THE MUSICAL INSTRUMENT MUSEUM (MIM), AT 4725 E. MAY BLVD., PHOENIX, HAS UNVEILED TWO UNIQUE, IMMERSIVE EVENTS THAT WILL BRING RICH MUSICAL CULTURE TO LIFE: CELEBRATE THE BLUES AND EXPERIENCE FRANCE. BOTH EVENTS, INCLUDED WITH REGULAR MUSEUM ADMISSION AND FREE FOR MEMBERS, OFFER VISITORS A CHANCE TO BE PART OF THE MELODIES AND MEMORIES WOVEN INTO MUSIC’S HISTORY.
On both Saturday, June 10, and Sunday, June 11, Celebrate the Blues will delve into the roots of blues music, tracing its lineage from Southern delta traditions to the electrification of the big city. Attendees can partake in interactive exhibits, like the harmonica-making craft station from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the South El Río room. This hands-on activity allows guests to construct their own harmonica and play along with the day’s performances.
Museumgoers can also capture their experiences in a hands-free photo booth, with the opportunity to share images online using the hashtag #MIMphx. Moreover, enriching performances and informative sessions, such as a performance by International Blues Challenge winner Eric Ramsey and a curator talk on the history of the blues by Rich Walter, will be held throughout the day. The event concludes with the screening of the blues documentary “Sidemen: Long Road to Glory” at 2:30 p.m.
The Phoenix Blues Society, Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, and Arizona Commission on the Arts are significant supporters of the program, helping to bring an authentic blues experience to the heart of Arizona.
Following the blues celebration, the museum is set to host “Experience France” in honor of Bastille Day. The two-day affair, starting on Saturday, July 15, invites visitors to immerse themselves in the music and culture of

France. Café Allegro, within the museum premises, will tantalize taste buds with a selection of French-inspired cuisine.
While additional details are forthcoming, the event promises to encapsulate the French spirit, combining an exploration of France’s rich musical heritage with a culinary experience that pays tribute to the country’s renowned cuisine. This event is also supported by the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture and Arizona Commission on the Arts.
As one of the most comprehensive collections of musical instruments worldwide, the MIM continues to create opportunities for community engagement, education, and cultural exchange. Through these vibrant, immersive events, the museum continues its mission of celebrating the world’s diverse musical cultures and inviting guests to be part of music’s dynamic global journey.
