استقبل مطار القاهرة الدولى ،خالل الـ 24ساعة الماضٌة 6 ،رحالت مصرٌة قادمة من دول الكوٌت واألردن ولبنان ،فى إطار تنفٌذ خطة مصر للطٌران بتسٌٌر رحالت إضافٌة لدولة الكوٌت إلعادة المصرٌٌن العاملٌن فى قطر والراغبٌن فى قضاء إجازاتهم فى مصر. وأفاد مصدر مسئول بمصر للطٌران ،أن الشركة سٌرت 3رحالت من مطار الكوٌت ورحلتٌن من عمان ورحلة واحدة من بٌروت بنسبة امتالء بلغت .%98 وتقوم مصر للطٌران بتسٌٌر رحالت إضافٌة إلى دولة الكوٌت إلعادة المصرٌٌن العاملٌن فى دولة قطر ،بعد قرار دول الرباعى العربى بوقف الرحالت المباشرة من وإلى الدوحة. الجدٌر بالذكر أن مطارات الكوٌت وعمان وبٌروت هى أقرب نقطة للدوحة، وٌقوم المصرٌون العاملون فى قطر من الراغبٌن فى العودة لقضاء إجازاتهم بالسفر إلى هذه الدول وتنقلهم مصر للطٌران إلى القاهرة.

وخالل المناسبة تم تقدٌم درع تذكارى من مصر للطٌران ألسرة الفقٌد تقدٌرا لجهوده المتمٌزة التى بذلها خالل فترة عمله بمصر للطٌران كمدٌر إدارة العملٌات بشركة إكسبرٌس منذ عام 2006ثم تولٌه مدٌر عام العملٌات ونائبا لرئٌس مجلس اإلدارة إلى أن تولى رئاسة الشركة فى عام 2010وحتى وفاته عام .2018 وأعرب الحضور عن بالغ تعازٌهم ألسرة الكابتن حلمى رزق الذى ٌعد من القٌادات المشرفة التى اتسمت بدماثة الخلق واإلخالص فى العمل.

استقبل الطٌار أحمد عادل رئٌس مجلس إدارة الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران ،وفد شركة بوٌنج العالمٌة بمقر الشركة بالقاهرة ،جاءت الزٌارة فً إطار التعاون المتبادل بٌن الشركتٌن والتً تمتد ألكثر من 50عاماً ،وقد تناول اللقاء عددا من الموضوعات الهامة على رأسها خطة تحدٌث وتطوٌر أسطول مصر للطٌران . ٌذكر أن مصر للطٌران تعاقدت مؤخرا علً أكبر صفقة لتحدٌث أسطولها الجوي من بٌنها 6طائرات من طراز البوٌنج B787-9التً تلقب بطائرة األحالم والتً من المقرر استالم أول طائرة منها اعتباراً من الربع األول للعام القادم .2019 وفً السٌاق ذاته ،قام الوفد بتهنئة الطٌار أحمد عادل علً تولٌه رئاسة الشركة وإهدائه درعا تذكارٌا من شركة بوٌنج تقدٌرا لعالقاتها الوطٌدة مع مصر للطٌران.

1 www.flightglobal.com Passengers with bags slowed WestJet 737 evacuation: TSB The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has again called attention to the problem of passengers carrying luggage during emergency aircraft evacuations. Passengers on a WestJet Boeing 737-800 slowed an evacuation earlier this year by bringing bags, says the TSB, marking the latest in a string of similar incidents that caught safety investigators' attention. "Numerous passengers brought carry-on baggage with them, which slowed down the evacuation process," says the TSB's report into the 5 January fire and emergency evacuation of WestJet flight 2425 at Toronto Pearson International airport. "Investigations into several other occurrences that involved emergency evacuations found that, as in this occurrence, passengers often attempt to retrieve their carry-on baggage during an emergency evacuation," says the report, released 11 July. After landing at Toronto, the WestJet pilots temporarily stopped the 737 (registration C-FDMB) behind and perpendicular to a Sunwing Airlines 737-800 (registration CFPRP). At that time, tow operators employed by Swissport International began pushing back the Sunwing aircraft, which was empty other than a maintenance technician in the cockpit. The Sunwing 737's auxiliary power unit (APU) was running, the TSB says. The Sunwing 737's tail struck the WestJet 737's right wing, and "a large ball of fire erupted", says the TSB. The WestJet pilots ordered an evacuation.

The TSB found that Swissport failed to follow its procedures by not using "wing walkers" to guide the Sunwing aircraft. But the board also says the incident highlights the problem of passengers bringing carry-on luggage during evacuations. Although WestJet's flight attendants told passengers during the evacuation not to take bags, some passengers took them anyway, the TSB says. It notes that WestJet's pre-flight safety briefings do not address the luggage-during-evacuation issue, the TSB adds. But neither do other airlines' briefings, says the TSB, which conducted a survey of safety briefings. "None of the briefings on the observed flights provided this type of instruction to the passengers at any point before or during the flight," the TSB's report says. The TSB addressed the same issue in 2007, when it recommended that Transport Canada require that safety briefings include instructions not to carry luggage during evacuations. That recommendation responded to the August 2005 overrun of an Air France Airbus A340 at Toronto – an incident in which passengers also evacuated with carry-on bags. Transport Canada subsequently addressed the issue in voluntary guidance, but has not taken regulatory action, TSB says. The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has also addressed the same concern. In response to a 2016 evacuation of an American Airlines 767-200 in Chicago, the NTSB in February recommended that the Federal Aviation Administration study the issue of luggage being carried during evacuations. The FAA said it would respond to the recommendation by April 2019.

www.ch-aviation.com India's Vistara to add fifty A320neo Family jets, ten B787s Vistara (UK, Delhi Int'l) has committed to adding up to fifty A320neo Family and ten B787 jets to its fleet between 2019 and 2023. The Indian full-service carrier said in a statement that it had signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Airbus for thirteen firmordered A320neo and A321neo, with options for an additional seven A320neo Family jets. In addition, Vistara will lease another thirty-seven A320neo Family jets from various lessors. With the ordered and leased aircraft together, Vistara will add a total of fifty A320neo Family aircraft to its fleet between 2019 and 2023 all of which will be powered by CFM International LEAP 1A engines. "Vistara will use the aircraft to densify its domestic network and to support its international operations planned for later this year," it said. Vistara's LOI with Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) comprises six firm-ordered B787-9s and purchase rights for four more B787 Family jets. The aircraft will be powered by General Electric GEnx-1B engines and are scheduled to be delivered between 2020 and 2021. The B787-9s are intended for use on mediumhaul and long-haul international routes. ―India’s position as the world’s fastest-growing domestic aviation market and its impressive growth in air passenger traffic that has more than doubled over the last decade makes us confident of our aggressive plans for domestic expansion and international foray," Leslie Thng, CEO, Vistara, said. A joint venture between India's Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, Vistara operates thirteen A320ceo and eight A320neo with a single outstanding A320neo due in September this year. www.ch-aviation.com ACE Belgium Freighters to launch in early 4Q18 ACE Belgium Freighters (Liège) is planning to commence cargo services out of Liège in Belgium in October 2018, using a single B747-400(F), Air Cargo News has reported. The cargo start-up has earlier applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for exemption authority and a foreign air carrier permit. It plans to operate on behalf of other airlines to points in the United States including New York JFK, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Chicago O'Hare, subject to the details of the wet-leasing contracts. The carrier is also looking at other American destinations, as well as points in China and Africa. The former could prove difficult due to restrictions imposed by the Chinese authorities, but ACE hopes that as a Belgian carrier it would have a better access to Northern African airspace than its Israeli parent. The maiden B747-400(F) for ACE will be secured from the Belgian unit's parent, Israel's CAL Cargo Air Lines (5C, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion). According to Air Cargo News, the unit will be 4X-ICC (msn 24227), which will be registered in Belgium under ACE's Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) after the redelivery to Liège. ACE is currently undergoing the application for its AOC. It plans to add a second B747-400 in 2019. According to the ch-aviation fleets module, CAL currently operates three active B747-400(F) with a fourth unit of the type undergoing pre-delivery maintenance. The Israeli carrier already operates 9 weekly departures out of Liège, which is its main European hub.

Tambo) placed into Business Rescue after the carrier's leadership gave it a written undertaking that it would immediately begin the process of seeking out a strategic partner. Given SAA's dire financial standing, the union had warned in April that it would seek to have the state-owned carrier placed into the South African equivalent of US Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as the only means of saving it. However, in a statement issued on Tuesday, July 10, Solidarity said it had withdrawn its bid given SAA's chief executive Vuyana Jarana's pledge to immediately seek out a partner despite previous statements that this would only be done once the airline holding had been fully restructured. ―In view of SAA’s letter in which comprehensive undertakings are given, Solidarity has decided to suspend its application for business rescue for the time being. It is difficult to immediately proceed with litigation if the other party has conceded in writing to most of our demands,‖ Solidarity Chief Executive Dirk Hermann said. According to Hermann, Jarana said that in view of the pressure to fund SAA, the South African government, the SAA board and management had agreed to begin the search for a strategic partner immediately. ―We are not naïve – SAA’s written undertakings are sufficient to suspend the application. However, we are very sceptical about the implementation of these undertakings. We have confidence in Mr Jarana’s good intentions, and we will give him the benefit of the doubt for the present. However, we have less confidence in the shareholder’s political will to make radical decisions on private ownership of SAA," Hermann added. Should SAA fail to honour its undertakings, and should its predicament worsen, Hermann said Solidarity would immediately proceed with the application for business rescue. The union claims that among those that have advised it on its case include former Mango Airlines (JE, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) and interim SAA CEO Nico Bezuidenhout (now CEO of Fastjet (FN, Dar-esSalaam)) as well as Monwabisi Kalawe, another former CEO of SAA

www.ch-aviation.com jetBlue to order 60+60 A220s, converts A320neo to A321neo jetBlue Airways (B6, New York JFK) has announced it has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the Airbus-controlled C Series Aircraft Limited Partnership (CSALP) for sixty firm-ordered A220-300s – formerly CS300s – with options for an additional sixty aircraft of the type. In a statement, the New York-based budget carrier said the first five firm-ordered aircraft would deliver in 2020 followed by four in 2021, eight in 2022, 19 in 2023, 22 in 2024, and two in 2025. The optioned jets, if exercized, will arrive from 2025 through to 2028. Collectively, the Pratt & Whitney PW1500Gpowered A220s will replace jetBlue's existing fleet of sixty EMB-190s whose flying will be reduced from 2020 onwards before being phased out entirely by around 2025. "The aircraft’s range and seating capacity will add flexibility to jetBlue’s network strategy as it targets growth in its focus cities, including options to schedule it for transcontinental flying," it said. "The aircraft also opens the door to new markets and routes that would have been unprofitable with jetBlue’s existing fleet." jetBlue also has the right to convert certain aircraft to the smaller A220-100 (former CS100) if it chooses. Collectively, jetBlue's A220 aircraft will be assembled on Airbus's Mobile, AL production line. Aside from the A220 order, jetBlue said it has also converted an existing order with Airbus for twenty-five A320neo into larger A321neo and has also adjusted their delivery schedule. The LCC now has a total A321neo order backlog of 85 aircraft of the type, exclusive of options. Of the 85 jets, it expects 13 in 2019, 15 in 2020, 16 in 2021, 15 in 2022, 14 in 2023, and 12 in 2024

Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) has formally rebranded the C Series as the A220 after it assumed control of the product line from Bombardier (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) on July 1. During a ceremony at Toulouse Blagnac on Tuesday, July 10, the European manufacturer said that going forward, the CS100 and CS300 would now be known as the A220-100 and A220-300 respectively. ―I pay tribute to all the women and men at Bombardier and the supply chain who have strived over the past years to bring this fantastic aircraft to the world," Guillaume Faury, Airbus President Commercial Aircraft, said. "The A220 now enters a new phase in its career with all Airbus’ resources behind it to further its commercial success worldwide." Airbus Chief Executive Tom Enders hinted last week that new orders for the line, which has struggled to build a significant backlog, could be announced at the upcoming Farnborough Air Show. Airbus currently owns a 50.01% majority stake in C Series Aircraft Limited Partnership (CSALP), with Bombardier and Investissement Québec controlling around 34% and 16% respectively. Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) is in talks with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) over a possible increase in its current order for fourteen A350-900s, the first of which is now due in February 2020. Sources familiar with the talks told Reuters the new order, if placed, could potentially see the Russian carrier's A350 order backlog grow to up to 25 aircraft. Neither Aeroflot nor Airbus chose to comment on the report. Meanwhile, schedule data indicates Aeroflot will expand its Dubai services with the opening of a new daily Moscow Sheremetyevo-Dubai World Central service during the Winter 2018/19 season. The daily return flight will operate onboard B737-800 equipment and will compliment Aeroflot's existing SheremetyevoDubai Int'l daily service

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visited Eritrea this past weekend ending years of hostilities between the two countries. At the end of the visit, Abiy signed a Joint Declaration of Peace and Friendship with his Eritrean counterpart, Isaias Afwerki, in which they pledged to reopen embassies in each other's countries. Eritrea also pledged to reopen Port Assab to Ethiopian goods while Ethiopian Airlines will start daily Addis Ababa-Asmara flights from July 17 onwards. On the back of these developments, the official Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA) subsequently ran a story, based on Eritrean sources, that Ethiopian Airlines would take a 20% stake in Eritrean Airlines as part of the economic and diplomatic detente. However, the privately run Addis Standard magazine later reported that no such deal had been struck and that the EPA report had referenced "unreliable sources". Ethiopian Airlines was not immediately available for comment.

www.ainonline.com Ethiopian To Partner With OEMs On Manufacturing Base Africa’s largest airline, Ethiopian Airlines, has entered talks with global aircraft and parts manufacturers to establish an aerospace manufacturing industry in its home country. Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Tewolde GebreMariam told AIN that Ethiopian has spoken with Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, UTAS, and Safran to jointly incorporate an aerospace manufacturing company in Ethiopia. ―We are holding discussions with these global aviation giants on the possibility that we can incorporate the company together,‖ he said. ―We not only want to manufacture and supply the products, but we also want them to have a stake in the planned project.‖ Ethiopian’s MRO outfit already boasts many years of experience in maintaining aircraft and engines. ―Using our long years of MRO experience we want to establish an aerospace industry in Ethiopia that designs and manufactures various aircraft parts,‖ GebreMariam said. Ethiopian runs a small wire harness kit manufacturing facility at its main hub in Addis Ababa. The facility manufactures and supplies wire harnesses to Boeing. But now the airline hopes to establish a fullfledged aerospace manufacturing plant in the capital city, where it would manufacture wire kits, sheet metal, machine parts, and thermal blankets. Mesfin Tassew, Ethiopian COO, told AIN that Ethiopian has agreed in principle with Airbus to start manufacturing certain aircraft parts. ―It is under discussion,‖ he said. Ethiopian is also in the process of manufacturing thermal blankets used between the fuselage and cabin to maintain cabin temperature. ―We are going to start manufacturing the blanket here in Ethiopia in partnership with Boeing,‖ Tassew said. It also plans to manufacture sheet metal, machine parts and wire kits for Bombardier in partnership with Fokker. On July 5 Ethiopian Airlines Group signed a partnership agreement that calls for it to manufacture and supply seat covers, safety belts, carpets, and other interior parts to Germany’s ACM Aerospace. It also has signed a memorandum of understanding with South African aerospace engineering company Aerosaud to cooperate in manufacturing aircraft parts in Ethiopia.
