SUPERINTENDENT'S CORNER FROM DR. FELICIA DONALDSON, SUPERINTENDENT

Dear EISD Parents , Faculty , and Staff ,

I am excited we completed a successful first six weeks of school with the students and staff continuing to work hard each day . As the students arrive on campuses , I can see their smiles and the joy on their faces as they engage in the classroom .

As we begin our second six weeks of school , parents please remember that daily student attendance is critical to your child ’ s success at school . Our district initiative this year is to Erase The Gaps in learning caused by the COVID pandemic ; therefore , we need our students at school each day in order to address their academic and social emotional learning needs . Unless your child is ill , please send them to school . Attendance matters !

Also , please know that the safety and well - being of our students and staff continues to be our number one priority . In regards to the pandemic and other communicable diseases , please continue to screen your child each day for COVID - 19 symptoms as well as symptoms for other communicable diseases such as the Flu . If you have any questions or concerns contact your child ’ s school .

In addition , it takes all stakeholders working together as a team to meet the needs of our students and to ensure everyone ’ s safety . I ask of each of you if you see or hear something ; say something ! If you have any information you would like to share regarding safety , please contact your child ’ s school or the Student Services Department . Also , reports and tips can be submitted anonymously through our STOPIt app which can be found on our website .

As a reminder , we have upcoming district professional development and holidays in October . The professional development day is October 8 , 2021 ( no school for students ) , and October 11 , 2021 , is a districtwide holiday , all campuses and facilities will be closed . We encourage everyone to wear face masks to help mitigate the spread of COVID - 19 , and especially while indoors and after returning from an extended weekend break .

Thank you once again for your support and all that you do to ensure that we continue to move our students beyond limits each day ! We are truly stronger together !

Sincerely ,

Felicia Donaldson , Ed . D . Superintendent of Schools
