LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Eau Gallie Arts District (EGAD!) received its Florida Main Street designation in 2010, and the real estate valuation has increased by $15M (2010-2015) according to the city of Melbourne. Everything we do is possible because of the commitment of our local business members, area residents, Mayor Kathy Meehan and the City of Melbourne City Council members, our District II representative Betty Moore, and our many volunteers, our sponsors, and especially the Eau Gallie Community Redevelopment Area Advisory Board.

We look for visionaries and co-creators to join in our work to establish EGAD as the creative epicenter of Brevard County. EGAD is handcrafted and authentic.

MISSION & VISION Main Street is a preservation based, economic redevelopment initiative. EGAD’s mission is to preserve the historic assets of the community while promoting the economic redevelopment of Eau Gallie’s central business district area, including that area’s commercial, civic and religious enterprises and residences. Our vision is to establish ourselves as epicenter of creativity in Brevard County.

ABOUT US EGAD is funded by a grant from the city of Melbourne’s Community Revitalization Area (CRA) Advisory Council, grants, sponsorships, memberships, and fundraisers. Our program is managed through the Main Street Four Point Approach—Design, Economic Restructuring, Organization and Promotion and is an all-volunteer organization, except for one paid executive director.

WHAT’S NEW EGAD has expanded its public arts program with the additional of several murals, including one by internationally acclaimed artist, Shark Toof. EGAD recently installed new trash cans, benches mimicking mangrove roots and new bicycle racks which was funded by the CRA. New businesses have successfully launched and EGAD is in high demand for more to come.

New shops in the past two years include Intracoastal Brewing Company (who is already expanding), the Yoga Garden, Anaya’s Coffee, MELD Studio architecture, event planners for the Melbourne air show, and Standard Collective, a lifestyle boutique featuring original art and design from local vendors. Accent Technology recently renovated an existing mid-century building with an interior design that is both modern and fun.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

AWARDS Since 2010, EGAD Main Street has received a total of five Florida Main Street awards–special event, membership drive and community wayfinding kiosk system. EGAD has also received two individual awards to Derek Gores for local program supporter and to Lisa Packard for outstanding statewide program supporter. These awards are given by the Secretary of the State of Florida at the annual Florida State Main Street Conference.

EGAD is guided by an independent, volunteer board of directors, assisted by the executive director.

The board focuses on establishing goals for each year with the committees contributing in their unique ways towards achieving those goals.
