Beginning in Spring 2025, Peoria will be improving 67th Avenue between Happy Valley Road and Pinnacle Peak Road. This project will widen 67th Avenue to three travel lanes in each direction and include a raised median with dedicated turn lanes, bike lanes, curb, gutter, sidewalk, streetlights, and improved drainage.
To prepare for the improvements, APS crews are scheduled through Nov. 21, to work on either
side of 67th Avenue to trench, install conduit and relocate power lines out of the way of the planned improvements. Roads will stay open with lane or turn restrictions as needed to accommodate the work.
Road improvement work is scheduled spring 2025 through 2027. Call 602-532-6250 or visit 67thAvePeoriaAz.com.
The city of Peoria is inviting all Peoria residents to celebrate National Good Neighbor Day by nominating a neighbor who has truly gone above and beyond. These nominations are a way to recognize and celebrate those who make our neighborhoods great. Nominated neighbors will have the chance to win a gift certificate to a local business and even host a Block Party for their community!
You will be able to find nomination forms at Peoria libraries, the Community Center, Rio Vista, or peoriaaz.gov/engage. Nominations are due November 30 and the winners will be announced in midDecember.
Can you believe we are already approaching the holiday season? This is often a time for celebrations and gatherings, but it can also be a challenging time for many people in our community. In an effort to give back and specifically support veterans and their families in need this holiday season, the Peoria Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Committee is partnering with the West Valley Vet Center to collect gift cards to distribute to several veteran families in need.
The aim is to collect $2,500 dollars in gift cards for sponsored families and your help is needed! Contributions in the form of gift cards in the amount of $25 or greater (preferably to major retailers or grocery stores like Visa, Amazon, Target, Walmart, Fry's, etc.) would be so greatly appreciated. Donations from local businesses are welcomed as well!
PCC asks that all gift cards be received by Nov. 29 so there is enough time to distribute to our families in need.

BAR IS NOW OPEN FOR ADVENTURE
The Desert Bar, also known as the Nellie Saloon, in Parker, AZ opened for business on Oct. 5 for its 2024/2025 season.
If you have not yet been, you are missing one of Arizona’s most unique bar experiences. Located down a dirt road in the mountains of western Arizona, the bar has become a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.
Open on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. beginning in October and running through April, the Desert Bar offers rustic charm and cold drinks, with a stunning desert backdrop. The owner has spent decades building his sprawling desert watering hole, through a mishmash of hangout spots, terraces and historic mining and other artifacts.
The Desert Bar serves mixed drinks, canned beer, chicken and barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs and burgers. Bring cash — plastic is not accepted.
To get to the bar, head north from Parker on State Route 95 for about 5 miles, then turn right onto Cienega Springs Road. This unpaved road stretches for another 5 miles to the Desert Bar. All good things come to those who are willing to work for them. The drive on Cienega Springs Road to Desert Bar is unpaved but in reasonably good condition. There are some dips and washboard sections. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended, although the road is usually passable for carefully driven cars. Low clearance vehicles should think twice before taking on the drive. Check road conditions before you go, especially if recent weather could affect travel.

Research shows that people who consistently take sedatives, antidepressants or antipsychotic drugs are more likely to develop a sleep disorder. e Chiropractic Di erence: Check for subluxations at C1, C2 and C3. By Mike Trott, co-founder of Four Branches Bourbon
WHAT STARTED OUT OF A DESIRE TO ACQUIRE A SINGLE BARREL OF BOURBON TO REMEMBER A FALLEN FRIEND AND MARINE AND RAISE A GLASS IN HIS HONOR RESULTED IN THE CREATION OF A BOURBON COMPANY STEEPED DEEP IN AMERICAN PATRIOTIC PRIDE.
Four Branches Bourbon is the only spirit company founded by veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. I am one of the four founders, a U.S. Air Force veteran (10 years) and former CIA agent and have
been a local Peoria resident for the past 10 years.
The mission of Four Branches is to deliver exceptional bourbon to honor the sacrifices of all those who serve in the shadows and share their inspiring stories.
The other three founders also have long military careers spanning decades: Alfred “Rick” Franco (VMI Grad, former Marine Infantry Officer and former CIA Senior Contractor), Harold Underdown (former Navy SEAL and retired Command Master Chief), and Robert “RJ” Casey (former Army Special Forces current Air Force

Special Operations). Our paths had crossed many times over the years, but it wasn’t until Rick had a lightbulb moment that the four of us officially came together to create Four Branches.
Franco’s Virginia Military Institute classmate and eventual CIA colleague, Greg Wright Jr., died in service overseas and Rick repatriated Greg to his family. He’s shared that Greg was a hero – helping to save others’ lives but lost his. It was through processing this that Rick came up with the idea to blend a barrel of bourbon as a way to honor Greg and all of the other unsung heroes in our lives. We decided this message of honoring those who are important in our lives was not just for us, it was a message that others would want to share as well. Thus, we moved forward not to create just a barrel, but a business.
We enlisted the help of bourbon industry veterans to help us craft the best bourbon. The Founders Blend is the first version we have released and it has won several awards at national spirits competitions in 2024, including a Gold Medal in the Ascot Awards Competition and a Double Gold Medal at the prestigious SIP Awards. In keeping with the brand, it is a 4-grain blend at 96 proof, with an incredibly smooth taste of hazelnut, maple and cinnamon-infused orange with a long creamy finish, with notes of vanilla.
Giving back is another big part of our mission. Since launching our brand in May 2023, Four Branches has helped raise more than $370,000 for national and local veterans organizations. As veterans, we are very cognizant of the impact of selling alcohol and are working to change the narrative around drinking. Bourbon is often used to pay tribute, share a quiet moment, tell stories and bring people together. Our trademarks are “Serve
Honorably. Drink Honorably.” And we want to encourage people to “Sip to Remember,” not drink to forget.
We also want to be role models for other veterans, showing that through teamwork, other veterans and first responders can pursue a passion and launch another career after their service to country and community.
Since our launch 18 months ago, our Founders Blend has been available in 32 states for online home delivery. Since then, we have expanded our distribution network and are now available in stores, bars and restaurants in seven states (Arizona, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia). You can find specific locations under “Find Locally” on our website www.fourbranches.com and we encourage followers to sign up for our newsletter, Mail Call, for more exciting updates.
We are proud to be able to introduce our award-winning bourbon, blended and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky, to the public and share our message of honoring all those around us who are heroes, in all the ways people come together to be there for each other.
Mike Trott was born and raised in East Tennessee but enlisted in the U.S. Air Force (USAF) from Arizona in 1984. While in the USAF he served six of his 10 years in Germany assigned as a Security Forces trainer to special small teams before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall, as well as in undercover narcotics investigations. He worked as a Special Agent assigned to the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and then continued to work in the private sector in high net wealth Executive Protection. He is also the author of the nonfiction book, The Protected.

Deer Valley Unified School District is preparing to open two new schools to address anticipated population growth coming to the north valley. In September, the district’s governing board unanimously approved a recommendation from the School Facilities Oversight Board to include a new high school by 2029 and a K-8 school by 2032 in its Capital Plan.
This decision is an early step in a process that still requires qualification. District administrators are moving forward based on early indicators from a contracted demographer's report, which is expected to outline substantial student enrollment growth
in northern Phoenix, Peoria, and Glendale. The district leadership are emphasizing the importance of planning ahead.
Several large-scale housing developments are expected to drive significant increases in student numbers for Deer Valley Unified. Among these projects is the high-profile Biscuit Flats/NorthPark development near the new $40 billion Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. campus in north Phoenix. This area, currently vacant, could soon house between 9,000 to 20,000 new residential units.
These developments are in the vicinity of Carefree
Highway, west of Interstate 17, and north of State Route 303. To put the scale in perspective, Anthem currently has just over 9,000 residential units.
Some infrastructure work in these areas may begin as soon as 2025. The district also has its eye on other projects like Aloravita (1,472 units), Copperleaf (411 units), Middle Vistas (228 units), Union Park (977 units), Verdin (1,250 units), and Paseo Heights (294 units), all within Deer Valley’s boundaries. Each September, the School Facilities Oversight Board reviews Capital Plans to determine eligibility for state funding for new school projects. Deer Valley Unified hasn’t qualified for this funding in two decades, but recent growth suggests the potential for eligibility in the future, according to Migliorino.
The district’s most recent school addition was Inspiration Mountain Elementary, which opened in fall 2022 near 57th Avenue and Happy Valley Road. Currently a K-6 school, it is equipped for future expansion into a K-8 campus.
Deer Valley Unified School District serves over 33,000 students across 42 schools in northern Maricopa County, encompassing communities in north Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria, Cave Creek, and New River.
The Cobra Robotics Program won the Arizona Robotics League Championship held at Cactus High School this past weekend. This is the third year in a row Cactus Robotics has won this prestigious competition against some of the top teams across Arizona. The team is led by Adam Shroyer, a culinary teacher at Cactus High School who has supported the robotics team for many years.
This weekend’s competition was a culmination of five qualifiers where teams earned points to determine final rankings for the championship event. Cactus Robotics came into the event ranked sixth and ended up bringing home the win after going 2-0 in the finals.
The Cactus Robotics team is made up of 26 students from across the district. The team includes 20 male students, six female students and is made up four seniors and 22 underclassmen. Students have been working through the entire summer and fall to prepare for these competitions, and the entire robot was designed, fabricated and programmed by the students with the help of industry mentors.
Cactus Robotics recently won the Arizona FIRST Robotics State Championship earlier this month. Next up for the Cobras is the Beach Blitz Invitational held in Capistrano Valley, Calif. where they will match up against 42 teams from across the country.

Get ready to mix some magic with this bubbling potion experiment! Using dry ice and a few household items, you can create a frothy, foggy brew that looks straight out of a wizard’s workshop. Perfect for kids who love hands-on science with a magical twist!
• A cookie sheet or cake pan
• A tall glass of water
• Dry ice (about 2 pounds)
• Liquid dish soap
• Food coloring
MIXING THE MAGIC
1. Set Up Your Station: Place a tall glass of water in the center of your cookie sheet or cake pan. This will catch any
overflowing bubbles, keeping the mess to a minimum.
2. Add the Dry Ice: Carefully drop a small piece of dry ice into the glass of water. Instantly, you’ll see a foggy mist forming as the dry ice turns into carbon dioxide gas. Note: Avoid touching dry ice directly with your skin! It’s so cold that it can cause burns similar to frostbite, so always use gloves or tongs to handle it safely.
3. Color the Potion: Add a few drops of food coloring to the water.
4. Create the Bubbles: Squeeze some liquid dish soap into the water. In moments, bubbles will form, filling with the foggy gas and overflowing from the glass.
5. Enjoy the Fun: Watch the bubbles grow and spill over the sides, then pop them to release the mist inside!
Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide, which must be kept below -109.3 degrees Fahrenheit to remain in its solid form—that’s seriously cold! What makes dry ice unique is that it undergoes sublimation, meaning it changes directly from a solid to a gas without turning into liquid first. When you add dry ice to water, it releases carbon dioxide gas, which creates the fog you see. Adding dish soap traps the gas in bubbles, causing them to froth and foam. This fun bubbling effect is a great way to explore concepts like sublimation, density, and gas formation! It's also a bit of Halloween-style fun.

Established in 2005, All Pro Shade Concepts is dedicated to making it more comfortable to live in the Valley of the Sun. Focused exclusively on outdoor shade products, the locally owned company is dedicated to enhancing each product and service, guaranteeing an exceptional customer experience from start to finish.
Owned by Phoenix native Robert Mulvin, All Pro Shade Concepts is home to a new facility and even more success on the horizon as they approach their 20th anniversary.
“We're number one in Arizona for outdoor shades because of our superior customer service and topnotch products,” he says. “Really, it's our team that makes the difference. We all pull together to give our customers a custom shade solution tailored to their needs and stick with them for the long haul.”
Mulvin adds that one aspect of All Pro Shade Concepts that often surprises people is their commitment to local manufacturing.
“As we transition to producing our own shades inhouse at our new facility, we're not just ensuring quality and innovation in our products but also contributing significantly to the local economy by creating more jobs and supporting community development,” he notes. “This move allows us to maintain a hands-on approach to our product quality and design, tailoring our offerings to the unique needs of the Arizona climate and our customers' preferences.”
For retractable awnings, patio shades, and sunscreens, All Pro Shade Concepts offers the best quality for the most competitive pricing. And customers can choose from manual and motorized patio shades and awnings.
“We started offering retractable shades in 2008 and then motorized options in 2012,” says Mulvin. “The retractable patio shades didn’t take off until 2015; they provide comfort from the Arizona sun while extending outdoor entertainment space. During the winter, the drop shades retain the heat, especially with space heaters.”
“We have the built-in dimmable LED lights as a standard feature on our motorized awnings,” he adds. “We build these lights into the arms of all our awnings so users can control the level of light by remote control.”
In addition, every awning comes with wind sensors and a motor override just in case the power goes out.
“We hand make every window sunscreen and custom-build them to clients’ needs, which means that we can have shades on the windows of a house or business faster than most competitors,” says Mulvin. “We’ve measured for, made, and installed more than 300,000 window sunscreens.”
Also, window sunscreen installations are eligible for the SRP Screen Rebate. SRP offers customers a rebate of $! per square foot on professionally installed shade screens to keep their homes cooler during Phoenix’s summer months. Customers can even choose the frame, sun blockage percent, and fabric color and design to best suit their home or business.
“Our Textilene shades are the best available and can block up to 99% of the sun’s rays,” Mulvin says. Additionally, the company only uses the most reliable motors for retractable patio shades and awnings, and all products come with a manufacturer’s warranty — 10 years for material and five years for motors.
“Moving forward, the biggest trend impacting our industry will be the integration of smart
technology into outdoor shades,” he says. “At All Pro Shade Concepts, we're leading the way with exclusive features like color-changing LED lights built into our awnings, enhancing aesthetics and functionality. This innovation not only offers convenience through app-controlled adjustments but also sets our products apart in the market, offering unique solutions that enhance the user experience.”
THE FUTURE IS SO BRIGHT, THEY NEED SHADE Mulvin says that, for 2025, All Pro Shade Concepts is positioned for significant growth.
“With the expansion into a new facility and the move to manufacture our shades in-house, we anticipate greater control over product quality and innovation,” he shares. “Additionally, our forthcoming partnerships with unique technology manufacturers will enable us to introduce cutting-edge shade product lines exclusively in the Phoenix market. Coupled with targeted marketing campaigns and collaborations with local influencers, we expect to not only enhance our market presence but also to redefine industry standards in outdoor shade solutions.”
While it’s always a good time to add shade to homes and businesses in Arizona, Mulvin says, “The best time to schedule All Pro Shade Concepts is before the heat arrives so you can stay comfortable.”
Visit allproshadeconcepts.com or call 623-2041476 to request a free home or business inspection. The showroom is at 21617 N. 2nd Ave. in Phoenix. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred to guarantee a salesperson will be available.

Finally the weather is what we wait for all summer! And here come all of our winter visitors…not the geese, the snowbirds! The traffic slows down but we love them and what they do for our economy (and I mean for our small businesses!)
Our real estate in the zip code had a few more sales in the past 30 days than the previous 30 days but the average price dropped 1.71%. The month before was up 4.49% so overall we still look good. The average of the entire MLS was down 3.46% which means we are looking better than the average by quite a bit.
Our highest sale in 85383 was an incredible $2,865,000 for a 5,654-sf beauty! It included a pool, spa and a whopping 8-car garage on almost an acre. This is a great price, but we are looking at breaking that price this next month as there is a home under contract at $3,250,000! We shall share the final price after it closes, but in the wings is an active home listed at $4,997,000! The Upper West Side is the place to be!
We also continue to see new businesses popping up all over! It isn’t new but I can’t wait to check out the new location for Haymaker which should be open very soon! It’s also so nice to have In-N-Out open!
We were recently out at the Twisted Italian and I have to say that the food and service were both outstanding. If you haven’t tried them out, you really should! So many great places and so little time!
I am writing this a couple of weeks before it is printed and out to you, but the election will probably be over by the time you are reading this. I hope we can all come together no matter who wins. Look for the things that bring us together and not the things that separate us (as I think both political sides are guilty of trying to make us do). Thanksgiving is coming up so let’s be thankful for everything we can! The people around us, the jobs we have, a car that works, and the wonderful place we live! I am thankful that you are taking the time to read this, and I want to wish you a very happy Thanksgiving!

On Oct. 15, the city of Peoria approved several new agreements that will move two of its major economic development projects forward. Both the North Peoria Gateway master plan, which will span more than 1,600-acres, and Amkor Technology Inc.’s planned $2 billion campus received positive reviews from
the council. The proposed developments are part of Peoria’s efforts to bring more development, high-paying jobs and tax revenue to the city.
The North Peoria Gateway is comprised of 1,621-acres from the state trust land and runs along both sides of the Loop 303 from Pinnacle Peak Road
to Lone Mountain Parkway. The new growth corridor is located just south of the Amkor project and when finalized, could have a nearly 14,000 residential units, as well as mix of commercial uses.
The city considered four items in the meeting, including a development agreement with the Arizona State Land Department, an annexation request and two zoning applications that would establish a planned community for the North Peoria Gateway.
To date, a master developer has not been finalized and a land auction has not been scheduled for the site yet, but the changes are expected to help streamline the development once it's ready.
Peoria is also looking at a joint development for public infrastructure improvements supporting Amkor's semiconductor advanced packaging and testing facility, which when completed will be located just north of the district.
The city of Peoria, the master developer of Vistancia's commercial property and Amkor are expected to make improvements related to water and roads for the semiconductor project and the surrounding area. Peoria estimates its budget for design and improvement costs at approximately $6 million, while developer Vistancia Development LLC will need to budget roughly $7.5 million. Amkor is looking at another $2.1 million in potential improvements to the site.
Throwing its hat in the Taiwan Semiconductor ring, PulteGroup has plans to acquire a massive tract of land for a new community of homes near the plant in north Phoenix.
The Homebuilder has submitted plans to the city of Phoenix for a 6,300+ acre plot of land from the Arizona State Land Department to be rezoned for a mixeduse master-planned community called NorthPark. If approved, the development would allow for just over 19,000 new residences.
The land is bordered on the north by Loop 303, to the west by the city of Peoria municipal boundary, the south by the Central Arizona Project canal and to the east by Interstate 17.
The Arizona State Land Department has yet to set a sale date. The zoning will first need to be finished so an appropriate value can be approved. Once finalized, an auction notice will be released.
PulteGroup is designing NorthPark as a future-forward regional hub, strategically positioned. The community will be supported by high-speed infrastructure while strategically placed to connect the current and planned development of TSMC to the residential communities south of the CAP canal.
This isn’t the first piece of land near TSMC Arizona currently being courted by Arizona homebuilders. Earlier this year, Lennar Homes bought roughly 80-acres along Pinnacle Peak Road near 43rd Avenue after placing the winning bid in an Arizona State Land Department auction.
That auction included bids from major builders including D.R. Horton, Evergreen Development Co. and Scottsdale’s Ashton Woods Homes. In total, there were 164 bids, further demonstrating the perceived value of the area. It is believed that once finished, the area around TSMC will create thousands of jobs, including hotels, restaurants and other retail stores.
HI, MY NAME IS… Joey Lucidi
I’VE LIVED IN PEORIA FOR 16 YEARS AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE… it has been such an incredible place to raise our family. We have been blessed with amazing neighbors at every home, and have created some lifetime friends along the way! The ability to work, go to church, have fun and live all in Peoria is really an amazing thing.
A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES…taking my little one to school as often as I can, then heading to the office. Owning restaurants today is much different than owning a restaurant 12 years ago, for me at least. Most of my day is spent dealing with business issues, growing pains, financial
items, and overseeing the future of our company rather than the day to day operations. Luckily, I have the BEST team in the valley that helps manage everything side by side with me.
MY FAMILY IS…my life. I married my wife almost 19 years ago, and we have four beautiful daughters, Isabella, Gianna, Olivia, and Amelia. These girls keep Tanya and I busy and on our toes!
ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT… besides my family, would be golf. I love the game, but more love the time with my buddies. It is a great release from work, and without it I am not sure I could find a way to decompress.
MY FAVORITE MOVIE I COULD NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING AND WHY… "Four Christmases," but only at Christmas time. I think the best part is watching it with my wife. We know every line and I know what’s going to make her laugh. It starts off our holiday season every year!
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE…a professional golfer. I was fortunate enough to get a full scholarship and played NCAA Division 1, and tried to play a bit after college, but it wasn’t in the cards. But I believe golf played a huge role in being successful in the business world.
THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT IS… nope, can’t stand karaoke.
THE ONE PERSON WHO MOTIVATES ME IS… my dad. It’s a cheesy answer, but true. I have yet to meet anyone with the discipline and work ethic he has. He is an amazing role model for me and even as he changes his priorities later in life, I am still learning from him today.
THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… listening to my teenage daughters joke around and tease each other. We have thick skin at the Lucidi house, so they get some good digs in.
THE PERFECT DAY IS… breakfast with Tanya, golf with the boys, then a pool night with my family and a BBQ.
MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS…my church, CCV. I started going there 13 years ago and it has completely changed my life.
MY LIFE IS…pretty awesome.
THE BEST GIFT I’VE EVER RECEIVED WAS…well, it was kind of a gift. My uncle sold me his original 1966 Corvette Stingray for a price well below market value. It sure felt like a gift!
MY DREAM VACATION WOULD BE… I could stay in Italy for long periods of time!
THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED IS… Trust, but verify. I use it at work obviously, but in so many other areas of life.
Picture this: You’re in your backyard, staring at a patch of dirt, holding a packet of seeds. Now, imagine those seeds are your money. You wouldn’t toss them in the dirt, cross your fingers, and hope for a giant oak tree by next weekend, right? No way. Gardening—just like investing—takes time, patience, and a solid strategy.
Let’s start with the basics: the soil. This is your foundation, your financial plan. If your soil isn’t prepped, it doesn’t matter how fancy your seeds (investments) are. Without the right foundation—like an emergency fund or managing debt—nothing will grow. Bad soil, bad outcome. It’s that simple.
Then, there’s the seeds. Stocks, bonds, mutual funds—each of these is a different type of seed. Some grow quickly (think stocks: they sprout fast but can get scorched in the heat of a bad market), and some take longer (bonds: slow and steady, like a mighty oak). The trick is knowing which seeds to plant, and how many of each, to create a diverse garden. Because let’s be honest—nobody wants a garden that’s just tomatoes.
Watering and sunlight? That’s the regular care your investments need. Set it and forget it? Nah, not quite. Investments need periodic check-ins. Just like plants need the right amount of water and sunlight (too much or too little and things can get ugly), your portfolio needs the right balance of
attention and updates, especially as the seasons of your life change.
Now, beware of weeds—aka, bad decisions. They pop up when you panic because the market took a dip or a “hot tip” makes you want to yank out your well-planned garden. Don’t do it! Pruning and weeding are part of the process, but you need to stick with your long-term plan and resist the urge to over-manage or make impulse decisions.
In the end, investing is a lot like gardening: with the right mix of seeds, care, and patience, you’ll watch your money grow. So, grab your metaphorical shovel and get planting. Just don’t expect a money tree by tomorrow.
And remember, if you ever feel like your garden needs a little professional touch, well, that’s where folks like me come in. We’re the garden gnomes of investing— minus the creepy smile.

“A
After a surgery that fixes his facial deformity, a man finds a play about his story colliding with his life.
A very funny film about oneself and perception, with Sebastian Stan’s greatest performance to date. Watching his character, Edward, bottle up his insecurities before they leak out, whether it’s in basic conversations or his own quiet parts, is truly great. All the while, Renate Reinsve and Adam Pearson’s supporting work show how versatile the two are as they enhance the grounded but odd world it has. From a filmmaking perspective it’s stunning, some great lighting here to add to the mood of the film. That said, the movie does end on a rather strange note, a result of the film perhaps not stopping at the right moment. Still, it doesn’t ruin what was an hour and forty minutes of unnerving and thoughtful humor.
The chaos surrounding the 90 minutes leading up to the first Saturday Night Live episode.
One of the most self-congratulatory pieces of film in a while, one that can’t bother to actually explore the people behind SNL beyond an easy and consumable level. There’s no examination of how Lorne Michaels sees his cast or the actual impact the show had for its time period, just about how wacky everything is. This is a highly talented cast but most of them don’t get to do much with the material given, just imitations of these people. The only exceptions are Cory Michael Smith, Lamorne Morris and Willem Dafoe who give the film energy. The most insulting thing is how the film builds tension about whether the show will come together - not because we know it will, but because it acts like these future stars may not be. It goes for the easy option.
“Apartment 7A”
A young dancer finds herself at the center of a horrifying conspiracy when she moves into a new apartment.
It’s an enormous task to follow up a classic like Rosemary’s Baby, but that’s still no excuse to deliver such a dull waste of time. Apartment 7A offers nothing new as a prequel or as its own experience, more a retread with less interesting moviemaking and with nothing new to say from 56 years ago. It moves at a snail’s pace, with nothing of interest happening beyond odd antics and the occasional jump scare. The actors do their honest best with the material but are unable to rise above it. There’s little that makes the film even feel like a distinct and new entry from its predecessor. It’s as if it was its own script that was slapped into the universe as a quick cash-grab.
“Wolfs”
Two lone-wolf fixers find themselves forced into the same job together.
Clooney and Pitt’s long awaited reunion lacks energy and personality for a stereotypical streamer movie. There is no real movement to the film, just events happening for the sake of the plot rather than any real story motivation, and in a world that feels
dead (which is odd for a city like New York). It would be made up for if the main duo were as fun as expected, but the script and direction give neither much to do which results in the two seeming to be bored throughout the film. Ironically, for a movie all about unexpected twists and turns, it’s very predictable in terms of filmmaking and plot. A disposable film, one that will be forgotten about by the time you read this.

Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass offers a recreational, cultural, and inspirational experience in the Southwest.
Walking into the lobby of the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass transports you to another world. This hidden gem, located a few miles west of Interstate 10 and Wild Horse Pass Boulevard, offers a serene escape just outside the bustling city. The 500-room resort authentically represents the Gila River Indian Community’s heritage and culture.
The resort provides a full recreational, cultural, and inspirational experience in the American Southwest. The architecture, art and legends of the Pima and Maricopa tribes are celebrated in every detail, both indoors and out. Situated in the high Sonoran Desert, the property features untouched ancient vistas, mountains, and roaming wild horses. The luxury resort blends Pima and Maricopa cultures, offering the quiet serenity created by tribal elders and sister tribes including Salt River, Ak-Chin and Tohono O’odham. The lobby welcomes guests with a stunning hand-painted Native American mural on its rotunda, which is modeled after the Olas ki (round house) – the first Pima dwelling.
Wander with curiosity and immerse yourself in the culture, history and plant life of the Gila River Indian Community along 3.8 miles of Interpretive Trails. The trails feature a paved 1.3-mile riverwalk path and a 2.5-mile natural path that meanders through indigenous desert flora along the re-creation of the Gila River. At the end, take a moment to embrace the peace and solitude of the desert.
Dining options include the renowned Kai Restaurant, the only AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five Star restaurant
in Arizona. Kai offers Native American cuisine with global accents, immersing guests in the local tribes’ culture. The menu, hand-painted by a local artist, consists of four courses: Birth (hors d’oeuvres), Beginning (appetizers), Journey (entree), and Afterlife (desserts). Chef Drew Anderson partners with local cultivators like Ramona Farms to showcase locally grown produce and Arizonamade olive oil in recipes that merge contemporary tastes with time-honored Native American techniques.
Ko’sin Restaurant offers a more casual dining experience with a menu that blends Native American and Southwestern flavors. The restaurant provides stunning views of the Sierra Estrella Mountain Range, making it a perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The lobby bar is another great dining option, offering a relaxed atmosphere where guests can enjoy a variety of cocktails, wines, and light bites. It’s an ideal place to unwind after a day of exploring the resort.
Guests looking for ultimate relaxation can visit the Forbes Five-Star Aji Spa and Salon which offers a unique Native American spa experience, demonstrating the clarity and renewal powers of indigenous plants and ingredients.
The spa, named “Aji” meaning “sanctuary” in the Pima language, reflects the traditions of the Pima and Maricopa cultures in every aspect, from art and architecture to treatments and services. The signature Indigenous Collection, developed by Aji’s Cultural Caretakers, offers an authentic Native American spa experience like no other.
Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass is ideal for indoor
or outdoor weddings, providing a picturesque setting for your special day. The resort also offers extensive meeting space for conferences, ensuring a perfect blend of both business and leisure.
On-property experiences abound at Wild Horse Pass. The resort features a tranquil pool area with a 111-foot water slide and the Hanyo Pool Bar for lunch, small bites and cocktails. Guests can enjoy 36 holes of golf at Whirlwind Golf Club and explore the 1,000-acre Koli Equestrian Center, where guided rides into the desert in search of wild horses are available. The resort’s River Boat Adventure allows guests to explore the recreated Gila River surrounding the property with paddle boards, kayaks, or pedal boats. For families, the Quail Kids Club offers a kids adventure camp with various activities throughout the year.
The Land of the Mustangs is a unique offering at the resort, where guests can learn about the history and significance of wild horses in the region.
