initiated which led to the environmental target set in 2019 being achieved.

Reducing the production of plastic waste in the production department by sorting and feeding back plastic waste into the production processes.

Plastic waste is currently being classified into three types: PE, PA and MIX. In order to protect the natural environment, PE waste should be completely recycled and sorted so that some of the materials can be recovered.

The location in Switzerland has no significant emission source which is above 500 t CO2e per year. This is amongst others due to the low emission factor. The electricity mix in Switzerland is mainly made up of climate-friendly nuclear energy and a high proportion of hydropower.

Despite the climate-friendly electricity mix in Switzerland, EJOT Schweiz AG is considered a large-scale consumer. Therefore, it was agreed with the federal government that 2% of energy shall be saved per year over a period of 10 years. In order to achieve this target, several projects have been implemented, are in progress or in the planning stage - chart 57.

6.9.11.1.

Significant emission sources EJOT Taicang China

The location has a size of around 18,550 m². A first analysis was started retroactively for 2019 which currently accounts for the scope 1 category (direct emissions) and the scope 2 category (indirect emissions from purchased electricity).

Total emissions at the location EJOT China in 2019 are 4,072 CO2e [t] Most significant emission source at the location in China are emissions from electricity consumption, 3,995 CO2e [t]. There is no natural gas consumption. There is no district heating.

Another, yet insignificant emission source is the fuel consumption of the EJOT vehicle fleet, which is quite low at 76 CO2e [t]. Only petrol is used, no diesel. Furthermore, the biggest cooling system with a volume of 20 litres of coolant is considered. In the coming year, a first comparison of the CO2e emissions 2020 to 2019 can be made.

For 2019 to 2021, a contract was signed with the network provider which can save 100,000 RMB in 2020.

7. Assumptions and uncertainties 7.1.

EJOT Germany

Scope 1.1 Direct emissions from stationary combustion processes [natural gas consumption]: There are uncertainties in data transmission. A central monitoring of the natural gas consumption by the UAG department is not yet possible.

Scope 1.3 Direct fugitive emissions [leakage loss at cooling systems]: Due to the large number of cooling and air conditioning systems, a general loss of 2% per year and system volume was assumed.

All cooling and air conditioning systems that are listed in the documentation for compliance with legal requirements are taken into account. The age of the system is no longer taken into account, as older systems are gradually being replaced by new technology. Large systems which require monitoring, such as cooling systems at the locations Tambach, Berghausen and In der Aue are checked for leakage losses using the existing operation logs. Forklifts that run on diesel / LPG are also taken into account.

Scope 3.1 Purchased goods and services Considered are wire, granulates, gases, cleaning agents, oils and greases, chemicals, aluminium slit strip, packaging material and purchased goods for the Construction Division in Bad Laasphe. Goods supplied and used by cleaning companies, such as toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning agents, bin liners were assessed for the first time in 2018. However, the very small amount of emissions is disproportionate to the data collection. Therefore, cleaning companies are no longer considered. Only weight quantities are examined. Litres are converted into kilograms. Quantities which were listed in pieces or bottles in the data transmission will not be considered. There are uncertainties in the emission factors. For granulate and wire, an averaged value is used.

Scope 3.6 Business travel: The distance calculator luftlinie.org is used for flights. Destination airports for intermediate stops could not be considered. No train trips, taxi trips or rental vehicles were considered.

Scope 3.7 Employee commuting: For employee commuting, the distance calculator google maps is used. No carpools are taken into account. Commuting by foot or bicycle could not be taken into account. As a calculation basis, it was assumed that 1 employee works an average of 220 days. Possible inactive periods due to sick leave, for example, could not be considered.

Scope 3.12 End-of-life treatment of sold products: The basis is the respective sales volume at the locations Herrenwiese, Stockwiese and Berghausen.

Only the categories concerning scope 1 direct emissions and 2 indirect emissions from electricity consumption / district heating which are applicable for the locations in Mexico, 55
