Photo Courtesy of C Gallery LOCATED AT DC RANCH MARKETPLACE, C GALLERY IS A LOCAL ART GALLERY AND
INTIMATE EVENT VENUE. They feature large oil on canvas work, limited edition prints, and photographs exclusive to local, national, and international female artists. “C Gallery features female artists who bring a unique perspective of the world around us. C Gallery also focuses on the lasting legacy of art from generation to generation,” according to the gallery. “Curating your own art collection reflects your individual personality.” In addition to having their own space to showcase art, the gallery supports nonprofits by donating a portion of every art sale to charity and donating their space to charitable events.
This month, C Gallery owner and featured artist Charlene Falk is bringing the community together and sharing the beauty of art this holiday season.
Some of this month’s featured artists include:
• Photographer Rebecca Ritchie is a selftaught photographer from Phoenix.
Her photos are mainly focused on landscapes, wildlife, and plants.
She was first inspired by her father, who was a talented oil painter and specialized in realistic landscapes. • Abstract artist Nasta Salgado was born in Sonora and nature has always inspired her to create. Her main motive behind her artwork is to manifest happiness and good vibes through vibrant colors and abstract shapes. • Earthenware pottery artist Carol Balyozian resides in Arizona and is accomplished in many art forms, including photography, printmaking, and origami. Patterns and textures are a strong visual theme in her work.
More recently she has found herself immersed in clay, giving way for further exploration with form and volume. • Resin works artist Allison Roy resides in Scottsdale and is inspired by the scenic colors that Arizona offers. From the vibrant blue skyline to the arid desert colors, Allison creates coasters, trivets and platters using resin and alcohol ink to be used and appreciated in the home.
C Gallery is located at 20789 N. Pima Road, Suite 100, in the DC Ranch Marketplace. In addition to having art on display, art is also available for sale, and the gallery features coffee products, too.

Mac Entertainment Group to Open Buddah’s Ritual in North Scottsdale
SCOTT AND MELISSA MCINTIRE, OWNERS OF MAC ENTERTAINMENT GROUP AND THE COUPLE BEHIND THE AINSWORTH IN DOWNTOWN PHOENIX AND THE LOLA AT WESTGATE, ALONG WITH “JOEY BOY” RODRIGUEZ, HOST OF THE MORNING MESS, ANNOUNCE PLANS TO OPEN A UNIQUE NEW CONCEPT CALLED BUDDHA’S RITUAL IN NORTH SCOTTSDALE
THIS FALL. Buddha’s Ritual was created by local entrepreneur and branding visionary, Freddy Nguyen, and will occupy the ground floor retail space in SOHO Scottsdale, a live/work loft and townhome community on the southwest corner of Bahia Drive and N. 92nd Street, just down the street from WestWorld.
“Joey and I looked at a number of spaces for a Scottsdale restaurant and finally found the right one,” says Scott McIntire. “We’re excited to bring something entirely new to the area and are confident it is going to be well-received. We can’t wait to open and officially expand Mac Entertainment Group to Scottsdale.”
Buddha’s Ritual is a completely original concept fusing food and fashion and Asian and American fare in a fun, casual environment. The restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, serving several signature items like croffles (croissant waffles) and Buddha’s Benny with crispy pork belly in the morning and pho, ramen, a deconstructed Banh Mi plate, kimchi mac and cheese, kimchi grilled cheese and stone brick oven pizzas with Asian-inspired toppings in the evenings. Just like Mac Entertainment Group’s other two concepts, Buddha’s Ritual will have a strong cocktail program and a great happy hour.
The Buddha’s Ritual experience will begin by entering the 2,700 square foot restaurant through a hot pink front door. Guests can enjoy the indoor-outdoor space enabled by multiple garage doors, relax on the expansive patio that will feature a fire pit and lawn games, and sip on signature cocktails at the large bar. Merchandise, including high quality hats and shirts, reflecting the concept’s playful branding also will be available for purchase.
“SOHO Scottsdale is pleased to collaborate with Mac Entertainment Group on their latest concept, Buddha’s Ritual,” says Irene Catsibris Clary, developer of SOHO Scottsdale. “Even the most discerning foodies will be enticed with the mouthwatering menu items that have been created.”
Buddha’s Ritual is planning to open soon and is currently looking to hire 50 team members for all front and back of house positions. Interested parties can apply by emailing sohoscottsdale@buddhasritual. com. Open interviews will be held on site every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. leading up to the opening.

Returning to School as an Adult? How to Fund Tuition
Renee A. Hanson, CFP® , ChFC®, CEP®, CDFA™ , CFS®, BFA®, APMA®
Millions of Americans in the workforce are heading back to school to further their education. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, college students over the age of 25 are projected to increase 11% by 2026. These adult learners are enrolling for a variety of reasons – to train for a new career, satisfy an urge to expand their knowledge base, or earn an MBA or master’s degree to improve their growth in their current job. If you decide additional education is the right option for you, be aware that tuition costs are on the rise. How will you pay for it? Here are some options to contemplate: • Your savings. Consider what savings you may have available to put toward tuition. If your return to school is still a semester or two away, start setting aside specific savings you can use for this purpose. Be sure to account for the cost of books, technology and other fees your school of choice may require. Resist the urge to tap into your retirement accounts. While it may be tempting, you have other sources of funds to pay for school that are not available to pay for your retirement. • 529 Plans. A tax-advantaged 529 college savings plan is typically used as a savings vehicle for future education needs of children or grandchildren. But you can also establish a 529 for your own education or tap unused assets you established in a child’s account for your own expenses. • Tuition reimbursement. Returning to school is particularly attractive if your employer offers a tuition reimbursement program. In practical terms, this means you could further your education and potentially improve your job and career prospects at a reduced cost to you. Important caveats may be tied to the reimbursement, such as only covering tuition for coursework in an area relevant to your current role or requiring you to remain with your employer for a period of time after completing your education. Check with your human resources department to see what benefits are available to you. • Grants and scholarships. There is no age limit to qualify for federal financial aid. Financial need dictates the ability to qualify for grants at the federal level, which
may limit your opportunities. However, you may also be able to find scholarships from other sources that apply specifically for older students. Your school’s financial aid office may be a helpful resource. • Loans. Adult students are eligible to take out traditional student loans. If you do, be thoughtful about the amount you borrow and diligent about repaying them quickly after graduation. You may be able to deduct a portion of the student loan interest from your gross income, subject to certain limitations. • Tax credits. There may be opportunities to reduce your tax bill if you qualify for education-related tax credits. For example, the Lifetime Learning Credit is a tax credit of up to $2,000 per tax return for qualifying higher education expenses (income limits apply). Which option – or combination of options – is right for you? Enrolling as a full-time student means higher upfront costs and a bigger time commitment. Yet, it can result in a degree or certification faster, which may be ideal if you are eligible for a higher-paying position afterward or if you are funding your schooling through scholarships and loans. If you choose to complete a class at a time, your education will take longer. Financially, this could allow you to absorb tuition and fees into your regular budget or pull the funds from a 529 account that is earning investment income in the meantime. Additionally, doing so may maximize your tax credit and reimbursement options. No matter how you fund higher education, consider how the cost fits within your overall financial strategy. A good place to start is to sit down with a financial advisor to discuss how you can prioritize school amid your other financial goals. Renee A.
