Senior Chronicle YOUR ESSENTIAL ROUND-UP FOR THE WEEK COMMENCING 7 SEPTEMBER 2026 Message from the Headmaster It has been a busy and positive first full week of term, with pupils enthusiastically embracing the wide range of co-curricular opportunities on offer. Across the sciences, music, sport, creative pursuits and performance, it has been encouraging to see pupils exploring new interests while reconnecting with existing passions. Our football season also got underway this week, with pupils in Years 7 and 8 proudly representing Cranmore in a number of fixtures. These occasions provide valuable opportunities to develop teamwork, resilience and confidence, while reinforcing the importance of commitment and sportsmanship.
We were also delighted to welcome parents to our Senior School Information Evenings, further strengthening the partnership between home and school as we support pupils through another exciting year ahead. Finally, Friday's Open Morning provided an opportunity to showcase to prospective families the excellent GCSE results achieved by our pupils this summer, alongside the many strengths of a Cranmore education. I was particularly proud of the pupils who served as ambassadors for the school, speaking with warmth, confidence and genuine enthusiasm about their experiences. They were outstanding representatives of our community and demonstrated the values that make Cranmore such a special place.

Information Evening
On Monday evening, we were delighted to welcome parents of pupils in Years 8 and 9 to our Senior School Information Evening. The event provided an invaluable oppor tunity for families to gain insight into the academic journey, pastoral suppor t and exciting oppor tunities that lie ahead during the coming year. Staff shared key information to help pupils achieve their full potential, while parents were able to learn more about curriculum expec tations, enrichment ac tivities and the suppor t available as their children continue to progress through the Senior School.
Music News The countdown is on to Cranmore Live, one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year. Taking place on Friday 18 September at 6.30pm in the Auditorium, this year's concer t features the world-famous London Community Gospel Choir and promises an evening of outstanding enter tainment and celebration not to be missed. Sports News It has been an excellent first full week back at school, with every pupil taking part in their first sports lesson of the year. We are proud to offer Senior School pupils a choice of activities, with options including the core sport programme, multi-sports and rowing. Football is the core sport for Years 7 and 8, while rugby is the focus from Year 9 upwards. Years 7 and 8 also enjoy a PE lesson each week, with swimming featuring throughout the Autumn Term. Our rowing programme has made a strong start, with pupils enjoying both on-water sessions through our partnership with Walton Rowing Club and land-based training using ergometers and the Henderson Fields.
The fixture season also got underway on Wednesday, with five U13 football teams in action. We wish our U13 side the best of luck in tomorrow’s 7-a-side tournament, a competition that Cranmore proudly won last year. Mr Hodgson, Director of Sport

A Reading from the Gospel of Matthew "I tell you solemnly once again, if two of you on earth agree to ask anything at all, it will be granted to you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three meet in my name, I shall be there with them." Prayer changes us. It helps us to see beyond our worries, to recognise God's blessings, and to find the courage to do what is right. Even when our prayers are not answered in the way we expect, God is always listening and guiding us. St John Vianney once said: "Prayer is nothing else than union with God." Our true purpose is to live a life of constant prayer, where our hearts are constantly open to the beauty around us and to God's presence in our lives. Prayer Lord Jesus, You promised to be present whenever people gather in your name. Help us to make prayer a daily part of our lives. Teach us to trust in your love, to listen to your voice, and to support one another in faith. May our hearts always be open to your presence and your peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
