‫كتبت‪ :‬دانه الحدٌدى‬ ‫أكد مسعد عمران‪ ،‬رئٌس غرفة صناعة الحرف الٌدوٌة باتحاد الصناعات المصرٌة‪ ،‬أن الغرفة تتفاوض حالٌا‬ ‫مع إدارات المطارات لتخصٌص جزء من صاالت العرض بها‪ ،‬لعرض منتجات من الحرف الٌدوٌة‪.‬‬ ‫وأضاف عمران‪ ،‬فى تصرٌحات خاصة لـ"الٌوم السابع"‪ ،‬أنه ٌتم التواصل مع شركة مصر للطٌران أٌضا‪،‬‬ ‫حول مدى إمكانٌة تخصٌص مساحة إعالنٌة من مجلة الشركة‪ ،‬التى ٌتم توزٌعها على ركاب الطائرات‪،‬‬ ‫للدعاٌة للمنتجات الٌدوٌة‪ ،‬بهدف التروٌج بتلك المنتجات‪ ،‬تشجٌعا للعاملٌن بهذه الصناعات‪.‬‬ ‫وكانت غرفة صناعة الحرف الٌدوٌة باتحاد الصناعات المصرٌة قد طالبت وزارة اآلثار‪ ،‬بإقامة معارض‬ ‫لمنتجات الحرف الٌدوٌة‪ ،‬فى المنازل األثرٌة‪.‬‬

Volumes and yields predicted to grow in 2017

2016 has been a year of two halves, with a tough first half, but improvements in the second, Cathay Pacific general manager cargo sales & marketing, Mark Sutch (pictured below) tells Air Cargo Week staff writer, James Muir. Last year had an exceptional start, helped by the US West coast seaport disruption before tapering off while 2016 started off slowly, both in terms of tonnage and yield, then picking up in the second half. Sutch comments: “It’s not unusual in airfreight )particularly when based in Asia Pacific) to have a year of two halves and this has been very much the case.” September to December has been strong, but the transpacific market is slowing in the run up to Christmas, though Sutch says Westbound out of Hong Kong is expected to remain strong up to Christmas itself, giving him confidence that 2017 will start well. He tells ACW: “I am confident that 2017 will start on a significantly strong footing than 2016. Both yield and tonnage will grow – yield considerably.”

Something else to look forward to next year is Cathay Pacific’s joint business agreement with Lufthansa Cargo, which is due to go live on 1 February 2017. Lufthansa has already moved to the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal, which Sutch says has been very smooth and forwarders now have a single pick-up and drop-off area for services. Sutch says: “CX/LH will offer a seamless metal neutral product to the market. We believe this will bring customer efficiencies in HKG/ FRA and other points between HKG & Europe.” The biggest benefits for customers, Sutch says include a single point of. handling in both Frankfurt and Hong Kong, a greater choice of flights, a joint pool of capacity and a greater spread of flights across the week. Nearer to home, Sutch says Cathay Pacific has a very extensive network across Asia Pacific and much of the future growth will come from passenger aircraft with the arrival of Airbus A350s. He also says: “We shall continue to look for new freighter opportunities as we have recently done with launching new ports of Portland and Wellcamp Brisbane West.” Hong Kong – North America remains Cathay Pacific’s busiest trade lane, followed by Hong Kong – Europe, with India proving to be a strong market in recent years

Sutch tells ACW: “IntraAsia is a growing market and given the number of widebody passenger services we offer we have room to grow in this key sector.” He believes the growing domestic markets in China and India, and the development of South East Asia will provide a base for air cargo to grow in the future.

Sutch says: “At CX we believe in operational excellence, handling efficiency, network and frequency spread and a combination between freighter capacity and belly.” Across the network, electronic consumer goods have remained popular from Asia to North America and Europe, while mail driven by e-commerce and perishables have registered strong growth. Sutch says perishable demand is coming from China with good growth from North America, Australia and Europe. Outsized cargo is also performing well, with ExpertLift product. Sutch comments: “Although hard to predict this market it has been strong in recent months and we expect our expertise in this area will set us well for future growth on 2017.”

Lynne Sladky, AP) Fliers faced significant flight disruptions in Fort Lauderdale Friday after operations were halted following a shooting in a Terminal 2 baggage claim area of the airport. The incident left five people dead and eight people injured. Details of the incident were still unfolding Friday afternoon, but officials at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport warned at 2:45 p.m. ET that the airport â€œis currently closed and will be for an extended period of time.â€?

Delta, which operates out of Terminal 2, said late Friday that it expected flight disruptions in Fort Lauderdale to continue into Saturday. The airline cancelled all flights out of Fort Lauderdale on Friday and delayed Saturday flights until after 9 a.m. While the airport may reopen, Terminal 2 will remain closed through Saturday evening, the airline said in a statement posted on its website. The shooter arrived in Fort Lauderdale on a Delta flight after traveling from Alaska. At the baggage claim, he retrieved a gun from his checked luggage, federal officials said. "Employees on the ground in Fort Lauderdale are making every effort to assist customers in the airport while the investigation is ongoing," Delta said. "The airline is working closely with local law enforcement to assist customers, friends and family members of those affected by the tragic event." Delta issued a waiver for customers traveling to or from Fort Lauderdale to change their travel plans free of penalty. Customers can check the status of their flight at delta.com. Passengers ticketed to fly from the airport on Friday might want to contact their airlines to try to be rebooked on flights from other nearby airports like Miami or West Palm Beach. Unfortunately for fliers, phone lines at most airlines are already likely to be busy as poor weather wreaks havoc on schedules elsewhere in the country.

It said that -limited seats available on a first come, first serve basis. National carrier Air India has again introduced special fares under Republic Day offer, matching Rajdhani Express’s AC II ticket prices on select domestic sectors on economy class tickets. Air India’s offer is open for booking till April 10, 2017 and Air India's offer is open for is applicable on travel between January 26, 2017 booking till April 10, 2017 and April 30, 2017. Under this offer, Air India said tickets have to be purchased 20 days or more in advance of the journey date. Air India said the lowest fare under this offer starts from Rs. 1610, which is for Delhi-Jammu route. Among other routes covered under Air India offer, Delhi-Mumbai fares start from Rs. 2,401, DelhiBengaluru Rs. 2,952 and Delhi-Chennai Rs. 3,100. Air India did not disclose the number of seats on offer under this scheme. It said that “limited seats available on a first come, first serve basis.” National carrier Air India once again brings the joy of booking Air tickets at the price of Rajdhani Express 2nd AC. Passengers travelling on select domestic sectors in the economy class can avail this exclusive offer," the airline said in a statement.

"Passengers booking their tickets under this scheme can reach their destination at the same cost of Rajdhani Express in much lesser time," it added. Last year, Air India had floated a limited period scheme to fly unconfirmed passengers of Rajdhani trains at the fares matching with the AC first class ticket prices. But tickets could be booked only four hours prior to the flight departure under that scheme. Air Indiaâ€™s latest comes in the wake of a fare war raging in the skies. Air Indiaâ€™s rivals GoAir, IndiGo, AirAsia India and Jet Airways , among others, are also currently offering discounted fares to lure flyers. Discounted fares from airlines have been the reason behind strong growth seen in domestic air travel. According to aviation regulator DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation), the number of passengers carried by airlines in the Indian market from January to November 2016 jumped 23 per cent to 903 lakh.

worldairlinenews.com Boeing completely drops its long-standing customer codes for all aircraft types Boeing has been moving towards droping its long-standing tradition of using customer codes (i.e. United = 22, American = 23, Lufthansa = 30 as examples) as part of the official aircraft designations (757-222, 737-823, 747-830 etc.) since the Boeing 707. However with the introduction of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which was first Boeing type to drop the customer codes (they are simply 787-8s, 787-9s etc.), Boeing has been moving towards a more simplier method of officially designating its aircraft. Now a new method has been adopted by the manufacturer and is being carried forward with all new aircraft including the upcoming Boeing 737 MAX. According to the Puget Sound – Boeing Test Flights blog; “Boeing will no longer use customer codes on the 737, 747, 767, 777 lines bringing them in alignment with the 737 MAX and 787 lines. These changes have already been made on the FAA Certificates. The changes are effective with the following Line numbers for each respective Production Line. 737 Line Number 6082 onward will not have a customer code in the designation – for example Southwest’s new 737-8 N8519R is officially a Boeing 737-800 (msn 36910) (not a 737-8H4). 747 Line Number 1534 onward will not have a customer code in the designation (instead it will use the 747-8F or 747-8I designation).

767 Line Number 1102 onward will not have a customer code in the designation – for example FedEx’s new 767-3 N144FE (msn 42726) is now officially a Boeing 767-300F. 777 Line Number 1422 onward will not have a customer code in the designation – for example United’s new 777-3 N2332U is officially a Boeing 777-300ER (msn/ln 62643/1461).
