DIGITAL MEDIA CHALLENGES

Name: Chelsea Cooke Form: 13N Date: October 27, 2026 Teacher: Mrs. Thalia Batchelor

Digital Photographs

→ MOONLIGHT

★ The photographs above depict three instances from evening → late night of taking photos of the moon over my community home, Oak Estates. I chose the prompt moonlight as it allowed for an obvious focal point being the moon itself. As such, camera editing techniques like applying filters and blur effects at a tilt in the last photo to create a surreal experience for viewers.

Fashion Sketch/Croquis

→ VOID

★ My second piece was a fashion sketch or croquis, under the prompt of void, going with achromatic colors as the color theory. My reasoning for this was because I believed this color theory would effectively tie into the prompt; being defined as the aspect of nothingness/emptiness & lacking volume. Hence, dark shades of blacks and greys were utilized swirling in an inked, watery movement; heavily referencing characters such as Venom and Inque, villains from Marvel and DC respectively.

Comic Strip

→ WHISPER

★ The comic strip above depicts the dangers of a lack of cybersecurity, and not paying key notice to suspicious emails or messages. As such, the prompt whisper was utilized in the piece as a means of comedic effect for readers.

Magazine Advertisement

→ STITCHES

★ The piece depicts a digital art recreation of a magazine cover displaying a woman in a stitched cardigan. This follows the theme of the same namesake, stitches. This was used as I wanted to utilize more textured brushes to make it appear more textile; coinciding with the magazine itself being a guide for learning different textile activities.

Minimalist Business Card

→ MIRROR

[FRONT] [BACK] ★ The piece depicts both the front and back of a concept for the Art Society's business card. It follows the prompt titled ‘mirror’ as the Club's Name is mirrored horizontally before adding a slight transparency to reduce visual clutter. Furthermore, certain elements of the card are mirrored, or in this case repeated throughout the card; for example the paint splatter element.

Annotation of: Princess Bubblegum

→ CROWN

★ (To further expound on the writing in the image) In the 2010s, pink was a very popular color for the young female demographic, especially from the reach of Barbie to creators such as Jojo Siwa. As such, utilizing pinks and purple's monochromatically appeals to young girls; greatly impacting them. This is even more emphasized by Adventure Times' use of simple black outlines and flat colors to accentuate Princess Bubblegum's regal silhouette; young girls worldwide are impacted by her heavily feminine forward design of the "pretty pink princess". However, her design also uses contrast in her shape language to subvert audiences. ★ The annotation depicts the character, Princess Bubblegum, from the animated TV Series titled “Adventure Time”. The prompt of the crown was chosen as it

heavily relates to this character; being in the royal status as ‘Princess of Candy Kingdom’.

Emblem/Logo

→ DECAY

★ Finally, this logo in a square frame depicts the iconic Jonkunnu character Pitchy-Patchy, following the prompt of decay; shown through the distinct cracks in the mask and frayed strips of fabric. This is ultimately meant to symbolize the wear, tear or decay of the Caribbean performer in stark contrast to the still smiling mask.
