ICE CREAM RUN

When: May 8, 7 – 8:30 a.m. Where: Rio Vista Park, 8866 W. Thunderbird Rd. in Peoria What: Tortoise and Hare Sports is bringing the whole family to enjoy a four-mile run/walk and kids sundae sprint. Celebrate with Rita’s ice cream at the finish! Run includes a custom finisher’s medal, official event shirt, ICR sticker, ice cream bowl and spoon.

LIBRARY MURDER MYSTERY PARTY

When: May 12, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Where: Zoom What: The librarians of Peoria Public Library thought they were in for a quiet night when the unthinkable happened --a dead body was found hidden behind the bookshelves! Now, the librarians are counting on YOU, the best and brightest minds in all of Peoria, to piece together the clues and figure out who the murderer is … before he or she strikes again! At this Zoom murder mystery party, participants must work together to solve the mystery before time runs out. Our setting is the library, so literarythemed costumes are encouraged! For 10 days, diners can enjoy specially dedicated menus designed to showcase the true culinary talent that exists within the state — from the finest five-star restaurants to locally owned and chef-driven “hidden gems.” During the event, participating restaurants offer culinary adventurers a unique tasting opportunity in addition to their regular menus, featuring three-course prix-fixe menus for just $33 or $44 per person. Wine pairings to enhance each course are offered at some establishments for an additional cost. Menus are available for dine-in as well as to-go.

GODSPELL

When: May 21 – June 13 Where: Arizona Broadway Theatre, 7701 W. Paradise Ln. in Peoria What: This isn’t your average Bible study! Based on the Gospel according to Matthew, Godspell follows a comedic troupe of players as they help a contemporary Jesus share his lessons through parables, games, and comedic shenanigans. This musical features an eclectic blend of songs written by the composer of Wicked, Stephen Schwartz, such as Prepare Ye The Way of the Lord, Turn Back O Man, and of course, the popular hit Day By Day. Even after the crucifixion, Jesus’ message of kindness, tolerance, and love lives vibrantly on.

RUGGED MANIAC 5K OBSTACLE RACE

When: May 22, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Where: Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, 20000 S. Maricopa Rd. in Chandler What: 50% FESTIVAL + 50% MUD RUN = 100% AWESOME! Rugged Maniac is like recess for grown-ups, except our playground has a 3-story water slide, trampolines, and a fire jump, and there’s a huge festival right in the middle of everything with a DJ and plenty of beer. Each time slot is limited to just 200 Maniacs each, so grab your friends and reserve your spot before it sells out!
