Nestling in the heart of the Dolomites – since 2009 a UNESCO World Heritage Site – Eggental-Val d’Ega is a mountain valley with seven pretty villages and two sun-bathed ski resorts, Obereggen and Carezza, located at the foot of the towering Rosengarten and Latemar mountain chains. One of the most popular family-friendly ski areas in Italy’s northern Südtirol-Alto Adige province, it offers 90 kilometres of ski pistes, 100 kilometres of cross-country skiing, three toboggan runs and countless winter walking trails. Expert skiers, cruisers and snowboarders find themselves drawn to Obereggen, while families with children will simply love Carezza.

The ski resorts in the Eggental-Val d’Ega promise an unforgettable winter experience in the heart of nature. At the same time, they lie just a 20-minute drive from the regional capital Bozen/Bolzano. The family ski area of Carezza can be reached quickly and easily by cable car from Nova Levante (1182m).

Obereggen is accessible via a ski bus from the neighbouring villages of Nova Levante, Nova Ponente, Ega and Monte San Pietro. A new ski bus line connects the two ski resorts in Eggental-Val d'Ega. Visitors to the region shouldn’t miss out on the chance to check out a truly unique highlight: the province’s only star observatory and the South Tyrol Planetarium in the mountain village of Collepietra.

OBEREGGEN – SKI SEASON 27 NOVEMBER 2020 7PM UNTIL 11 APRIL 2021 Winter visitors to Obereggen can look forward to 49 kilometres of perfectly prepared pistes as well as two toboggan runs. The ski pistes on offer range from easy slopes for beginners to black runs for experts. There are a total of 18 lifts and cable cars transporting skiers and snowboarders onto the mountain, including the brand new eight-man chairlift onto the Reiterjoch opened in the winter of 2019/20. This comprehensive network of state-of-the-art lifts means almost zero queues and therefore more time on the sunny slopes.

The Val di Fiemme/Obereggen ski pass also gives holders access to 60 km of pistes in the neighbouring Val di Fiemme resort.

CAREZZA SKI SEASON 28 NOVEMBER 2020 UNTIL 05 APRIL 2021 The ski resort of Carezza at the foot of the Rosengarten and Latemar mountains is one of the most popular family ski areas in Südtirol-Alto Adige. The resort’s 12 lifts leading up to 2337 metres above sea level offer skiers and snowboarders breathtaking views of the Dolomites.

It is little wonder that Carezza has received numerous international awards for its excellent pistes for all abilities and professional snowsports schools offering lessons for children and adults. Here, where the legendary King Laurin once reigned, today it is children who are in charge. The resort has two areas designed especially for children as well as a fun themed piste and a children’s entertainment programme and an indoor play room for bad-weather days.

Advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders will also find plenty to keep them busy in Carezza, from challenging pistes and snowboard parks to toboggan runs, cross-country skiing, snowshoe walking and freestyle. In recent years Carezza has taken major steps to increase its energy efficiency. Thanks to careful planning and intelligent systems, the resort’s snow-making infrastructure is more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient than ever before. It is the first Italian ski area to join the 2025 Climate Neutrality Alliance.

The goal: For Carezza Dolomites to achieve a neutral carbon footprint in a maximum of three years.

In the ski resort of Obereggen there are lots of activities for children such as Brunoland and the Yeti Park, two areas where youngsters can take their first steps on snow in a safe and fun environment. Located on the Eben Piste, Brunoland has two conveyor belt lifts ideal for children as well as an inflatable fortress, a snow tunnel, a carousel and lots of other great attractions. In the Yeti Park children can explore the snow adventure trail while at the Yeti Miniclub those aged 3 years and older can learn the basics of skiing under the watchful eye of professional instructors. Discover the Alpine Coaster in Predazzo, a mini rollercoaster leading through the snowy forest!

Carezza is the kingdom home to the mythical King Laurin. At the foot of the magical Rosengarten mountains children can explore a themed piste with six stations telling them all about the legend of King Laurin. There is a separate adventure trail by the Le Pope Lift explaining the most important rules for staying safe on the ski slopes.

In Carezza there is also a Kids Snowpark where youngsters can learn how to jump and land safely. The Family Fun Line and Kids Line were especially designed for children. Highlights in the Kinderland Carezza include a conveyor belt lift, carousel and bouncy castle for kids aged 2-9 years. Last but not least, Naniland next to the Frommer Alm hut gives youngsters the chance to explore King Laurin’s Crystal Palace where many centuries ago his dwarves were once hard at work.

The snowpark in Obereggen is the place to be for all freestyle fans, even at night. As the sun sets on a beautiful day and the stars in the sky above become brighter, it’s time to strap into your board once again and hit the park. The jib line is floodlit three times a week. There is also another jib area along the 14

night piste with obstacles for beginners and experts. The park has been designed in cooperation with experts from F-TECH Snowpark Construction and is kept in top condition every day by a team of shapers.

Ever experienced the feeling of flying with skis on your feet? Well now you can! The Snowpark Obereggen, NAMED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AS ONE OF THE BEST FUNPARKS IN THE ALPS, is one huge playground for snowboarders and freestyle skiers looking to push the limits of gravity on more than 30 different obstacles.

The Snowpark Obereggen has a halfpipe, an Easy Line, a Medium Line and a Pro Line. It was developed in cooperation with the professional snowpark designers from F-TECH Snowpark Construction and is kept in top condition every day by a team of shapers. All in all the Snowpark Obereggen offers 10 kickers (1–17m), 4 rails (3–12m), 11 boxes, 1 wallride, 1 halfpipe, 1 boarder cross, 1 banked slalom course and a selection of boxes for young freestylers.

The Snowpark Carezza is located on the Tschein Piste at the foot of the Roda di Vael in Carezza. Children will enjoy the Family Fun Line, while advanced and expert freestylers can work on their skills on the Easy Kicker and Easy Box Line as well as the brand new Medium Kicker Line. The park also features a 9m DFD Tank, the only obstacle of its kind in South Tyrol. The park was built by F-TECH Snowpark Construction and is kept in top condition every day by a team of shapers.

Cross-country skiing - Carezza

VAL D’EGA Cross-country skiing is a gentle and peaceful sport which is not only good for the whole body but also provides plenty of opportunities to admire the beautiful surroundings. There are two main styles, the traditional Classic and the more modern and dynamic Skating.

Whichever you choose, and whatever your ability, the Val d'Ega has plenty of trails. Some of the best are to be found on the Passo Lavazè ridge with its thick forests and snow-covered meadows.

Val d'Ega is one of the best places in the Dolomites for cross-country skiing and offers over 100km of well-maintained trails.

Pristine snowy landscapes around the Latemar and Rosengarten/ Catinaccio mountains, total peace and quiet and only the crunching sound as your feet sink into the fresh snow. Snowshoe hiking is one of the best ways to explore the Val d'Ega in winter. The area has a number of well-maintained trails ideal for winter hiking and snowshoeing, ranging from easy family walks to challenging adventures.

WINTER HIKING Thought hiking was only a summer activity? Think again! Winter hiking is a great way to breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the spectacular views of the Dolomites. The Val d'Ega has a number of winter hiking trails which are frequently groomed and maintained in order to keep them in top condition.

GUIDED SNOWSHOE HIKING Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there are guided snowshoe hikes through the enchanting winter landscape of the Eggental region.

ARRIVING BY CAR Approaching on the Brennerautobahn motorway (A22) take the exit marked "Bolzano Nord/Val d'Ega". Turn right and follow the road for 20-30 km for Nova Levante, Carezza, Nova Ponente, Ega Obereggen and Monte S. Pietro; turn left and follow the road for 15 km to reach Collepietra.

The train station in the regional capital Bolzano has international connections, for example five times a day direct from Munich to Bolzano. From the station it is a 30-minute journey on one of the local buses (www.sii.bz.it) to the Val d'Ega.
