Kuwait Airways flight involved in bird strike incident A Kuwait Airways aircraft damaged its engine blades after a bird strike during a take-off from Kuwait International. The Aviation Herald website, which reports flight incidents, said the incident involved a Kuwait Airways A320 flight KU513 to Tehran Imam Khomeini International. The flight crew checked the parameters following the bird strike and continued on its course to Tehran after no problems were detected. The aircraft landed safely at Tehran International airport, but was stranded on the runway after a post flight inspection revealed damage to the engine fan blades, preventing crew from making the return flight.

Qatar Air Confirms $2.16 Billion Boeing Order Qatar Airways and Boeing have confirmed an order for six aircraft in a deal worth USD$2.16 billion at list prices. The order, for two 747-8 Freighters and four 777300ERs, had previously been included on Boeing‟s order list as from an unidentified customer. Qatar Air currently operates a fleet of 20 freighter aircraft, including two 747-400Fs. The 747-8Fs are the first order it has placed for that type. The 777-300ERs will join a fleet of 35 currently in service with the Doha-based carrier.

Ethiopian Airlines signs codeshare deal with #Brazil‟s #Azul Ethiopian Airlines can, effective 01st of October this year, place its code in Azul‟s operations from São Paulo (Guarulhos( to Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Goiania, Porto Alegre, Cuiabá, Foz do Iguaçu and Florianopolis. The routes offer fast and convenient connections for customers leaving Addis Ababa, Ethiopia‟s capital, to São Paulo. However, the agreement works reciprocally which allowing passengers from both airlines to enjoy connectivity through their respective hubs, opening up a wide range of African destinations for Azul clients. Ethiopian Airlines currently flies to more than 100 international passenger and cargo destinations in 5 continents, out of which 55 are in Africa. Azul, in turn, concentrates its two largest distribution centers in São Paulo (Viracopos) and Belo Horizonte with more than 200 departures for more than 80 Brazilian destinations. More airlines cut fares for UAE flyers Dubai: More airlines have slashed their airfares, and this time the special rates are targeted at UAE flyers who plan to travel to the Philippines, India and other Asian destinations in time for the Christmas or Diwali season. The special fares, most of them priced below Dh1,000 for return flights, are up for grabs for only a very limited period but they‟re valid for trips either until the end of this year or early 2018, depending on the carrier. With the peak summer travel period already over, airlines are lowering the cost of airfares in a bid to stimulate demand. Only more than a week ago, flydubai announced it has reduced its ticket prices across a number of routes. Among the latest to cut prices, Cebu Pacific is giving travellers a chance to book a Dubai to Manila flight for only Dh469, with the return flight costing as low as 5,999 pesos (Dh434), enabling travellers to save more than half the regular ticket cost. Flyers have until September 27 to secure a seat and the fare is valid for trips starting from November 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018. “The Middle East fares are in time for the peak season when our Filipinos based in the region come home to the Philippines. Hence, we encourage people to book flights early to avail of great value fares,” Charo Logarta lagamon, director for corporate communications at Cebu Pacific, told Gulf News.

To avail themselves of the money-saving deals, flyers have to book from September 24 to September 28, 2017 and fly until December 10, 2017. Travel tends to slow down at this time of year, when most residents have returned to the UAE after a long summer break. “This is the time of year when UAE residents have gone back from their annual vacation,” said Premjit BAngara, general manager for travel at Sharaf Travel Services. “Bookings, however, usually pick up around mid-November to December.”
