AWARD PRESENTATION Honorees RICHARD LERNER AMY AND MARK SHIRVAN JOHN STABILE, MD

Richard Lerner Visionary leaders rise to the occasion in decisive moments. Richard Lerner took the helm as Chairman of the Englewood Health System and Hospital Boards on April 1, 2000, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. He was steadfast in his leadership, working hand in hand with our extraordinary Executive and healthcare teams to guide the health system—and our community—through unprecedented challenges.

We emerged even stronger thanks to his steady thoughtful guidance.

A consistent champion for quality, safety and collaboration, Richard is dedicated to fostering relationships. His commitment extends beyond the boardroom, engaging business leaders and key stakeholders to preserve our collaborative culture and advance Englewood Health’s mission to deliver exceptional, world-class healthcare in a local, compassionate manner.

A man of many talents, Richard is an avid soccer player and is sought out for his keen ability to predict the weather. He plays the bass guitar and performs locally with various bands. He and Amy, his wife, are Bergen County residents and proud parents of Sydney and Benjamin.

Richard graduated from Dartmouth College.

Amy and Mark Shirvan Amy and Mark Shirvan’s impact on Englewood Health is woven into the fabric of the community. As dedicated ambassadors and generous benefactors, their legacy commitment to enhancing lives is personal and profound.

A cancer survivor, Amy has served on the Englewood Health Foundation Board since 2014, bringing invaluable insight and advocacy to her role as Chair of the Special Events Committee. Mark, a leader in the lumber, building materials and construction industry, understands the power of development in shaping access to healthcare. Inspired by the example set by his parents, who instilled in him a deep appreciation for philanthropy, Mark joins Amy in carrying forward a belief that we all have a responsibility to make a difference. The couple’s philanthropic vision became reality in 2023 with the opening of the Shirvan Family Live Well Center. Located in downtown Englewood, the Center empowers members of the community to embrace healthier lifestyles with free wellness educational programs and resources. Mark now co-chairs the next phase of We Will. The Englewood Health Campaign for Every Tomorrow, helping to continue enhancing the patient experience.

Residents of Demarest, the Shirvans embrace a life of health and happiness as avid golfers and devoted parents and grandparents.

John Stabile, MD Extraordinary skill and an unwavering commitment to patient care—ask the scores of patients who know Dr. John Stabile and they will share a personal story that showcases why he is known as ‘the doctor’s doctor.’

As a board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Stabile has cared for generations of families at Tenafly Eye Associates and at Englewood Health—but his impact reaches far beyond the exam room.

A dedicated member of the Englewood Health Foundation Board since 2006, he chairs the Nominating and Governance Committee, championing its mission for delivering next-level care through strong leadership and a generous spirit of philanthropy. The health system proudly dedicated the Dr. John and Barbara Stabile Garden at Englewood Health in recognition of Dr. Stabile and his wife, Barbara’s, leadership-level support of We Will. The Englewood Health Campaign for Every Tomorrow.

A philanthropic visionary, Dr. Stabile is dedicated to mentoring and inspiring the next generation of supporters to ensure Englewood Health continues to thrive now and well into the future.
