MEET THE EFR
The Economic Faculty association Rotterdam (EFR) was officially founded in 1964. Fifty years later, the EFR has distinguished itself by establishing a reputation of being one of the largest, most active and professional student associations in Europe. The EFR has over 5500 members of which more than 150 are Committee Members who voluntarily commit themselves to organising activities for fellow students. The EFR is the official faculty association of the Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) and is not to be confused with a fraternity or a student association. The EFR aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The EFR’s strength lies in our rich history, loyal partners and broad social and professional networks. We give students the opportunity to gain an early insight into what goes on behind the scenes of the corporate world and offer them a vibrant social scene ranging from parties to study trips. Through the EFR, students

get the chance to meet business and political leaders as well as to mingle with a large number of enthusiastic fellow students. All activities the EFR organises are based the four goals of the EFR: education, orientation, development and network. WHAT WILL YOU GAIN?

Learning to handle stress, providing effective feedback, receiving criticism and making decisions around tight schedules are important skills that are not easily picked up during lectures. You might have had a time management class, or read something about giving feedback but it is only after you have put it into practice that you begin to understand the fine nuances of these soft skills.
The EFR organises tons of social activities each year. As a committee member you can participate in almost all of them! From our own introduction weekends, Committee Members Prom, parties, Committee Members Weekend, our monthly social drink and other get-togethers, there is always something going on. You will form a very strong bond with your committee and other Committee Members.
As a committee member you are not alone in doing your tasks. The EFR Board is there to support you when needed. Every committee has one supervisor from the EFR Board, who will guide you through your year. The EFR Board consists of eight senior students who are dedicating one full-time year to the EFR. They have been in your position and are always there to help.
TR AIN IN GS The Committee Members Academy is there to help you grow and develop yourself whilst keeping your future career in mind. You and your committee will receive committee-specific trainings throughout the year. All Committee Member trainings are free of charge. A year at the EFR will make you learn more things than you have ever imagined!

As a Committee member you are bound to have fun with your committee. You have meetings every week, but you can also go and have dinner, get some drinks in the city or have a committee weekend! The supervisor from the board is happy to come along with these fun activities.
The Committee Members Weekend, the EFR Prom and the other activities the High Five Committee organises are there for you as an Committee Member only! All the Committee Member join, which means you are partying with more than 150 students! You can also join the different trips the EFR organises, like the Ski Trip or the City Trip. One thing is for sure, you are going to have a lot of fun as an EFR Committee Member.

FULL-TIME OPPORTUNITIES Every year, the EFR offers three opportunities to apply for full-time positions:

The EFR Board consists of eight students who have committed themselves to guide the Economic Faculty association Rotterdam through an adventurous year. They are responsible for everything that concerns the EFR and together with more than 150 Committee Members they realize the greatest activities in Rotterdam. Every year the EFR is proud to welcome world leaders such as presidents of different countries, CEOs and secretary-generals of the UN. All these activities cost a lot of time and effort. The EFR Board is there to make sure that all of these things are carried out and the association reaches a new level each year. Every year in May a new group of students is recruited for the full-time Board.
Do you want to organise the most prestigious week of the EFR? In 2016 the 32nd edition was held, which makes the EFR Business Week the oldest congress and recruitment event on campus. Six dedicated students work full-time on this project from August until April. We are looking for students that want to stand out of the crowd and really want to accomplish something. Positions available in the EFR Business Week Committee are: Chairman, Commissioner World of Business, Commissioner Conference Platform, Commissioner of Commercial Events (2x) and Commissioner of Marketing.
The Erasmus Recruitment Days Committee organises the biggest on-campus recruitment event in the Benelux. Almost 100 companies and 2700 students are participating in the Erasmus Recruitment Days, a joint venture between the EFR and STAR. This two-week event will take place in the beginning of February. Seven students are working full-time from August until March to make this happen. Each year in May the Chairman, Treasurer, Commissioner Marketing, Commercial (2x), Editor-in-Chief & IT and Commissioner of Event are recruited.

Right now, the CV is a good way for us to keep track of the people applying for our committees and get to know what they are interested in. The EFR Party Crew is responsible for organising the EFR parties. As a member of this committee you are challenged to successfully combine the right ingredients to create an unforgettable night. You will organise, promote and manage all parties of the EFR, including the Welcome Party, After Exam Drinks and a yearly party with other associations. The committee will also be in charge of the EFR Drink that takes place every block and become the face of this social event. You will be challenged to set up innovative marketing

campaigns and to find the right location and the very best DJs. We are looking for students who are creative, like to organise and of course like to party. Plus, the chairman of the Party Crew will also be the chairman of a separate committee, consisting of people from 8 different associations, that organises the Rotterdam Student Party. Together with your committee you will be in charge to make this trip unforgettable for more than 100 enthusiastic students. This means that you will have to make an awesome program for the whole week, with a lot of partying, ski/snowboard contest etc.

All events organised by the Political Affairs Committee (previously known as EPIC) have something to do with politics. In the beginning of the year you organise a Student Debate on campus. This debate also serves as a preliminary round for your biggest event, namely the Model United Nations! This amazing conference usually takes place around February. Besides that, you are able to organise embassy visits and there is room for you own initiatives.

The Commercial Team works together closely with the Commercial Officer to monitor the existing company network, finance events and attract new partners. You will be responsible for the capital raising of some events. For these events, you will be actively involved since you are the bridge between the organising committee and the business world. Furthermore, you will organise two Career Fairs throughout the year. The Career Fair is a (fairly) new, high-potential recruitment event of the EFR

The Marketing Committee is responsible for the image of the EFR and the promotion of EFR’s activities. You will design promotional materials and brainstorm with committees about creative ways to promote their event. In addition, you will be responsible for the creation and design of the EFR Almanac. The variety of activities in a year makes the EFR Marketing Committee one of the most interesting and fun committees of the EFR. We are looking for people with skills in marketing, creative minds, design heroes and people with affinity with IT.

This year, we’re also looking for someone with affinity with making movies. We offer design trainings for the Marketing Committee, so don’t worry if you are not a great designer yet, we will make you one! This event consists of four different Orientation Days and provides students with the opportunity to explore the career prospectives of different fields of (business) expertise. As a member of the Orientation Cycle Committee you will be responsible for the companies, speakers and content of the Orientation Days. You will be working together

The EFR-Involve Committee will be organising a volunteering project where students can use their academic knowledge to improve situations in developing countries. Last year the third edition of the EFR-Involve project commenced; a group of 20 students did desk research about a social enterprise in the Netherlands, and will do field research in Uganda for three

As a member of the Charity Committee you are responsible for the organisation of the EFR Charity Days and a grand fundraising event. The EFR Charity Days create the opportunity for students to dedicate some of their time to help the less privileged and show commitment to the city. The fundraising activity is a
