A Letter from Meredith Sleichter, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Dear Friend, In 2025, The Eisenhower Foundation reached significant milestones that moved us closer to realizing our vision for the future while strengthening our commitment to preserving and sharing Dwight D. Eisenhower’s enduring legacy.

The most exciting progress came through our I Like Ike Capital Campaign and the development of the new Education Center. Early in the year, we advanced into the design phase with MultiStudio leading the architectural process and selected Newmark Zimmer as the project’s Owner’s Representative to help guide the project through completion.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our donors, trustees, and friends, campaign momentum continued to build throughout the year. By March, we had raised $10.8 million toward our $17 million goal, and by fall that total had grown to $13.6 million— 80% of the funds needed to create a world-class educational facility.

We also took another important step by selecting McCownGordon as Construction Manager for the Education Center, positioning us to move confidently toward our goal of breaking ground in spring 2026.

These accomplishments are a testament to the power of partnership. Every gift, every volunteer hour, and every advocate for our mission helps ensure that Eisenhower’s leadership, character, and commitment to public service continue to inspire people of all ages.

Projects: I LIKE IKE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN The I Like Ike Capital Campaign gained significant momentum in 2025. The Eisenhower Foundation selected McCownGordon as our construction firm and Newmark Zimmer as our owner’s representative. Through generous donations and major gifts to the campaign, we met our goal of securing 80% of our $17 million goal to move into the Construction Phase.

The Education Center building project moved into the Design Development Phase and will break ground in spring 2026. This Education Center is the centerpiece of our campaign and will serve as a hub for innovation and inspiration.

The new Eisenhower Education Center, slated to open in spring 2027, will complement the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum campus and feature the: Oval Office Classroom where students will explore how leadership grounded in integrity and service can define a nation Learning Lab, which will provide tools and encouragement for students to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, art, and math Global Studio where learners will step into the role of a decision-maker Immersion Theater, which will transform audiences from spectators into participants

Programming: IKEDUCATION IKEducation’s continuing mission is to provide teachers and students with engaging, standards-aligned learning experiences grounded in primary sources, which explore the life and legacy of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Through onsite, online, and outreach programs, we bring Eisenhower’s stories and artifacts to life. While rooted in history and civic education, our programs are intentionally cross-curricular, integrating STEM, language arts, fine arts, and the performing arts. IKEducation continues to grow and has served over 150,000 students and teachers since 2013.

The scale and complexity of subjects such as Operation Overlord, the Holocaust, and the American presidency can overwhelm students, leaving them feeling disconnected or incapable of understanding. IKEducation addresses this challenge by breaking down and personalizing these topics, forging meaningful connections between students and history—between past and present. As participation continues to grow, so does our commitment to expanding both access and impact.

Programming: PUBLIC PROGRAMS The Eisenhower Anniversary Series programs connect significant events within the Eisenhower legacy to contemporary issues that continue to impact our world today. Collaborations with a range of partner organizations allow the Foundation to present educational programs that explore and honor General and President Eisenhower.

June: Collaborated with the Eisenhower Presidential Library and = Salina Symphony to commemorate D-Day and honor World 87,166 War II veterans at the annual Symphony at Sunset concert.

September: On Constitution Day, the Eisenhower Presidential TOTAL Library hosted its first naturalization ceremony, welcoming 32 new citizens from 22 countries to our nation.

December: Panel discussion commemorating the 80th anniversary of Eisenhower’s “Atoms for Peace” speech, in partnership with the Public Diplomacy Council of America, the George Washington University's Institute for Public Diplomacy and Global Communication, and the USC Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership & Policy.

“Indescribable Horror”: When Eisenhower Witnessed the Holocaust American soldiers were unprepared for the horrors they discovered in the Ohrdruf concentration camp in April 1945. This shocking discovery prompted Supreme Allied Commander General Dwight D. Eisenhower to visit and bear witness to the atrocities himself.

2025 marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Ohrdruf. The Eisenhower Foundation organized a virtual program that explored why Eisenhower’s visit to Ohrdruf was a critical moment in documenting and protecting the truth of the Holocaust.

Campus Updates: EISENHOWER PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY & MUSEUM Visitation to the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum reached 70,000 in 2025, despite a six-week closure due to a federal lapse in funding. Visitors from all over the world explored the first-class museum exhibits, including We the People: Portraits of Veterans in America. This temporary exhibit featured 50 large-scale watercolor portraits by internationally acclaimed artist Mary Whyte, capturing the essence of today's heroes.

The Eisenhower Foundation awarded four Research Travel Grants during the 2025 grant cycle.

NEWSWEEK READERS’ CHOICE AWARD The Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum and Boyhood Home was recognized as the top winner in the Newsweek 2025 Readers' Choice Awards for #1 Best Presidential Attraction, underscoring the Eisenhower campus’ vital role in preserving and promoting the legacy of President and General Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum was one of ten sites selected for consideration by Newsweek’s featured panelists and contributors and voted on by readers as the best of the best.
