استضافت شركة مصر للطٌران طلبة مدرسة "سانت فاتٌما" القسم األمرٌكى ،تحت رعاٌة كابتن شرٌف عزت ،رئٌس شركة الخطوط الجوٌة ،فى إطار برنامج مسافر المستقبل وقاموا بجولة تعرٌفٌة للمنشآت ومنها شركة مصر للطٌران للصٌانة واألعمال الفنٌة. وقام الوفد الطالبى بزٌارة هنجر 8000وورشة المحركات والمخازن الفنٌة لقطع غٌار الطائرات وقامت اإلدارة العامة للعالقات العامة واإلعالم بشركة الصٌانة بتقدٌم الهداٌا التذكارٌة للطلبة الذٌن استمعوا لمحاضرة عن صناعة الطٌران المدنى ودور الشركة الوطنٌة فى خدمة المجتمع من كابتن شرٌف عزت فى مكتبه بالمجمع اإلدارى لمصر للطٌران.

مصر للطٌران تنقل 3440معتمرا على متن 16رحلة جوٌة مإمن التهامً
سٌرت الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران ،خالل الـ 24ساعة الماضٌة 16 ،رحلة جوٌة إلى األراضً المقدسة لنقل 3آالف و 440معتمر ألداء مناسك العمرة. وقال مصدر مطلع :إن الشركة سٌرت 10رحالت جوٌة إلى مطار جدة ،كما سٌرت أٌضا 6رحالت إلى مطار المدٌنة المنورة ،حٌث أقلعت 5رحالت جوٌة من مطار القاهرة ،بٌنما أقلعت رحلة واحدة من مطار برج العرب ،لٌصل إجمالً عدد الرحالت التً تسٌرها الشركة الٌوم إلى 16رحلة جوٌة.

أكثر من 5آالف معتمر ٌغادرون إلى األراضى المقدسة كتب محمد طنطاوى أكد مصدر مالحى بمطار القاهرة الدولى ،أن الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران سٌرت خالل الـ 24ساعة الماضٌة 16رحلة جوٌة إلى األراضى المقدسة لنقل 3آالف و 440معتمرا ألداء مناسك العمرة.
وقال المصدر ،إن الشركة سٌرت 10رحالت جوٌة إلى مطار جدة ،وأقلعت 8رحالت جوٌة من مطار القاهرة بٌنما أقلعت رحلتان من مطار برج العرب باإلسكندرٌة. وأضاف أن الشركة سٌرت أٌضا 6رحالت إلى مطار المدٌنة المنورة ،حٌث أقلعت 5 رحالت جوٌة من مطار القاهرة ،بٌنما أقلعت رحلة واحدة من مطار برج العرب ،لٌصل إجمالى عدد الرحالت التى تسٌرها الشركة الٌوم 16رحلة جوٌة.

أقلعت من مطار القاهرة الدولى خالل الـ 24ساعة الماضٌة؛ 81رحلة دولٌة تابعة لشركة "مصر للطٌران" ،وعلى متنها 8آالف و 421راك ًبا ،من مختلف الجنسٌات. وأفاد مصدر مالحى ،بؤن معظم رحالت "مصر للطٌران" شهدت انتظا ًما فى مواعٌد اإلقالع حسب جدول التشغٌل المقرر .وأوضح المصدر أن طائرات الشركة نقلت ركابها للعدٌد من العواصم العربٌة والعالمٌة.

108طائرة مصرٌة تصل القاهرة وعلى متنها أكثر من 8أالف راكب كتب محمد طنطاوى وصلت إلى مطار القاهرة الدولى ،خالل الـ 24ساعة الماضٌة 108 ،رحلة تابعة للشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران ،قادمة من المدن الداخلٌة المصرٌة والعواصم العربٌة والعالمٌة. وأفاد مصدر مالحى ،إن طائرات الشركة نقلت 8أالف و 980راكبا من مختلف الجنسبات ،ووصلت جمٌعها بانتظام حسب جدول التشغٌل المقرر. وأوضح المصدر أنه تم تسٌٌر 78رحلة دولٌة من المطارات والمدن العالمٌة والعربٌة الى مصر ،بٌنما تم تسٌٌر 33رحلة من المدن والمطارات الداخلٌة المصرٌة.

استضافت مصر للطٌران اجتماع اللجنة التنفٌذٌة التاسعة والسبعٌن لالتحاد العربً للنقل الجوي (اآلكو) ،والتً عقدت بالقاهرة هذا األسبوع برئاسة المهندس صالح بن ناصر الجاسر مدٌر عام الخطوط الجوٌة العربٌة السعودٌة ،وقرر أعضاء اللجنة التنفٌذٌة استضافة مصر للطٌران لفاعلٌات الجمعٌة العمومٌة رقم 51لالتحاد العربً للنقل الجوي بالقاهرة العام القادم بعد غٌاب 8سنوات ،حٌث عقدت اخر جمعٌة فً اكتوبر ،2010كما وافق أعضاء اللجنة أٌضا ً على قبول عضوٌة كل من SaudiGulf Airlinesوشركة Express AirCargoالتونسٌة كؤعضاء منتسبٌن لالتحاد. وصرح صفوت مسلم رئٌس الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران ،تمكن االتحاد خالل الفترة الماضٌة من تجاوز العدٌد من مراحل التطوٌر ،من خالل تفعٌل خطط استراتٌجٌة وبرامج تنفٌذٌة ،ساهمت فً تخطً عدد من التحدٌات التً تواجه شركات الطٌران العربٌة وتعوق تقدمها ،فضالً عن مناقشة العدٌد من المحاور الهامة والرئٌسٌة ،فٌما ٌخدم صناعة النقل الجوي فً المنطقة العربٌة وكذلك االستراتٌجٌات والقوانٌن الدولٌة . وأضاف مسلم ،أنه تم مناقشة آخر تطورات سٌاسة خفض االنبعاثات من خالل تطبٌق "نظام تعوٌض الكربون للمنظمة الدولٌة للطٌران المدنً" ،والتً ٌتم تنفٌذها تحت مظلة منظمة اإلٌكاو() ،ICAOباإلضافة إلى التؤكٌد على أهمٌة التشرٌعات والقوانٌن الخاصة بسالمة الركاب ،كما تناول االجتماع ما تم تطبٌقه مإخراً من قبل سلطات الطٌران األمرٌكٌة والبرٌطانٌة من حظر حمل األجهزة اإللكترونٌة داخل الطائرة ،وإلزام وضعها مع الحقائب ،باإلضافة إلى االتفاقٌات التً وقعت مإخراً مع عدد من الجامعات الخارجٌة ، بشؤن تقدٌم منح دراسٌة ودورات تدرٌبٌة بما ٌرفع من كفاءة أداء العنصر البشري من العاملٌن بالشركات األعضاء باألكو .

Egypt pitches for more travellers from India as tourism picks up A string of violent incidents in the past six years have dealt a serious blow to Egypt’s tourism sector, but there has been an upswing in the number of visitors owing to the improved security situation and various steps taken by the government, a visiting tourism official has said. ―It is undeniable that political turbulence, terrorism and airline disasters have affected the tourism industry, but times are changing now as the security condition is improving and we are taking all kinds of measures,‖ Egyptian Tourist Authority )ETA( Chairman Hesham El Demery told IANS here. The IS bombing of Russian Metrojet Flight 9268 in October 2015 over the Sinai Peninsula killed 224 people and led to Russia banning travel to Egypt. This led many European governments to ban flights from the Egyptian resort of Sharm el Sheikh. Gradually, these bans were lifted, with only two countries — Russia and the UK — retaining the restrictions to this day. ―We have good cooperation with the two countries. We respect their decision of maintaining the ban and are working hard to comply with their requirements,‖ Demery said. Also watch: ―Safety and security of citizens can’t be compromised with. The fact that others have lifted the ban is evidence that circumstances are improving and we have been able to build trust and confidence,‖ he added. However, the UK has not banned travel to Cairo and Luxor, known for their architectural marvels like centuries-old pyramids and magnificent temples in a country that is home to one of the world’s oldest civilisational heritages. ―Earlier, Russia used to provide more than three million travellers every year and the business from Europe used to form around 75 to 80 per cent of the total,‖ Demery said. ―There hasn’t been any decline )in tourism) per se but, yes, we can say that in comparison with the year 2010 when 14.3 million tourists visited Egypt, the situation is surely worse,‖ he added. The number of Indians travelling to Egypt was around 115,000 in 2015.

(2) Demery said that Egypt has recorded an increase of over 30 per cent in arrivals and 185 per cent increase in tourists from India last year. ―This much doesn’t fit our ambitions. We can do more and more to enhance the market here. A big reason for expanding and promoting Egyptian tourism in India is the commonality in culture that we share,‖ he said. He said that while the UK, Germany, Italy and Russia were the top source markets, India too is a significant market. ―We have been monitoring the Indian market well. Egypt wouldn’t have made so many efforts to broaden it here had there been no appetite,‖ he said. Demery noted that between 2011 and 2016, there was an average of around seven million international tourists visiting the country. Travel bans brought down the number to 5.3 million in 2015. ―We started experiencing a business pick-up in September last year and, of course, European countries started lifting the ban in January and February 2017,‖ Demery said. But then, on April 9, two bomb blasts struck Coptic churches, killing at least 47 people as members of the country’s largest religious minority celebrated Palm Sunday. Despite that, Demery felt, the situation is now returning to normal and Egypt is employing strategies and multinational trends to revive its image in the world. Argentine football star Lionel Messi visited Egypt in February, specifically to promote it as a medical tourism destination for Hepatitis C patients. Pope Francis also became a part of the Egyptian tourism’s revival programme by joining an international conference on peace in capital Cairo in April. ―We’d like others to speak about us to create a brand perception. Celebrities are being invited to the country to change the perception that has been created over the past few years,‖ Demery said.

New Etihad boss to rethink strategy after Alitalia dream fails DUBAI/MILAN/PARIS: The naming of a new boss at Etihad Airways presents the Gulf carrier with an opportunity to rethink its aggressive expansion strategy after the failure of minority-owned Alitalia underlined the big barriers to global growth. Ray Gammell was appointed interim CEO this week, days after Alitalia sought bankruptcy protection with $3.3 billion of debt. He replaces veteran boss James Hogan. Hogan’s strategy was to buy up minority stakes in myriad airlines but the struggles of that strategy, most recently with Alitalia, are emblematic of a quandary peculiar to the industry. The path to growth for airlines often lies in gaining access to rivals’ routes. Yet in the EU, which mainly operates as one nation in aviation, foreigners cannot majority-own an airline. At Alitalia, the lack of full control meant that Etihad could not deal effectively with labor problems. Since 2011, Abu Dhabi’s state-owned Etihad has spent billions of dollars buying minority stakes from Europe to Australia as it races to catch up with regional rivals Emirates and Qatar Airways. Alitalia was Etihad’s eighth and most high-profile bet. But the €560 million ($609 million) investment lies in tatters, placing Hogan’s wider strategy under the microscope after staff overwhelmingly rejected its latest restructuring plans. Now the future of Etihad’s other leading investment, in Air Berlin, is also in doubt as the Gulf carrier pursues a strategy review that began last year. Like Alitalia, the German carrier has made big losses and it said two weeks ago it was seeking a new partner, which could include a new investor. An Etihad spokesman said its review was ongoing but declined to comment on how its strategy might change or the impact of Alitalia’s failure on its global plans. But a senior source at the Gulf carrier said lessons would be learned from the Italian investment and they would play a role in shaping future strategy. .

(2) Etihad’s strategy has allowed it to cut costs by pooling items like airplane procurement while offering a larger network; it says it brings together 600 destinations and over 700 aircraft. Hogan’s “approach to partnerships did not pan out, but a few of his principles are still valid,” said Will Horton, a senior analyst at Australian aviation consultancy CAPA. Etihad’s efforts to grow through minority stakes have at times been compared to Swissair’s failed “Hunter” strategy of the 1990s. Swissair’s buying binge, often acquiring stakes in ailing airlines, contributed to huge losses which eventually saw it grounded in 2001 and sold to Germany’s Lufthansa in 2005. Hogan has always rejected the comparison, saying Etihad was doing things differently to Swissair and had demonstrated it could control costs. Etihad and its rivals have demonstrated spectacular growth but are increasingly pressured by a slowing Gulf economy due to relatively low oil prices. They have chosen different strategies to sidestep the regulatory dilemma governing foreign ownership and pursue global expansion. Qatar Airways, like many other carriers, has entered one of three global alliances. These give some access to other carriers’ traffic rights without breaking ownership rules but allow only limited control over route-planning and costs. Dubai’s Emirates, by contrast, mainly operates alone — an approach that gives it control of over its network and costs but also means it carries all the risk. The Middle East’s largest airline reported a drop in annual profit on Thursday for the first time in five years. As the youngest of the three major Middle Eastern carriers, 14-year-old Etihad has looked to catch up and followed a third path of buying into other airlines to expand its reach. When Hogan rescued Alitalia in 2014 after months of negotiations, he had been encouraged by two reformist prime ministers, Enrico Letta and his successor Matteo Renzi. Letta flew to Abu Dhabi to help clinch the deal. “When Etihad arrived in 2014, we thought this time it would finally work, that this was it,” said Alitalia pilot Stefano Di Cesare of the Fit-Cisl union. Yet, Italian industry leaders say Etihad underestimated the country’s tangled politics and chronic labor strife.

(3) Italian executives, officials and unions said in interviews with Reuters that alienating Alitalia’s workforce was among a series of missteps that ended Etihad’s Italian dream. Many also say Etihad underestimated the blistering growth of low-cost carriers Ryanair and easyJet. Without a majority stake, Etihad’s influence was limited despite being the largest single investor on 49 percent. And despite the lure of Italy’s important tourism market, it was forced to watch Alitalia’s efficient rivals mop up the benefits. “There is no doubt that the idea to manage the company from Abu Dhabi was a very serious mistake,” Italian Industry Minister Carlo Calenda told Parliament last week. The Etihad spokesman said Alitalia had been in financial trouble for decades and that its investment was welcomed wholeheartedly in Italy. Etihad believed the new restructuring plan developed by Alitalia’s management would have addressed its problems, he added. In Germany too, Etihad had seen Air Berlin, its first investment in 2011, as the door to unrestricted access in a market where it has limited traffic rights with its own planes. But that airline has seen losses widen to a record €782 million in 2016. For now, Etihad continues to provide funding. Air Berlin says Etihad has granted another loan facility of €350 million and a letter of support for at least 18 months. But industry sources say Etihad could exit Air Berlin by seeking a deal with German flag carrier Lufthansa, with which Etihad is keen to work. Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr said on Friday he had held talks with Abu Dhabi about the future of Air Berlin, but that it was up to the emirate to resolve Air Berlin’s €1.2 billion debt problem, which also prevents Lufthansa buying it. Other investments such as Air Serbia and Air Seychelles have been more successful. There, Etihad was given hands-on management control and benefited from close diplomatic ties. Even as the carrier picks up the pieces of its European adventure, Etihad faces its own restructuring that sources close to the company say has seen near-daily redundancies. This may also weigh on the strategic decision facing Gammell, as he takes up his interim post this week, followed in coming months by a permanent successor to Hogan

Emirates flight diverted to Larnaca after woman went into labour An Emirates plane en route to Paris from Dubai was diverted to Larnaca airport because a French woman on board had gone into labour, the Cyprus News Agency reported on Friday. The pilot had received permission to land the plane in Larnaca, but the woman had already given birth upon landing. At around 7pm, the woman, her husband, and their two children were taken by ambulance to the Larnaca general hospital, where mother and baby were admitted for observation. Another French woman on board had suffered an epileptic seizure and was forced to disembark with her husband. Revealed: How much Emirates pilots earn Dubai’s Emirates airline will hold pilot recruitment drive in South Africa, Bahrain and Singapore this month. The airline operates one of the largest fleets in the industry with 259 aircraft, comprising Airbus A380 and Boeing 777. With more than 200 aircraft on order, it aims to extend its network, which already stands at 155 destinations in 83 countries and six continents. At present, it has more than 4,000 pilots from about 100 nationalities. ―Emirates regularly holds information roadshows globally to recruit pilots to meet our growing operational requirements,‖ a company spokesperson told Arabian Business. According to the airline, captains of A380 and B777 are offered a total monthly tax-free salary of $16,013 (AED58,770). This includes $11,633 (AED42,695) a month basic salary plus average flying pay, and $4,380 (AED16,075) a month housing allowance, or company provided housing. Captains are given 42 day annual leave, global primary and secondary education allowance, life and accident insurance, medical and dental coverage and loss of license insurance. Upon leaving the company, they are entitled to an end of service gratuity (for an employment period of less than 5 years) or provident fund payment - a long-term savings plan in which the employee contributes five percent of basic salary whilst the company contributes 12 percent (paid out after five years of service).

Crew onboard Mumbai-Bangkok Jet Airways flight suspects tailstrike; turns back A suspected tailstrike on Friday morning, led to a Bangkokbound Jet Airways flight to return immediately to Mumbai, mere minutes after take-off. It was rescheduled to fly at 12.45pm. According to The Times of India, a spokesperson from Jet Airways said that an air turn was executed by the crew onboard flight 9W 70, which took off from Mumbai at 8:10am, after they feared a tailstrike had occurred. The spokesperson further said that the Jet Airways Engineering team and ground personnel inspected the plane after deplaning the 180 passengers and 8 crew members. A tailstrike happens when the rear empennage of an aircraft strikes the runway usually during takeoff. × This can happen during takeoff of a fixed-wing aircraft if the pilot pulls up too rapidly, leading to the rear end of the fuselage touching the runway.

Boeing Restarts 737 MAX Flight Testing Boeing has restarted flight testing of the 737 MAX aircraft after regulators approved resumption of flights. Boeing had suspended flights after a fault was found in an engine part. CFM International, which makes all 737 engines, appeared to suggest that testing of the turbine discs might take weeks, but the FAA seems to have been reassured enough to allow flight testing to continue. Boeing had been due to deliver the first 737 MAX 8 to Indonesia’s Malindo Air, possibly as early as next week. The flight ban put that schedule in doubt. Norwegian Air and Southwest Airlines are also due to receive 737 MAXs over the next few months.
