ocated in downtown Phoenix, one local organization has been helping thousands of each women year to positively transform their lives by providing education, resources and support. Fresh Start Women’s Foundation began in 1992 as the vision of two sisters’: Pat Petznick and Beverly Stewart. THE STATESMAN GROUP LAUNCHES NEARLY $200M IN LUXURY RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE IN DESERT RIDGE THE STATESMAN GROUP ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT IT WILL LAUNCH NEARLY $200 MILLION IN LUXURY RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE WITHIN DESERT RIDGE NEXT MONTH, which will be available for purchase or rent with the introduction of The Luxe at Desert Ridge, 223 condominiums, and The Montreux, 335 apartments.

A family-owned and operated real estate development company, Statesman owns 50 acres of land within the Desert Ridge masterplanned community located on Deer Valley Road between 52nd and 56th streets. The Luxe occupies 10 acres on the west side of the property while The Montreux sits on nine acres on the east side. This system is being launched in cooperation with the Maricopa Association of Governments and the Maricopa Region 9-1-1; who alongside members of the disability community,

worked tirelessly to identify a solution to make Text to 9-1-1 a reality. Voice calling is always the best option, but if an individual is in a situation where being overheard is dangerous, the texting option provides a safer alternative to contact emergency services. This new program also provides an option for those who have a disability that makes voice calling difficult or impossible, allowing them to easily

Today, the new program is in place and users will be able to send text messages to 9-1-1.

ADOPT A HIGHWAY VOLUNTEERS PUT UP BIG NUMBERS IN 2017 OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND FOR OTHERS INTERESTED IN ADOPTING STRETCHES ALMOST 1,500 MILES OF LANDSCAPE CLEANED ALONG STATE HIGHWAYS. Fourteenthousand bags of trash collected. Half a million taxpayer dollars saved. That’s what nearly 11,000 volunteers wearing lime-yellow vests accomplished in 2017 through the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Adopt a Highway program. With many other highway stretches available for adoption, even more can be accomplished in 2018. “As a frontier state, Arizona has a long history of self-sacrifice and volunteerism, and these impressive numbers illustrate those values,” ADOT Director John Halikowski said. “Highways provide a first impression of Arizona for many visitors, so we all owe a debt of gratitude to those who are investing time and effort through Adopt a Highway.” Regardless of how many people volunteer for Adopt a Highway, Halikowski said, everyone has a responsibility for keeping Arizona litter-free. “We have to continue changing the culture until everyone instinctively knows that littering is absolutely unacceptable,” he said. Volunteer groups can apply for two-year permits to adopt highway stretches using an application available at azdot.gov/ AdoptAHighway. Highways are available in ADOT engineering and maintenance districts around Arizona, and each district has northtatumtimes.com

someone available to help groups make selections. Those accepted for the program get their own instantly recognizable blue sign featuring the name of the organization or group. Groups are expected to clean their stretches of highway at least three times a year. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old, and cleanup crews should consist of six to 10 people. Groups schedule their cleanups ahead of time with their local ADOT districts, which provides trash bags, scheduled collections and safety training. Adopt a Highway also has a sponsorship program through which businesses use ADOT-approved providers to clean up along busier highway stretches that tend to attract more litter. Participants in the sponsorship program can have their names and approved logos on blue Adopt a Highway signs. Mary Currie, who oversees Adopt a Highway volunteer programs, said volunteers include those drawn to service, including retirees, civic organizations and faith groups, as well as families who adopt in memory of a loved one who has passed away. Volunteers tend to have two characteristics: a lot of drive and a love of the outdoors. “It’s not easy working under the Arizona sun,” Currie said. “But it’s a great way to get exercise and have fun with friends, family or colleagues while providing an invaluable service to Arizona.” More information on Adopt a Highway opportunities is available at azdot.gov/AdoptAHighway. MY FAMILY… the MOST supportive husband, Gary, and three delightful children—Kelli, Shelby and Colby, who are all adults now. THE BUSINESS LESSON I LEARNED THE HARD WAY IS… communicate-communicatecommunicate. Never assume the community knows what is happening in any given situation. It is our job as public school educators and leaders to provide the information.

AZGFD REMINDS RESIDENTS NOT TO FEED WILDLIFE

REMINDER FOR PUBLIC TO KEEP WILDLIFE WILD AFTER JAVELINA BITE RESIDENTS IN SEPARATE SEDONA INCIDENTS

he Game and Fish Department reminds everyone to stop feeding wildlife following two recent javelina attacks near Sedona. Both attacks were the result of people feeding javelina at their homes. On Feb. 5, Game and Fish received information that a 79-year-old woman was bitten by a javelina in a neighborhood southwest of Sedona. The attack occurred at around 4 p.m. at the woman’s residence, where she received severe bite wounds to her leg as she tried to stop the javelina from attacking her dogs.

A responding Game and Fish wildlife officer confirmed the woman was intentionally feeding a herd of javelina at her home. The victim was treated in Sedona and released. The second incident occurred on Feb 25. The department received information that an elderly man was bitten by a javelina in Oak Creek Village as he was feeding a herd of javelina in his backyard. When food wasn’t provided quickly enough, one of the animals became aggressive and bit the man in the leg. He was treated at a local emergency room in Sedona and released. The victim has been going through the preventative rabies shot series. These incidents placed the department in a very difficult position where it had to act immediately and consequently contracted with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services to conduct lethal removal of the javelina within a quarter-mile radius of the victims’ residences. The decision to lethally remove

the animals was based on the attacks, an imminent public safety threat created by intentional feeding, the habituation and loss of fear to humans by the javelina, and a concern for possible rabies. A javelina tested positive for rabies in Sedona approximately eight months ago. “The Game and Fish department strongly discourages feeding wildlife other than birds and tree squirrels,” said Scott Poppenberger, Arizona Game and Fish Department Flagstaff regional supervisor. “Wildlife feeding frequently creates dangerous situations for both wildlife and people, often setting the stage for attacks.” As wildlife are fed by people, they lose their natural fear of humans and become dependent on unnatural food sources. Feeding places the person feeding, their neighbors and the wildlife at risk. The department is tasked with managing all wildlife in Arizona and working to ensure public safety. The department does not want to be in a position where it must decide to lethally remove wildlife due to irresponsible feeding so please help to keep wildlife wild. Animals removed by USDA Wildlife Services have been sent to a laboratory for rabies testing. To date, test results received have been negative, some results are still pending. TIPS FOR CAMPING WITH KIDS IN ARIZONA By Jill “MamaBug” Frier

ummer is fast approaching and there is no time like the present to start planning outdoor activities and trips with your youngsters. One new activity our family plans to tackle this year is camping. We are avid hikers and love to find fun adventures around Arizona, both indoors and outdoors. But we have yet to take our daughter camping. I believe in planning ahead and finding out what the experts have to say. There are many great websites and articles on the subject, but one of my very best resources is my dear friend Carol Satran. She and her family of six are true experts on all things camping, fishing and hunting in Arizona. They spend more time enjoying camping and the outdoors with their kids than anyone I know!

CAROL SHARED HER BEST TIPS FOR CAMPING WITH KIDS: • Start taking the kids camping when they are young. This makes a lot of sense – camping means that your kids are in a completely different environment with different habits, times and amenities. Be sure you prepare your kids for being outside in different types of weather and have a lot of patience as they learn and adapt to a new environment. • Involve everyone in packing. This includes packing beforehand, setting up the campsite, breaking camp and putting camping gear away when you get home. Getting your kids involved in the packing and unpacking process helps them be a part of the whole camping experience. Kids want to be involved and including them in packing and unpacking keeps them interested and helps them learn the ins and outs of camping. • Bring cards, a checker game and a

It’s important to be prepared for the inevitable changes in plans and these activities are always handy on a rainy afternoon (especially at places like Big Lake in July). • Bring bicycles. Carol’s kids love riding their bikes at Big Lake and around other camping areas across the state (we love to ride at the Grand Canyon). It’s great entertainment and a quick, easy alternative to hiking longer distances. • Bring your best trivia, stories and games. Sitting around the campfire sharing stories or playing games (for example, the alphabet game naming animals) is a fun way to pass the time and enjoy spending time with your family. Carol’s family also loves to play the Alaska trivia game, since they have been there so many times. • Don’t forget the S’mores! Of course this goes without saying.

Blue Ridge Campground The Blue Ridge Campground is located near Happy Jack, AZ. It’s one of the many campgrounds in the Coconino National Forest and is about 5 miles north of Blue Ridge Reservoir. My answer really depends on where one is traveling. In most cases, I suggest using a credit card as often as possible. Credit cards subject you to the least amount of risk (banks cut off fraudulent use very quickly), and you get the most favorable exchange rates. I usually take two cards, in the event one is declined for some reason. One card is sufficient if you are traveling with someone who also has a card that can be used as your back up. Just make sure the cards have a large enough credit line to cover your big expenses (hotel, car rentals, etc.). Keep in mind some locations require a deposit that may eat into your

These days notification can be done online. Also, be sure to use cards without a foreign transaction fee. Those pesky fees add up quickly if you use your card often. shops (smaller shops especially) may not accept credit cards. In many towns, including big cities, payment with credit cards require a minimum purchase, so if you are wanting a few post cards or a bottle of water, you’ll either have to purchase more items or use cash. Credit cards are also the least best option to get local currency as they often come with higher fees and interest charges. So what about debit cards and cash? Debit cards are best used for cash withdrawals when you need local currency. Depending on what bank you take cash from, you may or may not have an ATM fee. Some US banks waive the fee, but in any event they are fairly low in comparison the what credit card companies charge. And you are getting the best exchange rates. It is best, though, to limit transactions on debit cards as they have a higher risk. With cards being linked to your checking or savings accounts, funds could be taken out before you are even aware of fraudulent use. Some banks limit loss to $50 - however many do not. You could be on the hook for the entire amount stolen. Be sure to check with your bank. TIP: if you prefer to use a debit card, open a new account with limited funds - just enough to cover your anticipated cash needs. This way if you were subjected to fraudulent use, your primary checking or savings accounts can’t be accessed. Or use a prepaid credit card option (but be aware of fees on these cards). n my last trip to Europe I wasn’t O really surprised by the number of people using cash, especially at restaurants. Personally, though, I don’t

believe in carrying much cash. I have enough to cover small purchases or local transportation. Cash is easily lost or stolen, and not recoverable, so best to limit. I have always found it easier to get cash upon arrival at my destination. One can get cash ahead of time, but there are usually fees associated with getting funds in the US and the exchange rate is also less favorable. Exchange rates at airports are convenient but exchange rates are also not the best. I’m not big either on traveler’s cheques. Although they can be replaced if lost, they are not easily exchanged for cash. I have found even banks hesitate to cash them for you. I stopped using them a long time ago. I n summary, in my opinion, you need these three options: credit, debit and cash, understanding that each has its pros and cons. I personally rely on credit cards as these are the most difficult to use fraudulently. I use a debit card once, maybe twice to get enough cash to cover the smaller expenses for the duration of the trip. Of course everyone has different needs, but I recommend $100-$150 to start off with. I keep cash and cards in a safe place (ie. with my passport in a safe) until needed. NEW MEDICARE CARDS ARE ON THEIR WAY!

ere is valuable information you need to know about your new Medicare card, and ways to avoid related scams: The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) is currently mailing new Medicare ID cards through April 2019, as part of an effort from CMS to help protect the beneficiary’s identity and to prevent fraud. The new card is free and will have a unique, 11-character combination of letters and numbers randomly assigned to you, that has no connection to your other personal data. It will still be red, white, and blue, but will not include your Social Security number or other information that could compromise your identity. The mailing process won’t cost you anything. It is expected to take up to a year and will be done at various times throughout the country. Don’t be surprised if your card arrives at a different time than your spouse, friend, or neighbor. In Arizona, the new

cards are expected to begin being mailed after June 2018. When the new card arrives, shred your old card and begin using your new card immediately. It’s important that you provide your hospital, doctor, pharmacist, and/or other health care provider with the new card when you need medications, hospital, medical, or any other health services. If you do not have your new card with you when it is needed, the provider may be able to look up your Medicare number online. It’s important to note that the card is proof that you have Medicare coverage. As far as your current Medicare coverage, it should not be affected, and benefits will remain unchanged. Your current insurance ID cards should also not change or be reissued because of this transition; keep both your new Medicare card and your insurance ID card. If your address is up to date, then the you

don’t need to do anything before the cards are mailed; it will automatically be sent to you. If you want to ensure that your address is correct, or if you need to make a change, you can contact the Social Security Administration Office (which will be preparing and mailing the cards) at ssa.gov/ myaccount or you may call 800-772-1213. There are scammers with new tactics who have already targeted people and tried to trick them into sharing their personal information. CMS will not call a beneficiary for private or personal information in order for you to get your new Medicare number and/ or card. Use caution when giving your new Medicare number to others; be sure that you trust them to work with Medicare on your behalf, such as doctors or other health providers, pharmacists, insurers. If someone asks you for your personal information or for money, or if they threaten to cancel your health benefits if you don’t share that

personal information, hang up immediately. Also remember to guard your Medicare card and number, and don’t give personal information in exchange for your Medicare card. If you need additional information, you may choose to speak with a licensed and certified professional agent at no cost to you. NICE WEATHER FOR YOU BUT NOT YOUR PET By Michael Morefield

ith a fur coat and limited cooling mechanisms, dogs can overheat in weather that many people think is a gorgeous Arizona day. Dr. Rebecca Bukowy of MD Petcare has seen more cases of heat exhaustion during the

spring and fall months than in the summer. Even when it’s 70 degrees outside, the inside of a car can rise above 115 degrees in less than an hour. On a beautiful 80-degree day, your dog can start to suffer heat stroke in less than 30 minutes inside your car. Mitigate heat exhaustion risks by walking early in the morning or late at night, carrying plenty of water for your pet, never leaving your dog in the car, and looking for warning signs of heat exhaustion. If your pet is excessively panting, lethargic, or has bright red or blue gums, immediately stop outdoor activities and slowly cool your pet down to avoid heat stroke. You may need to also seek veterinary assistance, as heat stroke is an emergency situation. GOT THAT SPF? Thick coats of fur may overheat your dog, but short-coated dogs can suffer even bigger problems: skin cancer. Short or white coats, like on bully breeds, does not protect their skin from UV rays very well, which can cause different forms of skin cancer. Use a children’s or dog-friendly sunscreen, which is made for more sensitive skin, and avoid using an aerosolized sunscreen. Thick liquid sunscreens can be rubbed into their fur and onto their skin. A word of caution: make sure your dog doesn’t lick it off; it can make them sick. A quick rinse will wash off any excess at the end of your outdoor activities and keep them cool! WATER ACTIVITIES If you’re looking to have outdoor fun with your dog as temps rise, think about games with a kiddie pool. Found at most stores for less than $20, small pools can fit on apartment patios and provide endless fun for your pup on a hot day. Find some healthy snacks around the house, such as carrots or apple slices, and throw them into the pool. Hunting for snacks in the water and using their problem-solving skills will mentally stimulate your dog, which is as important as physical exercise. Throw their favorite toys into the

pool for a splashy game of fetch or wet their fur to cool them down. It may be the best $20 you spend all summer on your dog. ESCAPE THE HEAT, BUT NOT THE TICKS As more people and their four-legged family members escape up north for cooler temperatures, they may not realize they are exposing their dogs to hungry, disease-carrying ticks. The majority of dog owners in the valley do not use flea and tick treatment on their pets, but a simple monthly treatment can save them what could be thousands of dollars in medical bills. Tick fever, tick paralysis and blood borne diseases carried by ticks can infect your dog during one of your weekend outings in the woods. Some of these diseases are fatal but can be easily avoided with a pill or cream every month. Even outside of the summer months, owners should continue the treatments. One of the worst cases of tick borne illnesses at MD PetCare was a dog who lived in the Valley and never went farther than his backyard.

IF IT’S TOO HOT FOR YOUR HAND… Even if the temperature feels nice enough for a walk, asphalt can retain a lot of heat after sunset. Use the back of your hand to feel the ground. If you can’t leave the back of your hand on the ground for seven seconds, it’s too hot for your pup’s feet. If the air temperature is in the 70’s and 80’s, asphalt in the sun can be over 120 degrees, which can cause skin damage on the bottom of their paws. Booties are an option, but they do take extra training and should not be used as an answer to walking your dog when the outside temperature is too hot. With the above safety tips, you and your dog can survive the Arizona summer with ease! In 2003 Stephens purchased the Arena Sports Grill in Scottsdale, which became a favorite stop for locals looking for reliable delivery of great food and fun in an atmosphere that nurtures good times for the whole family. But that is not all of them, The Upper Crust Pizza & Patio Wine Bar, one of the most recent ventures of Stephens, offers not only the best Brooklynstyled pizza in town but also salads, wine and craft beer. BUGSY SAYS… IS A SCORPION’S STING WORSE THAN ITS BITE? By Ken Brown Eco-Logic Management

f course it is, but that’s mainly because scorpions don’t bite.

Scorpions are part of the arachnid family, which means they have 8 legs and are related to the spider and the tick. They have been around for millions of years and live on every continent except Antarctica. Around the world there are over 1,200 species, with over 70 right here in the US, ranging from less than ½” up to 9”. All of them have a venomous stinger that is used to paralyze their prey and, luckily, most are not harmful to humans. The average sized litter is eight babies that can usually be found riding on momma’s back as her and dad look for a feast of primarily insects. Crickets and cockroaches are a favorite meal of these nocturnal creatures. Scorpions live in dry ecosystems, like the American Southwest and can usually be found under debris and rocks, around logs and firewood, and in the cinder block walls surrounding most Valley yards. Inside a home, they gravitate towards cool moist areas such as crawl spaces and attics.

There are a few ways that you can find out if your property is home to scorpions. The most common way is to “scorpion hunt” with a black light after sundown. They will glow a vibrant blue-green color under the black light. On the plus side, you’ll know if you have them. On the down side, you’ll know if you have them. Another method is to ask your neighbors because they are generally territorial, so if your neighbor has them, there is a pretty good chance that you do as well. The third way, and the most popular among the Eco-Logic guys, is to call a pest control company. (We know a guy.) QUESTION: We plan to buy a home soon. How does my credit report impact my loan approval? ANSWER: Your credit report should always be a top priority because it impacts every credit purchase; be it a car, computer or property. By Federal law, we are all given a free credit report from all three credit report bureaus annually (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion). To check yours, go to: www.annualcreditreport.com. Mortgage lenders use their own formula to determine loan approval. Your score with the three primary credit reporting bureaus listed above may vary because their criteria is slightly different and not all of them receive the identical information. Meaning that some banks don’t report to all three. But all three bureaus use the FICO score. FICO (Fair, Isaac and Company) is a company established in 1956 by Mathematician Earl Isaac and Engineer, Bill Fair to determine a person’s credit worthiness. Your lender is part of your buying Team: Realtor, Lender, Escrow Officer, Appraiser, Home Inspector – all working for you and your home purchase. A lender will obtain your score from all three agencies and use the middle range score. 33% of your loan approval is based on your debt as it relates to your income. One criteria they look at is the percentage of current debt on your credit cards. They don’t want to see more than 20% debt of your available credit. So, if you have $10,000 available credit, that would be $2,000.00. Anything over that will likely be questioned. The lender will

remind you not to make any major purchases during the loan period – which is until your escrow closes. Don’t buy new appliances or a car on credit during the process – or ideally within a few months prior to embarking on a home purchase. Keep in mind that the Lender will be checking your credit report periodically throughout the purchase transaction; they will be aware of any purchases you have made that could impact your ability to get a loan. 35 percent of your approval is based on your on-time payment of bills. The lender wants to see that the borrower is responsible in their payment history. Even one late-pay can influence your credibility.

You may not be aware of this but if you have co-signed on a car or other loan for a family member or friend, the amount you co-signed for will appear as your debt for the full balance. If your FICO score is quite high, this may not be an issue for you; but, if not, it could impact your loan approval. Before a Buyer can make an offer, they must speak to a lender to be pre-qualified to borrow. When you’re working on that paperwork, ask where you stand and what their criteria is. Heed their advice. So, yes. Your credit report and FICO score has a lot to do with obtaining a loan to purchase a home. The formula is pretty simple. When a customer writes a complaint online, review, tweet, post, etc., don’t ignore them. Respond quickly, every time, period. Your business is not where you are, it’s where your customers are…online. In a report by The Customer Experience Index in 2012 released by Forrester, 80 percent of businesses believe they are delivering superior customer service. But only 8 percent of customers believe they are. Businesses need to wake up and realize that more than likely, their customer service as a whole, online and in-store, sucks. Jay Baer, one of the top social media

consultants in the country and author of Hug Your Haters, said it best that customer service is the new marketing. All the ads in the world aren’t going to save your business if you don’t realize that you are truly in the service business. Customer expectations are low and for customers that do receive any response, it’s a pleasant surprise. When a company responds quickly, customers are blown away. I have handled thousands of reviews for Pita Jungle, Riot Hospitality Group and others and I make it a priority to respond to complaints within the hour when possible but never later than the same day. The bond is stronger when you win a customer back vs. someone who has had only a positive experience. BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT IN PHOENIX ONCE A YEAR, IN MAY WE CELEBRATE OUR MOTHERS AND ALL THEY DO FOR US. But most moms need a pat on the back and support more than once a year – especially brand-new moms. In the

first days and weeks after the birth of a child, the transition to motherhood can be very challenging. For breastfeeding moms, the Phoenix area has a lot to offer: La Leche League to the rescue.

La Leche League is a worldwide organization that offers free breastfeeding support by phone and monthly in-person meetings. The Phoenix area has 10 meetings, held every month in different locations throughout the valley. Mothers can come to get help with breastfeeding, meet other nursing mothers and find a community of support. The Leaders are mothers who have nursed their own babies and who have received training in peer-to-peer breastfeeding support. A typical meeting includes discussion of various topics related to breastfeeding and motherhood but mostly focuses on the questions mothers ask. Many mothers have a tough time getting breastfeeding off to a good start. Other mothers have concerns about going back to

work while continuing to breastfeed. Others are looking for a community of support and they come back month after month, asking different questions as their baby grows.

FIRST REFORMED

A pastor’s sanity loosens as he struggles with his beliefs in the aftermath of the suicide of someone who went to him for help. 2018 has been a great year for film so far. Ethan Hawke’s performance as Toller is arguably his best, often calm and subtle in scenes where he is having tough conversations and when he is on the verge of breaking down. The way director and writer Paul Schrader shot these scenes is incredible, whether he uses long takes, wide angles or the standard back and forth editing of a conversation, each time it always works to benefit the mood of the scene. This also leads to some incredible shots on their own. In addition, Schrader’s screenplay, while being about the guilt of not being able to help someone, also touches on how we treat our environment, how far we can go as activists, and the fear of a bleak future. It’s a very tough and somber film, but that’s what makes it great.

YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE

A hired gun’s rescue of a senator’s daughter has repercussions for himself and his associates. Lynne Ramsay’s adaptation of Jonathan Ames novel of the same name is brutal and beautiful. The film flows like fever dream with every moment, whether calm or frightening, always having the uncomfortable switch dialed up to 10. Joaquin Phoenix’s role, the war vet Joe, is quiet but still menacing, never feeling overdramatic in his actions. Jonny Grennwood’s score is haunting, but weirdly soothing as well, with its placements throughout the film used as a look into the mind of Joe during specific scenes. The film’s short runtime of just 90 minutes never comes off as rushed and allows the story to take it’s time.

WON’T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR?

A documentary that demystifies Fred Rogers and his career, including the creation of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. 24 • May 2018 • NORTH TATUM TIMES

What’s great about Won’t You Be My Neighbor? is that it shows many of Fred Rogers’ faults. He was unsure of how to approach some subjects, he had his doubts about himself, and was even not as accepting of a cast member’s sexuality at first. But he always drove to improve himself and to make everyone feel welcome. This is confirmed by the BTS footage on the set of Neighborhood, the b-roll footage of him with children, and even just him living his life. Each of the interviewees had something to bring to the film and revealed a new thing I had never known about Fred. But one of the best parts is how they handle the rumors about Mr. Rogers, and it’s both funny and heartwarming, much like most of this film.

BLINDSPOTTING

Two friends in Oakland have their relationship tested during the last few days of probation for one of them. Throughout Blindspotting, especially in its third act, there’s a ticking time bomb feeling, that any one mistake could completely destroy everything that Colin (Daveed Diggs) has been working for. His chemistry with Miles (Rafael Casal) is believable enough. In each scene that involves just the two of them hanging out, working or fighting, you understand both of their feelings. The politics of the film are also handled very well, as the title itself is about how one sees another individual on the surface, and we see how this affects several characters in the film. It’s a film that demands you pay attention, and you do. And like all good films, it leaves you thinking after the credits roll.
