YOUR ESSENTIAL ROUND-UP

11 September 2026

This Week’s Headlines: It has been a busy and highly positive first full week of term, with pupils enthusiastically embracing the many opportunities on offer across school life. Classrooms have been full of energy and engagement as pupils have settled quickly into their routines, whilst our co-curricular programme has got off to a fantastic start. It has been wonderful to see so many pupils signing up for clubs, activities and enrichment opportunities, demonstrating curiosity, commitment and a willingness to tr y something new. This week also saw our individual school photographs taking place, creating another snapshot of the year ahead and capturing our pupils looking smart and proud in their uniforms. Beyond the classroom, we were delighted to enjoy the first educational trip of the academic year as our dance pupils travelled to London to see Cats. Experiences such as these are an important part of our wider curriculum, bringing learning to life and inspiring creativity and confidence. We look forward to our forthcoming Open Morning on Saturday 19 t h September. Mr Stuart Field- Headmaster

BOARDING

It has been wonderful to welcome all of our boarders back for the start of the new term. The house has been full of energy, laughter and excitement as familiar faces returned and we welcomed new pupils into our boarding family. The weekend was dedicated to helping ever yone settle in and get to know one another. Activities included an exciting escape room challenge, shopping trips, and attending church together. We also enjoyed a fantastic team outing to Painshill Park, where pupils worked together to build dens, explored the beautiful grounds and discovered the impressive Cr ystal Grotto.

BOARDING

We are also delighted to welcome Miss Ashley Carter and Miss Galbraith to the boarding team. They have already become a valued part of our boarding family, and we look forward to the positive impact they will have on our community throughout the year. It has also been lovely to see our Flexi Boarders returning. Flexi boarding continues to be a popular option, allowing pupils to enjoy the benefits of boarding, take part in evening activities, build friendships and feel part of our vibrant boarding community, while still maintaining flexibility for family life. It has been a fantastic start to the term and a wonderful opportunity for friendships, both old and new, to flourish. A great weekend, a great start, and an exciting year ahead for us all!

DANCE TRIP

Our dance pupils enjoyed a fantastic evening this week as they travelled to London's iconic Regent's Park Open Air Theatre to see the acclaimed production of Cats. Set within the beautiful surroundings of Regent's Park, the open-air venue provided a truly unique and atmospheric backdrop for the performance. As the sun set and the stage came to life, pupils were immersed in an unforgettable theatrical experience. The production itself was spectacular, showcasing outstanding choreography, powerful performances and the much-loved music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. For our dancers, it was a wonderful opportunity to see professional performers in action, gaining inspiration and insight into the artistr y, technique and stor ytelling that make musical theatre so captivating. The combination of a stunning outdoor setting, a vibrant atmosphere and an exceptional performance made for a memorable first trip of the academic year, leaving our pupils inspired and excited for the year ahead.

Prep School News Dear Parents, It was delightful to catch up with some of you and see so many of you at our first event of the year with our ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions in the Year 6 classrooms. We hope you came away with a real taste of the year to come and that if you missed it, you received the power point presentations yesterday on SchoolPost. If you have any further questions regarding the year ahead or your daughter’s learning, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our class teachers. It was with true delight that I embraced our first Prep Head Girl Team initiative (explained to me last week by Florence and Charlotte) - a wellbeing walk. So, despite the threatening (and actual rain), Charlotte at the lead and Florence taking up the rear, they led about half the year group on a wellbeing ‘walk’n’talk’ around the paths of the school grounds. The girls returned refreshed and many stated how much they had enjoyed the opportunity to walk and talk with each other. Our teaching staff (where possible) do this on a daily basis at lunch - part of what I believe makes them such an effective, well-balanced team! Well done, Florence and Charlotte. I am already working with other student leaders on other initiatives - watch this space. The girls all looked smart for individual, sibling and class photographs on Thursday morning. And at lunchtime, I held my first ‘knit and natter’ club - this half term we are making socks. If your daughter would like to join us, she simply needs to purchase some super chunky soft skiens of wool in her chosen colour and come along! Today, we attended Whole School House assembly and excitedly learned about the new opportunities for Prep girls to be involved in voting for the new house names, as well as events like Inter House Arts and Values Week with its many charitable events. As we head into the weekend, let’s all take the opportunity to stop what we’re doing and take a moment or create a moment of gratitude. "Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good." Maya Angelou Best wishes, Gareth Tindall

NSEA News Hurstpierpoint College Showjumping Championships Junior Team The junior team comprising of Florence B, Harriet L, Ivy M and Olivia S, with an amazing team effort, came third in the preliminary rounds which took them through to the finals where they then finished 4th. Olivia S was also 9th overall individually. These are amazing results; this competition draws some of the country's top young riders and coming fourth against such teams is a huge achievement. Seniors Amber B and Rosie C rode as individuals in the senior section. They both rode absolutely brilliant clear preliminary rounds to both go through to the finals in the International arena. Rosie rode another amazing clear round with just a couple of time faults, and Amber had an unlucky pole down and although not placed, we were all so very proud of what they both had achieved.
