This week has been characterised by a strong sense of focus and purpose GCSE examinations began at the end of last week and are now fully underway. I have been particularly impressed by the calm and focused manner in which our Year 11 pupils have approached this important period. They have demonstrated real diligence and maturity, and I am confident that their preparation will stand them in good stead. My sincere thanks also go to parents and the wider community for supporting the smooth running of the examination centre, particularly in observing alternative access arrangements where required
Our Music Department has enjoyed a wonderfully open and celebratory atmosphere, welcoming parents into instrumental lessons. These sessions have provided a valuable opportunity to see first-hand the progress and talent of our young musicians. Alongside this, pupils have been auditioning for the heats of our annual Young Musician competition, and I very much look forward to the finals later this term

Year 11 Exams
On Thursday afternoon last week, Year 11 pupils had a final assembly, a video of good wishes from staff and a form group rowing challenge, as parents enjoyed a cream tea Year 11's GCSE exams began in earnest last Friday and continue for the next 5 weeks Pupils have prepared diligently for these and are approaching this challenge with maturity and mutual support, with many choosing to revise in school during the exam period. We wish them all well and know that their hard work and perseverance will pay off.

Congratulations to our U15 golfers who took part in the 2026 National Pairs Finals. This prestigious event took place at St Ives Golf Club in Cambridgeshire. The team performed exceptionally well, with Ralph H winning the individual net competition, and Ralph H alongside Elliot W securing victory in the team net competition Well done, boys!
Well done also to the latest cricket players to have scored 50+ runs Each player was presented with a miniature bat in recognition of their achievement.

On Sunday 10th May, ten Cranmore rowers travelled to Dorney Lake the home of the London 2012 Olympic rowing events to compete in the Ball Cup. This regatta is effectively a national championship for small and emerging clubs, making it an ideal competition for us
Unfortunately, the weather was not as favourable as the day before. A strong crosswind created particularly challenging conditions, especially for our Year 10 crew, who were racing in Lane 5 and contending with choppy waters, while crews in Lane 1 enjoyed comparatively calm, glass-like water
Despite this, the boys approached the race with real determination, making an excellent start and taking an early lead As the race progressed, however, the difficult conditions began to take their toll, and Harrodian benefiting from the calmer water in Lane 1 just edged ahead in a dramatic finish at the line. It was an epic contest, and our boys should be immensely proud of their performance in such adverse conditions
Due to the weather, finals were cancelled and medals were awarded based on heat times Overall, our Year 10 crew finished an impressive 5th out of 12 entries
Unfortunately, the organisers also cancelled the Year 8 quad race, which had been due to be a head-to-head contest against another school Such are the challenges of an outdoor sport As coaches, we could not speak more highly of the boys’ conduct, both on and off the water
