They are part of the International MOMS Club and offer support to full-time or part-time stay-at-home mothers. One of their goals as a MOMS Club is to give back to our community and set a good example for our children. Each year this group helps fundraise for a different charity by hosting an Annual Event. Their mission is to raise funds through this event, of which 100% of proceeds will be donated to a local children’s/women’s charity in the Valley. Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children was selected by the members of the MOMS Club of PhoenixNorterra as the beneficiary of their 2019 fundraiser. Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children (ACFC) is committed to supporting children with cancer and their families, right here in Arizona. Their mission is to provide social, emotional and financial support for families managing the health and well-being of a loved one with pediatric cancer. ACFC’s goal is to create an Innovative Resource Center (Ava’s Tree House- named after the founder Chrissie’s late daughter) that caters to the unique needs of children with cancer. In addition to the emotional and financial burden that pediatric cancer brings, children are stripped away from their childhood. Movie theaters, parks, with purchase of any entrée and playgrounds, libraries - all of these places are prohibited to children with cancer because of their weakened immune systems, forcing them to stay at home. On average, a child diagnosed with pediatric cancer is just 6 years old. By offering an array of amenities for families under one roof we are giving these children a place to experience a carefree childhood. The vision for Ava’s tree-house includes an indoor playground, music room, art room, K9 therapy dog room for visits, and so much more. Free from the doctors’ appointments, tests, and treatment rooms that can isolate a young child, Ava’s tree-house will provide children and families an opportunity to play without fear of infection. We hope that you’ll join in on this fun filled evening benefiting Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children. Your support will make a significant impact to a family battling pediatric cancer.
