MEET THE EFR The Economic Faculty association Rotterdam (EFR) was officially founded in 1964. Forty-nine years later, the EFR has distinguished itself by establishing a reputation of being one of the largest, most active and professional student organisations in Europe. The EFR has over 4000 members of which more than 100 are Active Members who voluntarily commit themselves to organising activities for fellow students. The EFR is the official study association of the Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) and is not to be confused with a fraternity or a student association. The EFR aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The EFR s strength lies in our rich history, loyal partners and broad social and professional networks. We give students the opportunity to gain an early insight behind the scenes of the corporate world and offer you a vibrant social scene ranging from parties to study

trips. Through the EFR, students get the chance to meet business- and political leaders as well as to mingle with a large number of enthusiastic fellow students. All activities the EFR organises are based on social, career and/or academic development, the three pillars of the EFR. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. ‘NOMINAL IS NORMAL’ AND THE LONG The road to becoming an Active Member
Joining a committee - pros and cons
For the academic year 2012-2013 a new rule will be enforced. First year students are only allowed to go to the second year if they acquire all 60 ECTS, which means more effort is required to pass! For Dutch students the long study fine (langstudeerboete) is also enforced. This means a fine is given in case you do not complete your Bachelor degree within 4 years.
When you join an EFR-Committee and become an Active Member, the EFR has even more to offer you! During your Committee year you will gain skills that will help you with your studies. On top of that, a lot of our Active Members have struggled or are struggling with the same problems, so you will always find someone who is more than willing to help you out! Besides attending the EFR-Training Centre, as an Active Member you can also benefit from the EFR-Active Members Academy. This program is intended to offer you the chance to use the skills obtained by your committee and studies. Furthermore, additional trainings provided by wellknown companies or persons will help you to develop your individual skills and personality in order to be a step ahead of your fellow students.
EFR-Training Centre These two changes are reasons for the EFR to help you with your studies as much as possible, even when you are not working in a committee. We believe that your main priority should always be your studies. Within our EFR-Training Centre the emphasis is on study support and soft skills trainings. These will not only help you to pass your exams, but also to prepare you for the world after university, something which you will see over and over again when attending the EFR activities.

STUDY FINE In short: Becoming an Active Member obviously does not only have advantages. When you apply for a committee you do have the responsibility to make your projects a success and to accomplish this, you should invest time and effort. What do you want to get out of this year? Make sure you know where you want to be at the end of the year and the EFR and its Active Members are more than willing to get you there! So experience a year as an EFR Active Member and meet your ambition!

DRINKS Monthly drinks The monthly EFR social drinks will take place every first Thursday of the month, starting October 4th, so mark your agenda! We will gather in cafe de Stoep, Oostzeedijk 334 and of course there is the possibility to go party with us afterwards. During this drink, there will be beer for only 1.55 Euros, soft drinks for 1.50 Euros and wine for only 2.50 Euros. The drinks are open for all students, so bring your friends! The drinks will take place on the following dates: October 4th November 1st December 6th January 10th February 7th March 7th May 2nd

TRIPS WITH THE EFR The EFR-Ski Trip
The EFR-Study Trip
The Ski Trip committee organises the EFR-Ski Trip, which takes place in the beginning of January. Last year this was the largest Ski trip of the Erasmus University, we went to Les Menuires with almost 100 people. Having our own hotel and bar, imagine how much fun we had! This year the Ski Trip will be from the 11th till the 20th of January 2013. For more information you can visit efr.nl/skitrip.
The Study Trip will be organised for the first time coming year. We will go outside Europe for seven to ten days to get to know the culture of that country. We will also visit several companies and universities. Besides that, partying and a lot of fun will be included. This year the Study trip will be from the 26th of April till the 5th of May.
The EFR-City Trip The City Trip is organised by the Activities Committee and takes place in November. During this weekend trip we usually visit a metropolis in Europe. Last year we went to Antwerp and Bruxelles with almost 40 people. Sightseeing, a visit to the university and partying were all included during this amazing trip.
