Cancer Response Team, Inc. is a local Phoenix nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering families in Arizona with alternative pediatric cancer treatment awareness, and providing financial assistance to those families who choose alternative/integrative options alongside conventional medicine.

We launched this non-profit organization to support the families of children facing a cancer diagnosis. Evidence based treatments combined with complementary therapies can reduce side effects and improve effectiveness; ultimately improving quality of life and prognosis. Unfortunately, some complementary therapies and treatments are often not covered by traditional insurance policies.
“Cancer Response Team (CRT) is here to empower, educate and be a resource for Arizona families and assist financially” said Jacki Wilson, Chief Marketing Officer and Board Member.
WHY CRT WAS STARTED
Stefan Moore, CRT’s Founder, had the heartbreaking agony of losing his precious 13 year old daughter, Ashley, to brain cancer. When she was first diagnosed they were shocked, felt helpless and like most parents trusted her doctors to cure her disease. Ashley went through the traditional chemotherapy and radiation treatments and standard protocol.
By the time her parents were able to fully educate themselves on alternative and integrative options, chemotherapy and radiation had done such harm and the cancer had spread. Leaving them to question “WHY” these options aren’t made available as an initial treatment plan. So as a promise to Ashley before she passed, Stefan started CRT.
“We firmly believe that every individual should have choices and options when forced to face the crisis of a cancer diagnosis of a loved one” said Stefan. CRT pledges to provide needed financial assistance to support families in whatever treatment options they wish to pursue which is done through donations, corporate sponsorships and matching programs. Alongside financial assistance, CRT also visits Phoenix Children’s Hospital a few times a year with blankets and special characters to bring even a little bit of joy. CRT is looking to the Phoenix community for volunteers and donations and would greatly appreciate any considerations for grants, state tax donations and community event participation. Follow Cancer Response Team on Facebook and Instagram or visit cancerreponseteam.org for more information. Contact jwilson@cancerreponseteam to volunteer or donate. Help CRT make a difference in our community and with families who need it.

ARIZONA SUNRAYS GYMNASTICS & DANCE CENTER
ARIZONA SUNRAYS GYMNASTICS & DANCE CENTER HAS MOVED ONE MILE NORTH FROM ITS LONG TIME THUNDERBIRD LOCATION TO A 34,000 SQUARE FOOT, NEWLY CONSTRUCTED, STATE-OFTHE-ART FACILITY THAT IS LIGHTFILLED AND ENERGY EFFICIENT. This long-running gymnastics and dance center - now celebrating 28 years in business and coowned by Julie and Dan Witenstein - not only features brand new pieces of gymnastics equipment, five in-ground trampolines, but there are also three, larger dance studios and even a licensed Active Preschool! Their weekly yoga classes and popular “Ninja Zone” classes for

boys and girls continue, plus, all-new classes in aerial arts, musical theatre and Twist n Tots.
Designed and built by local firms, Holly Street Studio Architects and Chasse Building Team, the new facility also features an increased viewing area for parents, outdoor courtyard, a café, gift shop, and much larger parking area. Mayor Stanton, also a Sunray’s customer, stated that the new facility “is the crown jewel of the N. 32nd Street Corridor!” This project was years in the making. One hurdle was finding the right site in their current neighborhood. They finally found it on an abandoned-looking four-acre former eyesore they had driven by for years! “Staying in the neighborhood that has supported us for so long was very important to us.” Julie explains. “Our confidence in our staff and the tremendous job they do is what gave us the courage to move forward with this dream adventure,” she added.
Arizona Sunrays draws over 2,000 families per week to the North 32nd Street Corridor and features local businesses: Karl’s Quality Bakery, ROC2 coffee, China Mist teas, AZ Pops and Salad Dash in their café. Community members are invited to stop by the front desk for a visitor pass and receive a guided tour of their new facility which is open seven days a week.

SAN DIEGO DEVELOPER SUCCESSFULLY BIDS $26.5 MILLION FOR 93 ACRES OF STATE TRUST LAND NEAR TURF PARADISE PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT ARIZONA K-12 PUBLIC EDUCATION
SUNBELT LAND HOLDINGS LP OF SAN DIEGO SUCCESSFULLY BID $26.5 MILLION FOR APPROXIMATELY 93 ACRES OF STATE TRUST LAND NEAR THE TURF PARADISE RACETRACK AT AN ARIZONA STATE LAND DEPARTMENT AUCTION. The 93.257-acre subject parcel, located south and west of the southwest corner of 19th Avenue and Bell Road in Phoenix, is zoned for a planned community development. Turf Paradise is just east of the subject parcel, across 19th Avenue. The opening bid was $18 million, the appraised value of the subject parcel.
Proceeds from the resulting sale will be placed in a permanent fund whose proceeds benefit Arizona’s K-12 public schools. The permanent fund is administered by the Arizona State Treasurer.
“The Land Department’s mission is to manage assets of a multigenerational perpetual Trust for both its beneficiaries and for the future of this State,” State Land Commissioner Lisa Atkins said. “The sale of mature assets such as this parcel is an example of that responsible, sustainable management, providing financial growth to Trust beneficiaries and contributing to economic growth for the people of Arizona.”
K-12 public education is by far the largest beneficiary of Trust land managed by the Arizona State Land Department, whose mission since 1915 is to manage the assets of a multi-generational perpetual trust in alignment with the interests of the Trust’s 13 beneficiaries and Arizona’s future. All uses of the land and resources held in the Trust must benefit the Trust, a fact that distinguishes it from the way public land, such as parks or national forests, may be used or managed. While public use of Trust land is not prohibited, it is regulated to ensure protection of the land and compensation to the beneficiaries for its use.
Today the Arizona State Land Department pro-actively manages more than 9.2 million acres of Trust land, which is 13 percent of the land within the State of Arizona.
MVD URGES ONLINE CUSTOMERS NOT TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT’S FREE SOME WEBSITES AND SOCIAL MEDIA OFFER BAD DEALS FOR MVD SERVICES
SEARCHING FOR THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION MOTOR VEHICLE DIVISION ONLINE? Not only should you go to the right website, you also need to be

wary of a new trend of people using social media to offer services that are actually free.
“We’ve recently seen Facebook traffic with people offering to sell materials and tutor potential teenage drivers on how to pass the learner’s permit the MVD, and in some cases they are paying
test,” said MVD Stakeholder Relations Manager Jennifer Bowser-Richards.
“While offering those services isn’t illegal, people should know that they can get the same information at no cost at the ADOT MVD website,” she said. “We’ve offered free online practice tests for years and if someone takes the three 30-question exams, they will see almost every question offered. It makes no sense to pay She added, “Customers should also be cautious when doing a web search for the MVD. Doing a search for the ‘Arizona DMV’, or ‘DMV Arizona’ will take you to a copycat webpage not affiliated with ADOT.
Customers who use those sites will often be charged much larger fees than they would through someone for these materials.”

PRESS COFFEE BUILDING FLAGSHIP ROASTERY/CAFE IN NORTH 32ND
PRESS COFFEE ROASTERS HAS ANNOUNCED IT WILL BUILD A FLAGSHIP ROASTING FACILITY IN THE 32ND & SHEA NEIGHBORHOOD OF NORTH PHOENIX. The 5,600 sqft facility at 10443 N. 32nd St. will be a full production site for Press Coffee’s whole bean roasting operations. It will also be open to the public with a fully functioning café serving drinks and food with plenty of meeting space. Expected completion of the $3.5 million project is Spring 2019.
Co-owners Steve Kraus, Jason Kyle and Alex Mason describe the new roastery as an ongoing commitment from Press to be Arizona’s own local coffee roaster. Kraus opened the first Press Coffee in North Phoenix in 2008 and Kyle and Mason are both bornand-raised Arizona natives.
Said Kraus, “We are excited about the future of this iconic building. We wanted to go beyond just a production facility and create a space that allows us to share our love for coffee with the community.”
The Construction Zone, LTD will serve as the general contractor, architect and designer. The modern design of the flagship roastery will showcase and educate the public about specialty coffee with viewing areas of the roasting rooms and space for Press’ Coffee 101 tastings.

“This facility allows us to open our doors to the public and share our passion for roasting amazing coffees from around the world,” said Kyle. “We’re also thrilled to help put Arizona on the specialty coffee national map.”

The project will double Press’ production facilities. When the new roastery is open, its current whole bean roastery located in Phoenix will be dedicated for cold brew production. Press plans to expand cold brew production with the addition of a 15-barrel brewing system.
“We’re proud to have helped lead the way in creating a great, locally made cold brew that Arizona can call its own,” said Mason. “This expansion allows us to serve cold brew to even more of Arizona.”
Press has been Arizona’s own local coffee roaster since 2008. It has seven Valley locations in Scottsdale, Tempe, Phoenix and Chandler. Visit Press Coffee online at presscoffee.com and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @ presscoffee.
